I was lvling cooking untill new patch! then when i went to lvl it more all my old skills where gray. Evry thing in out land is 300+.
Cant find any where to get redipes to lvl from 291. can any 1 help?

Same here. On my Pally i am 295 & everything is greyed now. At least before 2.3 I has a few greens to work with.
Any Ideas guys & gals?

I have the same problem im also stuck at lvl 296 and can't seem to lvl any further?

I am also stuck at 286 and cannot find vendors or quests to allow me to get past this level.  If anyone finds something out please update this post.  TY.

Alrighty.  I finally found something.  I went to Cenarion Hold in Silithus and spoke with the Inn Keeper Calandrath.  She gave a quest that had a Smoked Desert Dumplings cooking recipe in it.  It was fairly easy to obtain this recipe.  Have fun questing. 

Stuck at 290, but I found three seafood recipes in the Feathermoon Stronghold Inn: Baked Salmon, Lobster Stew,and Mightfish Steak.

I'm also stuck around 280. All my recipes that were yellow or green are now gray. Based on thottbott, the only recipe for this range that doesn't require fishing is Run Tum Tuber Surprise which is a 3% drop in Dire Maul...

you have a few options

Desert Dumplings (the innkeeper in cenarion hold silithus)

Baked Salmon - raw whitescale salmon
Lobster Stew - darkclaw lobster
Mightfish Steak - raw greater mightfish?


AFAIK the silithus recipe requires lvl 55?
if you're too low and don't have a fisherman just hope mats for one of the bottom 3 shows up on AH

WTF I went to the inn keeper in sithilus and no quest now i am a lvl 60 but I see no reason why I should not be able to get it.

i have the mastercookbook from 300-375
how can i get to 300?

Sorry actually he teaches you how to make Buzzard Bites, Ravager Dog was from the cook in the inn at Honor Point.

i was stuck at 286 here about two days ago and finally gave in to fishing.  i hadn't before learned fishing but i lvl'd it up from about 130 to 278 and im using a +5 fishing pole w/ +100 lure to catch winter squid and darkclaw lobster in bay of storms in ashzara... its a hastle but there are so many good things to make in outlands so i decided to get more well rounded.  as soon as i hit 300 im gonna train buzzard bites recipe which i got a long time ago and lvl up that way. 

anyways, i just cooked 17 winter squid and got from lvl 286-289 so ill catch about 10 more and get some darkclaw lobster to cook till 300 im pretty sure i should only need 10 of thsoe.

I wasn't able to buy to the sandworm recipe either. I think they've taken it away...

I was level 58 when I first noticed it missing, so it has nothing to do with being lvl 70.

Because I am a fisherman, it was a little easier for me...you can pick up 3 recipes in Feathermoon Keep which are all orange at 290. The down side is all the fish you have to catch are all in 330+ fishing areas. I was only 275 fishing at the time and only had +75 fishing lures so I had a few misses while fishign, but after about 25 casts I got the 10 fish I needed. I fished at the lake in E. Plaguelands. Not very much aggro if you are careful. Oh, the recipes are for Whitescale Salmon, somekind of Lobster and Greater Mightfish (you can get in Azshara). Hope this helped you all.  BYE

runn tum tuber surpise recipe drops off pisillin in dire maul east, took me an hr solo, open the pods while you follow the little blighter, its seems like pot luck wheather you get tubers or deseaed from opening the pods but you only need to get lucky 2 or three times as the tubers come in stacks off up to ten

allot of recipe from 290 to 375 come from fishing...

all outlands town have some recipe from a seller...some have many too. soo if you are one of the lazy to not lvling fishing... just buy them on Auction house... will be a plaisure for me to keep make money from  food :P

Forget fishing.  From 2.4 patch notes:


New recipes, Charred Bear Kabobs and Juicy Bear Burgers, can be purchased from either Bale (Horde) or Malygen (Alliance) in Felwood. These recipes requires 250 skill to learn, and are created from meat found on level 48-56 bears. This will aid players in leveling up their cooking skill to 300 without fishing.

Yeah - mr funnyguy needs to show us patch 2.4 first Har-har

oh wow am I hot, and it's not the cooking fire making me so.  I leveled fishing at 225 at lvl 23 and had to wait forever to get the fishing quest from Nat, meanwhile, I leveled cooking as far as it would go without fish, which I couldnt' catch as I couldn't get to the places without the fishing quest........

so I get the quest, finally five levels later get to the places to catch the fish, turn in the quest, go fishing, cook, cook cooooook and more cooking on the only recipes I found and NOW at 295 they turn GRAY???????  For the last 20 point, I went through some seriously high dollar nightfins, at least 70 of them, and now I can't get it to go farther.

about 20 recipes await me when I turn 300 and up on cooking, so where exactly do I get the blasted recipe and food to cook to reach the next five points.  All I want is five MEASLY stupid cooking points, and that's it.

this is the MOST frustrating crap I've come across in this game so far, as for all the above places, anyone want to tell this lvl 43 where they ARE?  I've never HEARD of them.

yes, i'm a bit ticked, so am venting, sorry, neg the post if you like, but I'm sitting in feralas as I write this, catching fish for the last two hours so I could get to 300 and now finding I can't, well................

I'm done.  and almost done with the game over this one.

Buy the Baked Salmon Recipe (275 required) and either fish for the Whitescale Salmon that is required for recipe or just go to AH and hope that it's relatively cheap. Still, figure about 1 gold per fish. Luckily, if your cooking is at 291 then you'll only need about 12 fish to get to 300.

went to the guy Malygen in Felwood and there was only 1 recipe not 3...however I read in the March 28, 2008 patch (2.4) that they are being re-added to Malygen's items.  So for those that don't fish fly to the northern-most flight path in Felwood.  Also, if you do want to fish you should go to Azshara, find the cave the previous guy talks about.  if you cant fish from the mouth of the cave, just step to the left and you will be in the bay of storms....if you still cant fish swim back to shore to the strand and it is lower stlll....take plenty of supplies..b/c nothing is around.  I actually caught 1 darkclaw lobster from the cave mouth but then was cut off and swum out to a rock which was considered territory of the strand  and not the cave or bay of storms...3 different fishing levels all converge on this one area..hope this helps

The Juicy Burgers only takes U to 295 max, so U will still need to have the lobsters or the Salmon. U can often buy the Lobsters AH for 2 g a piece and u only need 5 so its not that bad.

Only gets you to 295.  The last 5 require the Sibilis cooking quest or the fishing recipes.

Baked Salmon is the way to go.  Caught what I needed at the lake in EPL in aobut 20 minutes (about 15 of them), bought the recipe in the AH for about 7 Gold (I know I overpaid, but saved time) and went from 285 to 300.
