Hello im enhancement and I dont know if I Should get merciless 2 handed or merciless onhanded. I play alot of pvp but in the end aint 2 weps better? please respond!

my friend and i like to arena ALOT, hes an ench shammy, with Dual wielding talent but got bored of dual wielding, he goes along and makes himself that Stormheral shit thing and places a nice fat Savagrey on it, he did more BURST as a 2 hander, but dual wielding is good in raids and DPS, some people might say other-wise

IMO, for nice Stormstrikes, go dual wielding, but u can try and get a 2 hander for nice big WF crits

Depends. 2h arena is ALL luck based, basically you hit SS the moment its up and PRAY for WF proc since a WF from Thunder on up can 1 shot clothies.

DW offers relatively high WF procs and higher sustained DPS, but (normally) can't 1 shot anything.

Raid environment you ONLY use 2 weapons. Higher DPS, less threat, no 2h weapon in the game can out DPS even 2 green 60 DPS 2.6 speed weapons. None.

Got to remember the hidden WF cooldown is out there to so if you are gonna dual weild go with the slowest Weps you can find, or Go with the fastest never somewhere in the middle :D

2handers do higher burst damage for PvP when WF procs, but you pray for a 20% proc chance on 2handers every 3.6 seconds for each swing, whereas DW has a 36% chance to proc on either hand.

And never, never, never use fast weapons while DWing. Ever. Always go slow, as in 2.6+ speed.

It's depand I use slow 2H for clothier or runner not soo many hits but pretty hard and slow or slow/fast 2x1H with/without shield for melee.

am i the only one that noticed that in damage meters 2h and DW shamans are almost equal...all the math you think is right doesn't mean anything when 2 equally geared shamans are tied on the damage meters, and i've seen this plenty of times with different shamans so it does come down to hitting like a truck or swinging like a madman

Then you have soley witnessed something that the entire rest of the raiding shaman community has proven otherwise.

In other words: There is something not equal about them. Or the DW shaman was using 2 fast weapons - which is horrible.

well, this is what i think as dual wield enhancement shaman.
dual wield is better for several reasons.

first, as enhancement line has many trigger-on-crit abilities, 2 weapons give the possibility to obtain crits more often.
Second, when the windfury timer is over and makes it available again, the "chance to trigger per second" is greater so more time-efficient
third, as shaman don't wield their weapons as good as a warrior, a miss won't hurt you too much when dual wielding when a 2-handed guy will say : "duh! missed! I'm doomed"
and at last : i like it when i see the dmg i deal on three columns :D

Whether you are going with a 2 hander or two 1 handers I think should be based largely on your talent preference. For instance, in enhancement, your last ability is really much better (besides the 30% dmg reduction) for a duel wielder. Theres a bunch of talents in enhancement really that only helps out duel wielding. So instead, you can save some points, move over to the resto tree, and get yourself "insta heal", making 2 hander better for smaller battles (aka pvp).  As for the rest, well, the talent tree seems to be leaning towards duel wielding.

ok...much debated qn and i have tried it out and well, tell u honestly...
2handers hurt MUCH MUCH more than DW...not saying DW doesn hurt but well, look at it this way, one its got the inbuilt miss thing and 2nd its sort of like a chip-chip-chip dmg...as in u need to keep on hittin
with a 2h trust me all the math and the dynamics is gonna be back-seated in a BG where what YOU do as a player counts more...
so, generally in really good fights, what happens is the 2 guys will never stay in front of each other going , "ok hack away at my balls while i do at urs"...
its more of a constant moving thing...
they'll keep running into and then away from each other...like u kno thru each other, quick turn around 180 get a shot and move outta radius...
so in that case, u'll pack QUITE a punch with ur 2h...
like 2k-2.5k crits...
while ur 1h will crit for max 1-1.2k
so, again it all comes down to style of play...
i'd say 2h is more burst dmg tho DW is more dps...take ur pick
i use DW coz well, it suits my style but a good 2h is irreplacable...
and good observations about the proccing of ur crits and WF, but trust me when WF procs on ur 2h...egad its OUCH
tho keep in mind the dps(only ur AP tho not the WF AP) penalty on the off-h while ur 2h gets the full dps bonus
and about sham-rage :P totally true...
u can hack urself upto 3/4th of ur mana with that talent...oyea
ok, they perked it up a bit with that dmg redn...tho i say well, it needs a lil more work...
cmon 40 points down a talent tree, ur looking for something GOOD, not just mana regen or stuff like that which just helps in PvE...maybe a modifier on the AP or critting would be nice on that talent

hi, i understand your question:) with duel wield u get more stable damage.... but i like a slow 2h.... BIG crits... half hp in 2 sec... but u must do what u feel for.. i like big crits

ok...1) mate Grace of Air and WF are both air totems...so cant use them both at the same time
2) WF cant buff ur wep when u already have a WF buff on it and 2ndly it isn as powerful as the WF ON the wep

BUT,
as u said, its a VERY exciting set of oppurtunities ahead...and if ur looking at chants like Executioner and Mongoose, then u'll want to consider Bloodlust too, our 70 spell...its pure devestations...all party members get 30% haste on melee and casting...and if ur so interested going melee (which i think u are) then u'll consider Stormstrike and then Shamanistic Rage...and of course Flurry...(all in the enhancement tree)

so, exciting prospects...have fun!

well for my part as said above, i go dual wield with 2 winfury and 2 mongoose enchants (who stacks to get up to 240 additionnal dex adn very fast attack speed) so i can proc  a maximum of hits and critics to trigger all the flurry-like abilities.

i do much more average damage then slow 2-handers even if you have to stand not seeing 3-4k dmg reports. but instead of seeing one 4-5k dmg report you'll see like 4-5 1200 dmg reports at once (storstrike with 2 windfuries proc and crits is awful i've done over 6k within 1/2 a sec)

now, you do whatever you want....

does mongoose stack?
i thought chants like that dont stack right?
(it would be a VERY VERY SCARY thing for any other class if it DID stack on a DW shammy...oooh boy they are on the soup alright)

You obviously dont know shammys very well because u cant proc windury more than once every 3 seconds... its a hidden cooldown that alot of shammys dont know about. thats one of the things that is misleading about shamans and DW.. everyone thinks that they are going to have awesome dps and too many windfury procs to count with DW, but its not that way at all... and yes mongoose can stack if u have it on both weps.  I wouldnt recommend mongoose on both though because of that hidden windfury cooldown.. its about 3 seconds.

When it comes to 2h or DW its a pretty simple answer
2h for pvp
DW for Raids

2h is especially good when u have a good dps wep and have mongoose on it. that way u get the speed increase and agility for more crit when mongoose procs.. then u have the possibility of windfury proccing too.  that makes hell of alot of burst dmg.  at no point do u ever want to have sustained dps in BGs or Arena. Every1 also forgets that a big part of shammys lineup is their shocks.  2h + shocks = giant burst of dmg.                          Stormstrike also still works with 2h btw.. so the long wait for wep speed on a 2h is reduced alot.

Yes, yes they are.

so in the end DW for pve and 2H for pvp, right?

i have 2 1h maces 2.70 i us WF on both and i never came in lower then 2nd place in DPS and thats only wen a lvl 70 helps...and im still doing half there dmg at lvl44

id go DW with WF on both just cus more crits meen less mana for shocks even faster dmg  XD also u might not do more per hit but wen i can atack 2 or 3 times wen u hit me once i do more dmg cus thats probly 1 or 2 WF procs

Well, 36% chance to proc isn't exactly encouraging, its only a 16% increase from a 2h.

I guess it depends on how you like it, i prefer a good old quick hits, i have a Feral Druid, i always use cat form for dps and i love the 1.00 attack speed, i am pretty much immune to disarm, as in it doesn't lower my dps at all.

I know rogues are the dps kings, but i just love cat form more, if they made a Single Player World of warcraft, you know, nothing like the current WoW, but a special Story Driven SP campaign, like Titan Quest or Diablo 2, i would so pick Feral Druid everytime.

I know its not gonna happen, but it would be cool if it did.

Anyway, it all depends on your preference really.

DW : dual weild, which is a talent in the enhancement tree which u get a lil past lvl 40 if my memory doesn fail me

Definetly dual weild.  You will benifit much more from stormstrike.
