I dunno if the mate gets called either any more. I just did it, got Shy, killed without the mate ever being called. I'm level 60 rogue though and Shy got 1 fear off which I WotF off me, and was dead a few seconds later.

  Her mate is called if you are close to the tree when Shy-Rotam hits about 20% HP. And it's confirmed that they are not elites.

    just an added fyi. was working this quest today and noticed that only huntresses and pride watchers are listed as dropping the meat but I found some on a stalker today that ambushed me as I was farming the huntresses

    So you know, i did the quest twice today, one on my 70 helping a friend, and once on my 55 lock, both times we killed shy ONTOP OF THE SUMMONING STONE, and both times her mate did not come. i dont know if this is because we killed her so fast, or if they got rid of her mate.

      Was killing huntress and stalkers for about 45 min, when a plain "frostsaber" appeared at 50-20. This dropped the sacred meat. Good hunting.

        Was killing sabres for like 20 min when killed 2 stalkers and second dropped me that meat. around 50.13-14. Soloed as lvl 57 druid in cat form. killed shy rotam and ran away.

        I Killed frostsaber cubs...just two, and i got the meat. then tried solo'ing on my 56 rogue...i had it...until her mate came around 33% health
        
        then i got the meat off my FIRST frostsaber cub and a lvl 70 came helped me :)

        Ok, so i just did this quest at 7 in the morning and her mate DID appear. So they have not removed the mate from the quest. When whe was at 23% health she called for him and he came running out and started mobbing me. No problem really except for their fears every 2 seconds....I believe the reason he didn't show up for the 70 lock and his friend was because they killed her faster than she could call for him.
        P.S. Took me about 10 kills before the sacred meat dropped and it was from a Huntress, not that it really matters and i did this at lvl 57.

      She came right over the stone after dropping the meat, killed her with NP. As I was pelting her with ammo, about 20 seconds into it her mate came from nowhere, with rage. Got them both...a fun quest !! =(-_-)=

I did this quest as 55 mage, i had NO problems, summon Shy, then run into the ice lake and summon my elemental, Shy feard us a few times but i had ice block up then my element got agro and we just nuked down, btw i have 375 FA but it wasnt needed, i was suprized how easy this was.

Solo as 57 mage, Shy and his wife is both lvl 60, no longer elites as mentioned... took me 5 kills to get the meat to summon Shy.

He comes, it took me 2 1/2 hours, 2657 bullets, 17 Ritual meats or w/e of trying it.. with feigning death to reset her and try again each time, but he does come... i got em, now i will go die.

Just soloed Shy-Rotam without his add/mate spawning...Lvl 70 Fury warrior full epics, went from 25% to dead, no chance for spawn. Was helping my wife. Drop rate on the food blows...took about 10 minutes because they all had to respawn.
