i have a human lock becuse i have a hord shaman but any way what do you guys think

Okay, first of all locks don't melee.  It drives me crazy when I see locks with strength or agility enchants on things.  So, sword specialization is of NO use to a lock.  Gnomes and Undead are the best races for locks.......period.  Same for Mages. 

Orcs arnt bad either.

I have an undead lock on SHu Halo, and I think it's a great choice. Solo'ing humanoids Life Tap, and Cannibalize. PvP against another lock Will of the Foresaken.

Orc

+5% damage to your pet's melee (not much but nice).
15% stun resistance (useful vs the lock anti class- rogue).
+140 spell damage blood fury lasts 15ses also -50% healing for 15secs

Nice thing about blood fury is it doesnt share CD with trinkets so you can stack 140 spell damage onto your best trinket.

For pvp compare that to UD.  You should not really pvp without pvp trinket and puppy dispels charm, sleep and fear so only thing UD has over orc is cannibalism, good for pve but not really for pvp usually.

Most folk i know who have UD warlocks wish they had rolled Orc after blood fury was changed so I dont agree that UD is flat out the best.

yes orcs do have the blood fury but the WITF would top that off by far. i only have a 48 UD lock right now but i own orc locks just because of that verrry sweet racial.
i might just choose orc if going completly demo spec since youll be really depending on pet. but i go afflic so i need to be active 100% of the time.
and the canabalism is alwys useful, even in pvp

I prefer gnomes for their +5% intellect and escape artist, good to escape from a warr who's trieng to kite you

lol if affliction spec locks need very little intel, i am at only 8k mana at lvl 70 and if i use special ability dark pact i get +4k mana from imp, HP is where its at 15k fully buffed :D who needs mana when u can mana tap?
so i am undead lock with +1500shadow dmg and 15% crit

clearly the best race 4 lock is blood elf BLOOD theyre like evil they have evil laugh arcane torrent demonic energy!!!!!

There is no best race for a warlock.Every race that can be a warlock has its own abilities.For example

actually Gul'dan was the first warlock and he was a warlock way before blizzard even invented night elves back in Warcraft 2

and he was an orc

the comment that illidan is a night elf is false cuz his use of magice and demonic energy made him a high elf witch as we know today are bloodelves so bloodelves would be the firs I think.

  The best race for locks.  Well it also depends on your build.

1.  SL/SL - You either want to be a Gnome for escape artist or Undead for WoTF.  Orcs don't you help because you lose 50% of your health gain.  Humans have perception which is really nice for Arena (but I am more afraid of slow effects then spotting a rouge ealry).  Blood Elves. . .

2.  Destro - Gnomes for the int bonus for crits or Orcs for the bonus damage.  I put orcs on top.  Undead are always good because of WTF.  And humans still have perception and Blood Elves. . .

  In the end I put undead on top because WoTF is the most overall useful racial in the game still.  Yeah there are other ways to break loss of control of character effects but you usually need more then one per battle.  Second place goes to Gnomes because Escape Artist is an awesome racial for SL/SL locks.  Orcs go third because although Blood Fury is awesome that lost healing is bigger then you think.  Humans are fourth because Perception is underated (but not that much).  And then. . .  Blood Elves. . .  Because they can do something other then be the "Pretty Boy Duncan's" of the horde. . .  What am I thinking.  They just suck.

There are alot of good races for the warlock.  Undeadd has will of the forsaken and cannabalize which is just a way to regen mana.  But orcs have blood fury which along with amplify curse my curse of agony will pown anything.  Blood elves just kind of suck they have nothing that helps you out.  And who cares who the first warlock's were.  Does it even matter because i would say that orcs and undead are the best and that blood elves suck and you cant even be a nightelf lock in the game so wtf people.

    Increase resistance to stun effects by 15%.

Command
    Damage done by Hunter and Warlock Pets increased by 5%.

Axe Specialization
    Expertise with Axe weapons inceased by 5.
(sum stuff there is good 4 locks)

Undead

Will of the Forsaken
    Activate to become immune to fear, sleep, and charm effects. Lasts 5 seconds. 2 minute cooldown.

Cannibalize
    When activated, regenerates 7% of total health every 2 seconds for 10 seconds. Only works on Humanoid or Undead corpses within 5 yards. Any movement, action, or damage taken while Cannibalizing will cancel the effect.

Underwater Breathing
    Underwater breath increased by 300%.

Shadow Resistance
    Increase Shadow Resistance by 10.
      (dats alot of good stuff)

Blood elves

Mana Tap
    Activate to reduce target's mana by (50 + Level) and charge you with arcane energy for 10 min. This effect stacks up to 3 times. 30 yd range - Instant - 30 sec cooldown.

Arcane Torrent
    Activate to silence all enemies within 8 yards for 2 seconds. In addition, you gain 10 energy or (5 + Level) mana for each charge of Mana Tap currently affecting you.

Arcane Affinity
    10 point skill bonus to Enchanting (note, this also raises the cap by 10 at each level of enchanting).

Magic Resistance
    Increase all Resistances by 5.
          (Ok sum of these talents will not help you in the higher lvls, Arcane Torrent is still good)

Humans

Perception
      Activate to dramatically increase stealth detection - Lasts 20 sec - 3 min cooldown.
The Human Spirit
      Increase Spirit by 10%
Diplomacy
      10% bonus to faction point gain
Sword Specialization
      Expertise with Swords and Two-Handed Swords increased by 5.
Mace Specialization
      Expertise with Maces and Two-Handed Maces increased by 5.
(Nothing in here benefits for a lock besides Perception a little, I remember an article saying that humans are the worst race for warlocks, no offense to human warlocks)

Gnomes

Escape Artist
    Escape the effects of any immobilization or movement speed reduction effect. Instant cast. One (1) minute 45 seconds cooldown.
Expansive Mind
    Increase Intellect by 5%.
Arcane Resistance
    Increase Arcane Resistance by 10.
Engineering Specialist
    15 point skill bonus to Engineering (note, this also raises the cap by 15 at each level of Engineering).
          ( These are really good racials)

NOTE: Just remember the reason you chose ur class. Maybe you liked it n could imagine you playing him/her, so you chose. Your class could have the worth racials n you can still kik ass. I personally can never play as a gnome warlock the whole game, i would kill myself. HOPE DIS HELPS, : P

In truth it is Sargeras who was the first warlock madd long ago. N i believed it was the eredar who then became warlocks.

just so you know, the underwater breating ability is useless because as a lock, you get underwater breathing very early in the game...

and with bloodfury for the orcs, why is everyone saying the 50%heal reduction is a big deal? locks have pets to tank and therefore dont take alot of damage in pve or instances. for pvp, if you're any good you will stay away from the battle and DoT and crit everyone from afar. very rarely will locks even get a heal if there's a melee class taking damage nearby.

i say go orc or gnome, not undead.

Not to sound totally racist but IMO Gnomes look just damn creepy and rediculous atop a dreadsteed. They are the worst looking characters in the game.

If all you care about is the stats then I would say that Gnome wins hands down. Escape artist and improved intelligence can really benfit a warlock.

I know what your going to say, your appearance doesn't really count for sh*t in WoW and thats absolutly true but personally I just can't get over rolling a gnome character.

Indeed, but it was Kil'Jaeden who taught him, who was (and still is) an eredar (=corrupted draenei -> draenei warlock? XD). But he learned it from Sargeras, and he was a Titan who turned bad because of the Old Gods. So you see the very first warlock was a god, moreover, a multitude of gods, so my fellow warlocks, we should be very proud of our lineage. :D But the first conventional warlock was probably Kil'Jaeden and Archimonde.

About the topic: if you're thinking about which race is the best for a warlock, then you're not playing the game, you're a fanatic with no life at all. Choose whichever you like the best.

Gnomes make it easier to kill Warriors and Rogues, your 2 most feared classes.

Okay. I HATE gnomes. They look ridiculous. And every time i see one, I want to stomp on their head.

My first lock is a BE I chose specifically for looks, arcane torrent(cmon automatic silencing is awesome no matter for how long it is), and mana tap.

When it comes down to it though, I really dont think racials are the key factor in determining which class would make the best warlock. When you're a 70, whats gonna matter is where you put you talent points. I mean, the xtra racial benefits are great and all, but in the end, they only help very slightly in all.

But honestly, gnomes look really dumb riding a dread steed.

Oh, and rolling a gnome also makes it a lot harder to appreciate those epic garbs you're all looking forward to. :D

I would say Gnomes are pretty good for ally if you dont mind them being "verticly challenged", because their escape artist ability allows them to get out of snares and such in PVP but does not have much use in PvE. I am not against Humans though, as their Human Spirit ability is usefull as it makes their regeneration rate much faster, a usefull talent for any lock. I cant really speak on the Horde, as i dont have a lock on there yet, but i think the undead would be a good choice because their cannabalize ability is usefull for regaining health rididulously fast. But again, not having a Horde lock i really wouldnt know XD

Humans are more for Perception and Diplomacy...which aren't too useful.

Except in the arena, where you KNOW that there's a rogue/druid, or for those long rep grinds.

idk what lvl you are but im a 49 lock and nowadays my VW doesnt tank like he used to and i get a lot of the aggro and i don know why

ok i personaly think gnomes are the best lock race, but i juts cant bring myself to make one. so  i just went with a blood elf kuz highest mana of the entire horde and a 2sec silence(wich btw is extremly helpful for stoping healers).

so just go wichever you like the best. its not like your never going to kill ne1 kuz u picked the 2nd best or w/e. it really doesent matter so much. but if u really care, gnomes for ally or UD for horde.

I picked the undead warlock becouse they have bad ass animaition and to me look very evil and i see warlocks some what of a evil class

I'd say that horde locks overall are better than ally, since for gnomes, they don't really need that 5% boost escape artist is alright i guess, then not many ppl but mages use arcange, and engineering isn't that usefull.

And for humans, 10% spirit is useless for locks, perception is stupid since locks get paronia(i think thats the spelling)at lvl 42 on their felhunter wich inscreases stealth for you and party members all the time, locks don't really use swords in close combat, just the stats, and diplomacy...well thats good for anyone that is too lazy to do a little questing.

I personally have a UD lock and i think they're awesome, WotF is awesome against anyone, 10resistance for shadow is alright, cannibalizm is awesome for any non-healing class, and i guess underwater breathing is only good for arathi basin as far as i know.

The orcs +140 damage is pretty good, especially for destruction locks, 15% stun resistance, its like a arms warrior, and 5% more for pets is good for pvp and soloing

i think undead because the quest for your first minion is easy than all the others
