This boss can crush, keep shield block up (for warriors). Will crush a tank decked out in Kara gear for up to 5500.

This fight is MUCH easier if you call it when the electrical storm is going to happen in 5 seconds so everyone gathers up on the tank. The person he flings into the air for the storm will be above the clump of people every time.
Did this guy today in a raid group. He dropped the odd looking voodo mail mask.....Anyway,first attempt one of the ranged units didnt run in and "hug" him so as soon as the thunder came down bam he went flying up in the air and everyone else got screwed in around2-3 seconds.Thunder strikes everyone else.It deals so much damage its instant whipe. So it is very imporant that you have a raid warning or macro to make sure and warn everyone to come in.I think it was an emote he did or something or something like An eletrical storm is coming soon.Something anyway.....you'll know.He also calls down ravens which come down and peck at you,you need several people to take them. But they werent much of a problem. He would also use some thunder ability on you and i found he used an ability which made me go flying high up in the air, when i landed i was on 1%health as it was such a high fall.So be careful about that too,not much you can do but anyhow. He has a fair mount of health, you need 3-4 healers for him..you need a lot of mana. Its a long fight, for us 5-15 minute fight.Anyway other than that hes simple.Good luck :)
Btw one thing, people have commented how they drop 1 badge.Dropped 2 for us today so there might be a tiny chance of them dropping 2.But Zul'Aman,i love this raid dungeon.Good fun,but you need kara geared or better tanks for this especcialy and healers with big mana pools.Dosent matter too much if 1-3 of the people have mostly blue gear as usually they're not the ones taking the damage IF....you have a good tank.Only 1 tank is required for this boss. But i must of used the battle shout button with 2 min cooldown about 6 times in this fight as it kept fading. An awfully long fight:).But worth the effort i say.Bad ass gear!
Gauntlet strategy: Split your raid into three groups:
1. Any Paladin + 1/2 AoE classes + 1 healer 2. MT + 2 DPS classes + 1 healer 3. OT + 1/2 DPS class + 1 healer Sap/MC the lookout to buy some time (MC moreso than Sap) and engage and burn the first 2 elites as a group. As the second is going down, position group 1 ahead of everyone and intercept the birds with consecrate + righteous fury. Group 3 should position themselves behind everyone and intercept the 2 trolls. Once the first pack of birds are down, the MT goes and group 2 gets the next 2 elites. Group 1 goes ahead of group 2 and lays down a consecrate for the next birds. Group 3 polishes off their 2 trolls and follows behind. Always keep Group 1 ahead of Group 2 and Group 2 ahead of Group 3. Move as a group keeping that order. Group 1 DPS helps burn group 2's elites while there are no birds, group 2's dps helps burn group 3's trolls while the MT is nailing down his elites. Very easy. Once we got this down, we one-shot this every time with zero deaths. Now to the clucking chicken. Step 1 is to go down to the landing on the stairs right below Akil'Zon's platform. Everyone pick a spot around the perimeter of that landing who is not melee dps or the tank. Try and keep one healer on the left side, one on the bottom and one on the right side. These will be the spots you stay and return to during the fight. Doing it here allows for a visual concept for everyone so they know where they are. Go upstairs (making sure everyone is above the steps!) and have the MT engage. Everyone then runs onto the platform he stands on and takes the spots they were assigned. Let tank get hate, dps as normal. Using bossmods, you will have a general idea of when the storm is coming. After the first, it may be off +/- 5 seconds. When there are 5-10 seconds to go, everyone come in slightly (5 yards in) and wait and dps. When the storm hits, flock to the spot. Closing in slightly allows for anyone on the opposite side of the stormee enough time to run in before the big bolts hit. After the storm ends, everyone goes back to their spots. Rinse and repeat. If you have a lock, have them seed the birds. No other dps on them! When the next storm hits, pop AoEs as birds swoop down. That's all there really is to this.
we finally beat this guy by changing our sound settings. DBM and bigwigs fail to time the lightning storms accurately enough to base your collapse time on them.
In your sound/chat settings menu turn off music and sounds, and turn ambient sounds (or ambience) on and all the way up. When lightning storm is about to happen you will hear rain crescendo, as soon as you hear it, collapse to your designated spot. When the storm is not in progress you should hear crickets and frogs.
If the raid stays disciplined and you keep quiet in the TS and go by the sound of the lightning storm, he is as easy as Tank&Spank Bosses get.
Overall he is the easiest Boss in ZA and should probably be the final one to kill if you go for timed loot all the way. The best and most promising order to kill the Bosses for the Timed Loot would be: Nalorakk, Jan'Alai, Halazzi, Akil'Zon. Provided you have a Paladin Tank, the Gauntlet is piece of cake. The 2nd tank watches the group's back and the Pally storms forward, tanking the elites and Birds. Then Bomb away and you will reach Akil'Zon in no time.
STRATEGY FOR ELECTRICAL STORM:
Turn down all sound Volume sliders except for Master and Ambience. Besure that the Ambience box is checked. Just listen for a rainstorm sound while fighting him, and that is when you should announce to collapse. Deadly Boss Mods was always off for us, and this tactict worked wonderful.
Piss easy fight, it's just the gaunlet trash event before that might be tricky. When you get too close to the first mob(guard) on the road to akilzon he will start the event. At this point he will run up( he cant be killed) and warn the others. Then from time to time waves of birds will spawn. You can buy some time by letting a priest MC the guard. I'm only sure that will work, not sure bout sap(sheep doesnt work). You need to move your way up as quick as possible on the stairs, when you engage this guy called tempest something the waves of birds will end. So get up their as soon as possible.
Akilzon itself is a pushover. Just dont trust DBM! it isnt reliagable on this fight. Everybody spreads out, like a circle around akilzon(cause of the aoe lightening thingy)and make sure you have mastervolume 100% and ambience 100% in the sound options. Now, if you hear it's starting raining and storming and stuff, everybody runs in and piles up on the tank. When the rain sounds are gone, go to your original positions. That's pretty much it. For the healers, we always do this with 1 pala healer on the MT, one healer on MT and raidhealing and 1 healer only on raid. You can heal easily trough the dmg the packs of birds do, just make sure to keep everybody topped off for when he blasts somebody with his lightening thing.
There is a way to make the gauntlet easier, if you follow the wall around to a tree growing out of a pond, you can /target amani'shi tempest and a warlock can send his imp up to attack, sometimes you get the last pair of adds at the top of the path too. this short circuits the event and you can proceed up the hill with no eagles.. drawback is you arrive at the boss with less time til respawn.
Just tried to kill yesterday as a 70 MM hunter, got him to 10%, we didn't focus on the bird, lock said he would and didnt..eventually the birds jumped the tank and died, healer dead. so after that incedent we tried Halazzi, the Lynx Avatar. tank wasn't ready for the fight when a PRIEST Pulled. (he was regaining mana and health (druid and warrior = tanks.)so i'm gonna try again today to down him.
this time hopefully the chest drops my gun... wish you all good luck on this boss.
You can just ingore the birds and heal trough it quite easily, the dmg they do is pretty low. Just make sure to have 1 pala only on tank duty and one healer on the raid and on the tank and the other healer on the raid.
Ok the best way to call the storm is turn down all game sounds except for ambient. This way you can hear the storm as it comes. This works sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much better then dbm which gets off over time.
I really wonder about the drop rates on these things... been farming this guy for a few months now on my priest hoping for that necklace, these are the rates so far as per Mobinfo:
Chestguard of Hidden Purpose 4 (29%) Mojo-mender's Mask: 3 (22%) Signet of Ancient Magics: 2 (15%) Amani Punisher 2 (15%) Executioner recipe 1 (8%) Bloodstained Elven Battlevest 1 (8%) Akil'zon's Talonblade 1 (8%) Now where is the healer necklace?
OK i dont know if you will all read this but i know a really really cool explit to stopping the gauntlet up to the eagle boss... you will need
A warlock A priest ( optional to MC and mark ) Two tanks Ranged dps First off go around the side of the gauntlet where the shore of the lake is - there will be a pillar and the warlock must run up the side of the cliff as high as he can - just under the small hut - you must have the warlock do /target amani'shi tempest-- he can target him and he will mark him with a skull. everyone is spread out and the warlock sends his IMP up to the tempest - get ready as mobs come down the hill and the tank needs to pick up the TEMPEST and the other tank needs to pick up the melee mob. There WILL BE a caster mob who DOES stay at the top of the cliff so the ranegd dps needs to NUKE him down as fast as they can - they need to kill the melee mob then move onto the tempest - kill him and the gauntlet will be over stopping the waves of mobs coming towards you - move onto the eagle boss and that is you ^^ This tactic saves a lot of time on the timer Add Comment
