Why? Blizz didnt make the Warriors able to go DPS for no good reason, thier is a reason.  True Warrs are the best tanks and will continue to be good tanks, but thier armor also allows them to hold out longer making them useful for anything.  Get over it

a good dps warrior has insane dps and can out dps a rogue any day but they are a lot more items bassed and u have to be able to play well because its not as easy as rogues dps.
fury warriors have a lot more armor than rogues, do more damage and now have -10% threat generation but ppl dont like them because they see a warrior as a tank.
i used to be fury warrior but respecced to protection because no one wanted me in groups and i would get a /w every 5 mins asking if i wanted to tank in an instance

dps warriors have their place...they can turn out some pretty consistent numbers and shine during the last 20% of a fight... and any 25-man worth anything will bring at least a few dps warriors, because the last 20% of the fight is usually the make or break time as mana can become thin, etc etc, thus they tip the scale

i don't honestly understand why 95% of warriors roll dps (90% of them being arms) and then QQ up a storm because everyone wants them to tank...

Lol its a game why shouldnt people play as they like.  If you dont feel they have a place in a party dont invite them.  Some people go to 70 without ever entering an instance or even intending to.

Each to their own, if they didnt play dps warrior they may not play at all so its not as if you have lost a tank.

Everyone whines about DPS warriors, because you know, all warriors should be stuck doing squat damage so even the ones who intend to be tanks take forever and a day to actually reach 70.

I have an arms/fury warrior for pvp, my mains raiding guild has an arms/fury warrior as one of their officers and he is in the top 5 in DPS all the time. 

Okay, I am a DPS warrior.  This is the down low.  A DPS warrior's specialty is PvE, as it revolves around massive damage and crits with the use of a 2h weapon, preferably an axe or polearm.  Arms is primarily a solo questing class, and no matter what anyone says, that's what an Arms warrior is best at.  A well made DPS warrior can kill an elite mob of the same level with little trouble, especially if they raise their crit rate properly.  An ideal 70 DPS warrior sports an average crit rate of 40% or more (using epic armor/weapons) and uses a combination of Slam and Flurry to deal damage at an insane rate.  DPS warriors can take roughly as much damage as a tank, give or take, but don't put out nearly as much threat, meaning they ARE NOT a tanking class, nor will they ever be, as much as some DPS warriors wish it were true.

In PvP, a DPS warrior is second to none, as I normally critted for anywhere between 1200-2000 damage, and fairly often, 1/3 or 4 hits.  Using a combination of Overpower, Victory Charge, and Thunderclap, I was able to kill rogues, hunters and warriors with little difficulty.  My main failing was facing locks and mages, as DPS warriors don't take magic well, and generally had crappy magical resistances.  Against other warriors, I did better against Protection than Fury, and Arms was about 50/50.  Ultimately, it fell down to who was more skilled in the end when it comes to PvP.

Failings of DPS warriors are that they don't have a stun ability, and that they usually sport 10% less damage resistance than their tanking counterpart.  They also tend to concentrate more on strength and agility than stamina, favoring damage output over life expectancy.  They also can't take magic all that well, and they have trouble with Stealth enemies as much as any other class unless their careful.  Then worse comes to worse, DPS warriors fall when outnumbered, and die quickly when facing higher level elites.

Like any class, they have their ups and downs.  It all depends on what the situation calls for and what they personally prefer.  Some people see them as godsends and others see them as the plague, and either way, they're always going to pop up here and there regardless of what you believe.  It's best to just accept them as they are and live with it.

IF u talking about pve(if i understand correctly lol) MS warrior with blood-frenzy and MS debuff is a MUST in 25 men raid,and DW fury warrior can do better dps than rogues if they are gear-ed,so what are u on about.blizzard make this game not telling warrior only go prot,coz 1/3of the talent is called prot ,and 2/3 is called arm and fury.hope u guys get better understanding of it

not braggin or anyfin but my fury warrior pretty much out dps's almost anyfing yea some time's i might have a challenge from a affliction lock or a mage and sometimes a hunter ( but cummon hunters also have their pet to count aswell.... i cant get over how many ppl hate fury warrior's i spose its the tankin issue ??? well ppl .. druids can tank .. pala's can tank so wots the big deal ????

I love being a PVP Warrior  42arms/19fury/0. Crit- is only 37.58% a good crit hit is 6000+ > using ms- hamstring-plummel-all shouts- excecute- FTW> GAME OVER. After some bad raids or grps I now say  "u want a proct. tank, get a pally".

Right now my warrior is 65 arms and I am pvp all the way. I am not big on instances because everyone expects you to be their bitch and you end up with a 10g repair bill. I get more satisfaction ownning in the BG. As far as dps an arms or fury warrior will out dps a rogue anyday. There is nothing like walking through a crowd and unleasing a cleave and watching people start backing up becuase you nailed 2 or 3 of them for 1500 or better.I have a 70 rogue and I would rather play my warrior anyday. But my biggest satisfaction is going toe to toe with a rogue 3 or 4 lvls over me and owning him. :)

WTF!!! So having a warrior limits us to one talent tree "Protection"????

What are we supposed to do in a battleground, throw our shield at them? Come on, Fury warriors rule "even if they are basically PvE specialists". We can pvp quite well too, but we dont get the big numbers that arms gets. Still doesn't mean the overall damage output isn't the same or better...

Pally's probably the best tanking class in the game, then maybe druid as they have AoE aggro "and yes i am aware of Thunderclap but cmon, its not as effective". So to tank we warriors have to "Stance Dance" to get best results and even then its a button mashing mission that can go sour the first time a dps class multi-crits.

I go into bg's and yes I'm not well dressed yet, but there's something rewarding about charging into a well dressed clothie and being virtually immune to fear and able to interrupt nearly all their spells. add trinket and you become a problem, next thing you know "Your in bg and you charge in and 5-6 enemies stop what they are doing to kill you. Those valuable seconds can win you the bg.

So please, leave us warriors alone, we do mad damage and can take almost unbelievable damages ... Add healer and warriors outdo all classes. So next time you make a new class, think warrior not just for tanking, but for fun fun fun.

I love how you guys put it, its brilliant. I am a lvl 52 Fury War. I love my DPS, cause i can put out more DPS then most of the people i run with, like you guys said Blizzard didn't make the game with the 8 classes it has, then decide to make you all run the same thats why they put in a damn talent tree. sigh.

My defense in the BG, lol.  Make everyone hate you because you are unstoppable.  I love to run out of the GY in WSG and have 4 or 5 waiting on me at the bottom.  With my pally or priest in the bushes, I make them all look like clowns. 

The thing that annoys me the most is when you join a party, people assume you're the tank. The same thing happens to spriests  over who's healer.

omg, look guys, im a fury warrior nd i can tank very well in proteccion stance, all warriors can tank vry well in their prot stance, doesnt matters their spec, of course a prot warrior is better tank than arms and fury, but in my case im fury, i never get booted for that(in partys to do instances) and ive tabked a shitload of instances, besides ppl tellme that i do very good.
The god thing of having a fury warrior tanking is that they can do much more damage than any other class even when they use shield.

I have a protwarrior and they listen to me, one time the "its your fault attitude" against anyone in the party=kick, enough healers and DPS around anyway, I cant log in without 3 people asking for a heroic so no I'm nobodys bitch, they listen to me or im out, GL finding another tank that does PuG's :p

cant arena with a fury warr tho....need an arms warrior with a 2h to burst em hard since u only have a few sec before kiting, frosting and traps starts to slow u down..

ROFLAMO! I love that line..."what do we do? throw our shields at them." The other day I was asked help in kill an elite I replied that I am MS, mainly PVP. They said ok, well we wiped!  One player blamed me, and insisted I use def. stance, demo. shout etc, I dont even carry a shield, that player left we did slay the elite.

My prot warrior can kil most arms . . Im not kidding.
A great set of gear and a smart player can use a full tanbk spec to beat MOST dps warriors/ret pallys, and rogues.
Dont belive me? log into your melee character, find a well geared tank, take him ouside SW and watch him pown ur face off

Well it may just be my lvl (43) and fury, but recently for the past 5 times ive ran SM or ZF ive done 50% of my teams entire damage...even when we have a lock or mage a few lvls higher than me. I hate ahving to tank...i dont like shields they bother me but when i do have to use a shield i can hold all the aggro pretty well and no one dies.

true arms/fury warriors can tank w/o being prot , but till about outland lvl and esp at 70 , that changes, the instances and bosses  there are very hard and to tank proper at 70 you would need to be prot. that really when gearing and ur role comes into play

I'm Fury warrior with complete season 3 gear and dual wheeled. Once people see what you can do you are welcome in both PvE and PvP. Its funny to see healers starting to heal you once they see that you can kill 4 or 5 horde (sorry i'm alliance) players in a row when they give me a decent healing.
Without that healing you are more dead then alive and are spending about 50% of your time on the graveyards of battlefields.
Just would like to see a shorter time on my possibility to remove immobilisation spels etc  because we are so dependent on close combat. Right now a rogue can stun me for such a long time that i loose over 50% before i can do 1 hit  and start building rage  then they can go in hiding when they loose too much and i'll never see them again.

ok i may not be a warrior but my 2v2 partner transfered over to my server bout a month ago. Hes full s3 with weapon and all vindicators and hes arms spec.......he owns. Seriously i hardly have to heal him now he jus takes um down so fast. weve been pvpin for like a month now and we got a 1780ish rating. I gota say when he does some raids with us he does good dps too. We subed him in for a rogue that left on Lurker. He came in 3rd for dps. and Why Loth dps warriors theyre just here to help imo and now that im thinkin of it why should warriors be steriotyped into being tanks when theyre dps is jus as good let them play wat they want to.

I was Arms until I hit 70, at which time I made the choice to re-spec protection, and learn tanking as we had no tanks in our guild. There is a need for all 3 talents in the game, must be why blizzard made it that way. I love having a dps warrior with me in groups. I take the punches, and they kill them quickly. A dps warrior can also off-tank in a pinch. My only advice to the dps warriors in a group with a prot tank, don't exceed the tanks threat, we have enough on our hands with the mobs and watching the healer. I won't be able to pull the aggro off a dps warrior, and do the rest as well, so I usually won't try. exceed tanks threat = death usually.

This has been a great read and very helpful so thanks everyone who contributed. I'm at level 69 (solo'd most of the way) and recently switched from protection to arms, I'm enjoying it so much better because I go through enemies much faster.  I still keep my shield and one handed sword handy cuz reflecting spells on PVE casters and interupting shammy heals is just good clean fun (I need to figure out how to create a macro to switch between 2H vs 1h+shield though) does anyone else do this?

Well, i believe every class should have a DPS Spec and that spec should make them completely viable for endgame raids.

But sadly Blizzard doesn't see it that way, the way they have it set is this:

Warrior = TANK/DPS

Rogue = DPS/CC

Mage = DPS/CC

Priest = DPS/HEALER/CC

Warlock = DPS/CC

hunter = DPS/CC - I am not sure about the CC on this class

Paladin = TANK/HEALER - Despite having a DPS Spec, they are not counted as DPS capable, which i think Blizzard needs to change to atleast make them viable

Shaman = DPS/HEALER

Druid = TANK/HEALER - Tanking Spec is also a DPS spec, though players refuse to see it and expect feral druids to tank and offheal and battle rez

People need to just accept the fact that all classes are capable of dps, some maybe be not as good as others, but just because it isn't as good as a rogue or mage, doesn't mean that the ability isn't there at all.

The way my brother sees it is this:

Tank? = Prot Warrior

Heal? = Holy Priest

DPS = Mage/Rogue/Warlock

Rest, IF severely needed = Shaman, Druid and Paladin are expected to either heal or tank (except Shaman when it comes to tanking)

Trust me, i have a Feral Druid, fully geared out for DPS in kitty form and all i get is: 'reroll a rogue you noob and stfu and respec or fuck off'

I am really close to just ditching this game, cause all the players care about is the best and nothing less then the best and to me, if you can't play how you like, then why bother playing? Its a game, its meant to be fun and nothing else.

ok, not allowing dps warriors?
1)constant damage, never oom
2)VERY capable offtank, can pull mobs off the healer easily
3)plenty support with battle shout, demo,commanding (stacks with blood pact), thunder clap,etc. hamstring will stop runners from pulling more mobs and save the whole group from having to fight 5 more mobs when they're oom. they have just as much support as your totems do.

not allowing someone into your group because of their class or spec is a total dick move. every class and spec has something to bring to the table, and all classes are balanced in pvp, pve, and instances.

if you had a dps warrior that didnt give a ton of support it was a bad player, don't blame the class.

right now im 33/28 arm/fury and do both pvp and pve. all i have to say is in heroics im usually #1 dps/ kara #1 or #2/ and gruuls at least top 4 so dps warriors are not the end of the world they can be really useful. Thanks for reading

Basically, if you are spec'd Prot. and suck at it, then a dps warrior is all you'll ever be.

OMG guys ıv been readıng trough n ı gotta say  low level warrıors are damn hard to play wıth maybe thats just my own experıance but ı found ıt so0 dıffıcult..  ı was beıng slapped all over the place by other classes upto 5 level below me n the only class ı could beat was another warr lol.

ı started my warr (on a pvp realm) about 6 months ago got to level 16 n gave up found ıt soo dıffıcult to play wıth (ım used to playıng hunter the best soloıng class by far) took break for 2 months then 1 day just started playıng agaın... ıt was tough n very tıme consumıng.. n not to mentıon beıng smacked left rıght n centre by nearly all ally ın that area lol.

ı grınded ınstances spent hours on end ın dungons found ıt quıte easy to joın group because evry1 took u for a tank lol..
ı wasnt a tank but from prevıous exprıance ı knw that these low level dungons u dont need to be heavıly speced up to tank use a defensıve stance n a sheıld so u look lıke a tank n use taunt n all the rest of ıt. 

ı got to level 50 n found out how to use the talent tree lol for warr put 41 poınts ın arms the rest started ın fury.  n i tell u what i roll around lıke ım untouchable (wıth a lıttle help from my helıng potıon ıf needed).

but nw ım at that stage where ıf ım not prot ı cant really hold aggro..

ı enjoy dungons cant ı just go as a dps ım sure ı can do as much damage as a eeemmmm a durıd or any other class ıf not ill just stand there n look pretty lol

ı tell u what though all u ally ıf u see me comıng hıde or run or somınk....  after 50 to 55 levels of beıng slapped up ım comıng to eat u regardless of what level u r BTW ım levl 68 now. n u should see my gear..

really, you have to love a dps warr, shitloads of damage, they give you more AP...and they can slap on a shield and off-tank, whats not to love!!!???

Im a 65 warrior and I was having problems getting into instances since im a fury warrior. Well I respecd a little and put 15 points into protec so I could get some better threat, but I still find it hard, even with TC and taunt and revenge, to keep more than 2-3 people focused on me at once. They always run off towards my priest and I have to chase them and taunt them again to get them back to me.... what am I doing wrong here? And if the group has a main tank and I can DPS, we just run through people left and right. A lot of people dont see that Im a billy badass when I DPS and dont want me in their group because I tell them I dont wanna main tank.. But when I went to DPS and dual wield I seem to help group much more than I do whne Im forced to be main tank.

I would like to point out again, the fact that we also have >3< choices on our Talent Tree, ppl.  And there are Off-Tanks for good reason, like when a clothie squeals "Get them off me" lol or to do 'in ur face damage' helping the main tank. I am very pround of that. pls add other reasons here for us.
