I'm not sure about the whole Int thing but i agree in the way that skinning is a great profession and is very easy to lvl.. in Loch modan there are islands in the loch with lvl 14-16 gators or something that have about a 3 second respawn.. there always spawning so u can always kill and skin for about 100 lvls, anyways i got my skinning maxed at 375/375 at lvl 65 i think and since then have made over 1k gold on selling and making leathers.. Thank you Blizzard for the awesome profession!
Oh and the whole Int thing making u get more xp and lvling faster is not true, int increases ur mana which is only a caster thing, it doesnt effect ur xp only ur max mana and does not help a rouge or warrior in any way

That was a misstatement on my part. I didn't mean INT would help XP, I meant it would help you gain experience (skinning points) faster. I was also wrong about my skinning level. I went back and checked and my mage is a artisan skinner at about 255 level.

I don't believe INT has any impact on skill levelling. The number of skinnings required to gain a level is reliant on the level of the beast you're trying to skin.
If what you said were true, that would give mages a ridiculously high advantage over other classes
int has nothing to do with skinning. i am a warrior with about 10 int and leveled skinning sooooooo fast i couldnt beleive it. i dont think int matters at all.
I believe the guide says something about INT making it easier to gain prof skill points. As I said my mage has a skinning level of 255 and I'm only level 38.

All that means is that you've been skinning a lot
And to address you saying:

What else could you possibly mean, when you said:
INT greatly increases the rate at which you gain experience (in everything in the game)

I meant that it increases your skill levelling. For example my mage has levelled a few more times since I started this post. True enough my skinning has levelled off a lot, I never run into "yellow" or "orange" skinning opportunities anymore. I think I'm at about 265 or so.
To test my theory on INT I saved a 1hand sword that dropped from a monster. I learned swording from a weaponmaster and went to Tarren Mill, populated by low 20's level monsters. The reason for the low level monsters is I wanted to maximize swings..and anytime I got to 1/3 health or so I'd fireblast 'em, heal up, and do it again.
I armed myself with the sword and proceeded to attack bear, spiders, whatever I could find. At first I didn't hit much and when I did little damage was done. But practically every stroke my sword level went up by 1.
Within an hour my sword level was 185. At that point I moved up to the giant snapper turtles (level 30+) and found I could slash 'em to death with sword alone. Pretty good for a skinny firemage.
Contrast that to my 20th level troll fighter who has been using a sword for the past 15 levels. HIS sword level is about 100. I KNOW he's used his sword probably 25-30 times as often as the mage. What is the reason? Mage has INT of 150+, Troll has INT of 20. Simple. I've found the mage gains skill points insanely fast at weapons (did it with daggers and staves too). I bet it increases skill levelling in all aspects of the game. CHARACTER levelling, well thats just a matter of XP.
I'm sry but you couldn't be more wrong actually. Int has no effect on the speed of lvling a craft or wep skill. The reason you lvled your blade skill so quickly was because of the relative lvl of the mob in contrast with your wep skill (in that it took more attacks, therefore more oppurtunities to lvl). Also because of your relatively high lvl in relation to the mob you were killing, there was no danger of capping your skill. Whereas with a new character a wep skill is capped 5 per lvl meaning you have to lvl before progressing your blade skill. That is the reason your other character seems to lvl slowly. Shame you had to slbnd a drop for no reason ^^.
Obviously you understand the dynamics of the game better than I. Thanks for the info, it does surprise me how it works.
As for the soulbound sword, it does have a nice stamina/int boost, so I'm using it anyway.
Hey...I found some literature from Blizzard that explains why you leveled so quickly in skinning. It did not have to do with INT..It turns out that Skinning level points have no correlation with your character's level. In essence, a level 1 character, if protected by level 70 friend(s) skinned mobs continuously, he/she could end up with 375 skinning eventually. I hope that helps.
Actually INT does make a difference and it says it when u look at ur stats chart and roll ur mouse over int. But thats not the main point of iNT and it wont make too much difference.
BTW, 1g for heavy leather? i go 4 at least 4-5. Maybe its my server XD
for all you people saying otherwise, INTELLIGENCE DOES NOT WORK THAT WAY! It increases Mana and spell crit. THAT IS ALL IT DOES!

feel sorry for warriors and rogues. not really cos i doubt intelligience has a part of it. even if it was that way blizzard would incorporate something for rage and energy...
Quote from WOW official site:
"Intellect
Increases the rate at which you learn weapon skills
Increases your Mana points
Increases your chance to score a critical hit with spells"
INT increases the rate you learn WEAPON SKILLS, not any other skills (like skinning).
This is because the classes who dont melee verry much usually have high intellect so they need the boost to keep their weapon skill up to date.
