He doesn't drop anything, just falls and completes the quest.
You have to find the q Is it Real? somewhere in theramore, then u go to the tidefury cove[65,86] and find a guy who will tell you about Tethyr[quest It Is Real] and then get back to the theramore's docks to mayor and he'll tell you to kill the monster with cannons
anyone know what lvl he is?
Still skull level to a 62, so he's either 72+ or special, I'd guess the latter since people around level 40 can still hit him. Special bosses are rated as something like (your level + 3) when you're fighting them, for you.
Tried out the quests in Dustwallow, Tethyr is still a skull at 70, but can be killable, but has like a jillion hitpoint.
he got around 15k hitpoints get mobingo2 and you can see his hp.
i defeated him at lvl 46 XD not hard since he dont damage.
Seeing as a 70 mage i casted about 300k dmg at him i doubt its 15k, any hp meter is only an estimate based on your damage and how much % it takes off
He attacked me... took 75% of my life with one it, lucky for me he didn't attack me again...
At 64 he was a skull to me, but he is not that hard to kill especially since he doesnt attack you.
does n e 1 know where to start the quest???
where does this quest start at? i ran all though theramore several times and couldn't find a quest giver.
LV 57 Hunter
This is a 7 part quest chain. The first part of it is called "This old Lighthouse"
It starts at Seargent Amelyn.
Good luck!
ok, this boss is pretty easy when you know how - did this with a lvl 33 shaman and hunter team
after you've visited the lighthouse you need to get thresher oil - the threshers are found in the bay, lvl 35 mobs - kill em till you have enough
the next stage is to visit the fish gutting fellow on the docks; he'll then send you off to another fellow on a small island across the bay. this guy wants you to cover yourself in fish bait and swim to a nearby shipwreck. you *will* get attacked, but we got a complete on this one after killing one lvl 37 shark.
you'll then learn the secret that tethyr *does* exist, and only appears when the lighthouse is lit. you're directed to an npc (sergeant mills, i think) on the docks, who starts the 'kill thethyr' quest.
when tethyr swims into the bay you'll be able to target him, but not attack until all 12 marksmen are in place. basically, don't attack him directly - he'll resist/evade everything - but use the mortars instead (as soon as you get a cog over the mortar, use it - the cooldown is about 10 seconds). each hit takes approx. 10% of his health, and you need to kill him before all the marksmen are dead.
periodically, he fires water jets which push you back without doing an awful lot of damage. if you get pushed back too far you will fail the quest - try and hang around the middle mortar, as you can be pushed against the tower wall and not fail.
if the marksmen are all dead he'll start firing water bolts at you which hurt quite badly - try not to let it get that far.
If you're in your high 30's or higher then it's fun to beat on him rather than using the mortars. Did this without mortars in a group of 2 Myself (38 shaman) and a hunter also 38, it was a bit close and only had 3 marksmen left at the end but it was fun to go all out for a few minutes on Tethyr.
Quest is - Take down Tethyr. Its a string of quests in theramore. I wasnt sure at first what to do. It tells you to control the mortors. Basically there are several cannons (mortors) on the docks. They kinda sparkle a little. Run up to one and click on it- right click when your ready and it fires at the boss. I think I had to do this from the cannons about 5 times before it died. I am a lvl 40 shaman and did this alone. It wasnt too difficult, you just have to be prepared to run alot. The boss spits water at you so you get blown away. The xp was very nice- 4350. Plus you recieve 75 silver and the choice of several items.
Came off the boat on my 49 rogue just now when I noticed this guy
I was confused because there was a ?? Leet in theramore isle...
within about 15 seconds there was about 12-18 people attacking with ranged and melee. I didnt take any damage and no one died. Took about a minute or so without cannons.
Overall its a lot of fun when you're not expecting it...
Ok, this is a 7 part chain starting with Sergeant Amelyn (68,52). He's normally on a horse in front of the fountain on the way from the boat to the FP. Here is the chain (couldn't add links as there are no pages for these q's yet).
1. This Old Lighthouse - Given by Sgt. Amelyn (68,52)
Go to the lighthouse and speak to Babs Fizzletorque (72,47).
2. Thresher oil - Given by Babs Fizzletorque
Just go to the docks at Theramore and all the threshers are there. Only drops off Young Murk Threshers. Back to Babs Fizzletorque when done.
3. Dastardly Denizens of the Deep - Given by Babs Fizzletorque
Back to the docks and hand in to 'Dirty' Michael Crowe (69,52)
4. Is it real? - Given by 'Dirty' Michael Crowe
Go SW to a small island at 59,60 and hand into Nat Pagle (nice to see he has his own place now).
5. Nat's Bargain - Given by Nat Pagle
Use the oil he gives to you and head SW to the sunken ship at 56,63. A lvl37 shark spawns and tries to bite yer @ss off. Kill him and return to Nat Pagle.
6. Oh. It's real - Given by Nat Pagle
Go back to the docks and hand in to Major Mills at 70,51.
7. Take Down Tethyr
Use the mortars around the dock and kill Tethyr. If you have enough time before this water spout reaches you, stand directly in front of the mortar so you don't get knocked back miles away.
Also be aware that if he knocks you off the 'piers', you will land in the water and it will take longer to get back to the mortar. Use the one with the castle wall to your back.
Hope this helps.
lol hes really easy to kill , i just ran around in travel form and clicked the canons wasnt even hit once with water spout i was lvl 34
That should be tameable :)
what do you get from doing that quest?
I've been swimming around for a while now and no shark has spawned. I'm doing it with a lvl60 because I just saw Tethyr in the harbor and was like "woah, wtf is that?!" Then I found the quests for it and started to do 'em.
Is there a specific spot around the ship you need to be for the shark to spawn or am I screwed because of my level and I have to aggro him or something??
And yes, I am putting the fish paste on....
nevermind lol, wrong shipwreck
Seems like you have to be in front of the shipwreck for the shark to spawn. Damn annoying swimming through the whole ship with no shark spawning.
If you fail the quest, wait about 5 minutes, Major Mills will reappear and you can try again.
seeing this kinda startled me and the weather changes were OMGWTFing me i saw a boss elite and i was like... what the hell is azeroth coming to :p. and icame to the conclusion the lurker below has a brother ^_^
has approx. 100,000 health....Beast Lore is actually being useful!
Brunesgoth-49 hunt-Elune
Solo'd this with m 34 Shammy. Somehow, one can do the whole thing in Ghost Wolf form. I guess you can launch mortars with the smae action of scratching flee's off your neck. Hey, at least it worked. Took about 2 min.
this quest is really easy. people see and they're like, AWESOME!! so they attack it. so, you get alot of help. plus. he only shoots water bolts, that only hurt me for half of my health (im a lvl 37 druid)....and when he dies, fireworks go off =)
I just did this quest 10 minutes ago, its a chain quest at the end. Basically, you talk to Marshall thingy and start it, the lighthouse is lit and the skies go dark. Archers line up on the docks and a huge creature appears. Whoever is doing the quest can right click the cannons to fire cannonballs at him. He will use a knockback ability all the time, so you'll just have to run back to the edge if you get knocked back. He doesn't come out the water and he doesn't melee. If you go into the water and attack him with melee, he still won't hurt you. He is a lvl 100 elite beast. The rewards for this quest are really good. *nod*
i hate him i attacked him and im only a lvl 15 there was about 12 of us and no there were lvl 70s with me but not grouped up
i was flying past then i saw spikes in the water moused over em and there he is flew back and he was alredy dead :(
lol right after i posted there he is again hes actually very easy lvl 49 paladin pharagon
and i disagree he has no melee atacks cause i got close to tank him and he bit me......hard
Because no one else has said it and it's what I thought when I first saw him....
THAT'S A HUGE BITCH!
Lol I actually did the quest Take Down Tethyr! where you have to kill him with mortars, and when I was done I got rid of the quest and did it again lol :P
Tethyr doesn't drop any loot. He just disappears after you kill him.
hes fun to attack while someones doing the quest cause his attacks do no dmg to you.. makes ysou feel strong , like a high lvl instance
the quest is in theramore isle and he does not drop anything cuz you can“t loot him but the quest gives rewards
One of the sweetest looking NPCs ive seen. Shame blizzard doesn't put a ton of effort into making more things look this cool.
if you havent noticed its the same mob they used in SSC+some attacks. i just realized it after having seen someone else killing him for the first time.
if u look at the map it says he has been spotted way out in the great sea has anyone else seen him there?
ive seen him out in the great sea very rare spawn. happens round 10:32 saturday 1once a week and he cant be killed out there because right where you can attak him is fatigue zone. he just sits there.lol
fyi the fatigue zone starts 5 strokes before hunter can attack with bow plus it has a longer ranged melee that can kill in like 3 hits on lvl 70
He has 145972 hp, my addon calculated it
