Explained my thoughts on combo more in "priest racials and shadow" on priest forum.

For PvE DPS classes tend to be very common while good tanks and healers tend to be more in demand.

In arena, as the game is now, priests do well in all three brackets while shaman and paladins seem less popular in 2v2s and 3v3s and druids in 5v5s.  Though this isnt to say they dont have a place in these brackets.

May also be worth considering what talents a level 80 char can have since next year that should be the level cap.  Although talent trees will most likely get a complete overhaul and there should be new talents there is no harm in planning out a 71 point build for the future if you are starting a character now.

With pain suppresion a priest can make a good pvp healer and with 71 points in shadow you can have blackout, silence, vamp embrace, mind flay, lower CD on psychic scream and good instant damage that you can fire and forget and carry on healing.

Pure theorycraft past the level 70 point ofc. so probably of no value, who knows?  It is however a good class/race combo atm for both pve and pvp.
