They changed it to now be:

52 Fel Iron Ore = 20 Fel Iron Bars and 2 fel iron casings
          5 motes of fire+
10 motes of earth = 20 Elemental blasting powder
          8 star wood.

and is now trained from any 300+ Engineering trainer.

The skill comes from an undead named Jonathan Garret in Shadowmoon Valley and Niobe Whizzlespark in Wildhammer Stronghold near the Flying trainers and wyvern/gryphon vendors. It requires 350 engineering and lvl 70 to learn. In my honest opinion, the materials for this are nothing compaired to the 350 goggles. The upgrade to Turbo-Charged isn't all that bad, but the Hula Girl Doll is around 100g. Now if only we engineers can learn something to pursuade riding instuctors to lower their prices with some sort of gadget...

        I was wrong previously.

There aren't different versions of the flying machine.

You type /mountspecial to change your flight mode. Can only be done whilst stationary and mounted and it makes you hover without the main rotor for awhile.

Has any other Engineers had problems with their Gyrocopter?

I love zooming around, swooping and soaring around using my mouse. I even get to do a Barrel Roll. The only problem is that sometimes my 'Copter gets "stuck". I can't fly down, only up. When stuck I can try as much as I like to move forward, but it only results in my copter staying abolutely still, nose of the copter pointed straight up.

Arrow keys on the keyboard don't move it forward. The "Run" key doesn't make it move forward. The mouse doesn't make it move forward. I only am allowed to fly straight up.

I always make sure to pack my Parachute cloak for these occassions. I point my camera straight down, release my mount and go skydiving, with a 75% success rate timing the triggering of the cloak. Sometimes, with hills beside the landing zone, it gets difficult to judge how far from the ground you really are, and the cloak's powers wear off way too soon.

          Anybody else have any problems?

I havent tried this in respect to the copter (i havent made mine yet) but it "should" work.

            Type:
            /console pitchlimit 9999

On a normal flying mount it removes the 90 degree limit on your flying pitch angle so you can do loop the loops. With this turned on you should be able to unstick yourself without dismounting.

It makes some wacky visual things happen when you are flying, your mount appears to be spinning sometimes, so after you have unstuck yourself just

            type: /console pitchlimit 90

to set things back to normal.

(this is from memory, it might be "setpitchlimit" i forget)

I don't think blizz has a problem with players using this command but I would use it sparingly just to be safe.
