I have been a 70 warlock for some time now and found this spec as the best in pvp.

As a warlock you will use dotts no matter where you place your talent points.
My spec is based on what I need for support, survivability and damage.
I am currently using Fellweave since it will max out my potential in affliction and destruction.
The spec is 37/3/21 (http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/warlock/talents.html?4500222012230115502000030000000000000000000505000510220010000000)

Why this choice?

Affliction:
- Most important is the "curse of exhaustion" and "improved howl of terror".
These are mostly for survivability, but allso for your assistance in sticky situations.
- Affliction is run and dot so "grim reach" is a must.
- Talents spent in this spec max out your potential in shadow damage.

Destruction:
- Every talent spent here is important. I want to be able to cast some fast heavy damage.
- Every crit gives 100% extra crit damage. (remember that my gear is allso high in crit)
- "Shaddowburn" for instant damage.
- "Improved shadowbolt" for "Nightfall". You opponent will notice 20% extra damage on all dots for 12 sek.
- "Destructive reach" gives you the range you want and need.

I don't want to use spells that take longer than 1.5 sec. to cast
so I need to get the most out of "searing pain".

Demonology
- To eliminate "demonic embrace" is plain stupid as it in my spec gives 9% extra health (3/5).

The nice thing with this spec is that it contains essential and important skills in affliction and destruction and maxing out the range in both trees.

NB: This is a level 70 spec.
Hope this is usefull for some!

Very nice.  What I have yet to see are good PvP builds at the various level brackets.  I only bring this up because your build IS such a nice build.  Ever thought of putting together something for every bracket?

I was told that for PVP, SL/SL is the way to go. I saw a build that was 24/37/0, so I made a build with the same numbers. http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/warlock/talents.html?55220221120001100000020500301332501 20531100000000000000000000000
I was wondering if it would be better to get the 30% spell damage from the spellstone , or put the 2 points from "Master Conjurer" in " Demonic Knowledge" and gain the 8% more spell dmg. (12% @ 3 pts. vs 4% @ 1 pt.) This is getting frustrating, I like my DEST, but I thought I'd try AFF for the survivability (11 pts in DEST for SB), or maybe DEM for the FG (but then it's ALL about your pet). I read that for end game( Arena), DEST rocks, also, geared up, res and crits make it even better. Then I'm told "go sl/sl" for pvp. So wtf's better???  DEST or SL/SL
I guess it's only gold, so I'm gonna give this build a try, and I think I will null the Master Conjurer and take the 2 points in Demonic Knowledge. If I dont like it I can try AFF or go back to DEST I guess. It would be cool to read comments from anyone with any experience that may have tried both (or similar builds).

lol...after all that, I went with the Fel Guard 0/41/15 @65.I do plan on trying the SL/SL and AFF builds mentioned above, but I have a feeling I'm gonna end up back in DESTRUCTION. I figured the "big boy" might help me to level the rest of the way to 70. It's only 710000 exp. to complete this level(65), lol. And they're supposed to be good for farming, so I thought I'd try DEMONOLOGY now while I can. I apologize for any confusion, but hopefully this will help someone else down the road that may be thinking of re-specing their 'lock. Maybe this should all be moved to it's own thread. Anyway, it appears that there is different aspects of the game that have to be considered when deciding on talents. Such as world PVP, BG's, Arena Teams, end-game plans etc.

Garmag's build at the top makes more sense the more I look at it. It would be nice to get the whole 15% stamina in the DEM tree but I guess that would probably not allow you to max out the range in both trees. I guess experience speaks for itself.
After tryin the FG,(he aint that great), I see that you dont get any reduced spell haste on much ...no nightfall or backlash...no instant fear or corruption, etc. (Most of the points in DEM now.) DPS sucks now also.
So Garmag's hybrid build might be the way to go, even move a point or two around if possible. And when the level cap jumps to 80, ten more points to play with will be cool if Blizz don't nerf everything. Now I see why locks re-spec so much -OMG

I don't get it.

Affliction = DoT
Destruction = Nuke

These two don't have synergy. DoTs can't crit (Ruin) and nukes aren't affected by Fel Conc. Shadow Mastery and Nightfall are the only 2 things that help destruction spells.

And isn't Backlash better than Nightfall? But then you couldn't get iHoT or Darkpact.

So, Bananaz, u are sayin that DES rules? Some say full AFF way 2 go. Others say SL/SL for pvp. I just hit 68 and am about to re-spec, and am a bit confused. I may go SL/SL and hit the BG's to get some decent equips, seein as how so much seems to depend on it in this game. I enjoyed the full DES build and may return , but still wanna try the other builds too. Tks 4 any feedback. :)

In PvE:

Aff with crappy gear
Destro with better gear

in PvP

This isn't the most major of your concerns, because you'll be killed by just about anybody if you spec a DPS spec.

EDIT: I'm not saying Destro is bad, but it sucks for farming/soloing instances/PvP because of all the mana problems and whatnot (and spell pushback).

i find destro to be very effective for farming/dailies etc. in almost all cases.
i sacrifice a VW for the regen and most things you're farming die after 2 or 3 SBs. for stuff that takes a bit more killing (like farming primals on the ele plateau etc) i have to bandage every 4-6 kills.
i never have to drink or bandage when doing dailes on the isle.

the thing is that you really shouldn't be specced destro until you have good gear and when you do things die very quick

at 70 depending on your gear you may choose either sl/sl or full destro, now most people would think full destro means less survivability with less hp to take dots/no 20% dam reduction however if you use a pvp trink and have 1k+ in bonus spell damage 0/5/56 is the way to go there are many good pvp locks based with this build "drakedog" "nhilus" etc its all an art of stun and fear and placing nukes in the middle

Because Warriors don't have a skill that negates Fear, Seduction, Howl of Terror, a trinket, or a talent that reduces stun chance. Nor does anyone have one of the 50 different abilities to break fear. Nukes don't break it either. Nope.

Because someone stunned for 10% of the time won't kill you in the other 90%.

Because there isn't something called pushback.

Because Melee hasn't scaled through the roof either.

Because you don't need Soul Link to stay alive.

No, of course not.

EDIT: Also because there isn't a spell called Curse of Tongues that makes you do 60% less damage.

Other than that Destro is fine, of course. Duh obviously.

Very simple concept,only few steps
1st: put curse of shadow
2nd: fear and let your opponent to use the trinket, then seduce.(if your oppenet dont anything while fear just hit soul fire)
3rd: Seduce then soul fire CD is ready, or just shadow bolt
4th: shadow fury, seduce wait little bit then shadow bolt.if your opponent dont die yet just use tour shadow burn.
You need to have high crit% and make sure you save your death coil for any kind of situation.
Hope you can crit on soul fire, it will go for about 6k

fair advice in general for destro locks but curse of shadows isn't any use in pvp. it's just not a pvp talent. the reduction in shadow resistance isn't going to help because, who has shadow res for on their pvp gear?
also you're going to run into a lot of problems with diminishing returns here. after 3 seduces you're not gonna get 2 seconds before they charge your succy and you're defenceless.
the other problem is that people stack resilience in pvp so an build that relies on crit is going to struggle... and you're gonna burn through your shards using so much soulfire ^^

ok see here this is how i did my specs at the poitn as i write this im 53 semi hybrid ok i went 3/41/0 im pretty sure so this is why i did it this way:

1. for the felgaurd. it seems to me that he is strong as hell or is at least the strongest fer my lvl. also he is perfect for running alts and my friends alts or even running ppl fer gold. also im not too educated about the fire summon or the doomgaurd but from what i have heard is that fer the doomgaurd u can only have it out for like 5 min or something ansd it costrs a gold so i figured if thats the case it would be mnice to have the felgaurd for those times i dont wnana waste a gold for a 5 min pet that actually might not be good (ive heard that too)

2. i used to be in affliction and was semi fine however against horde i sucked and could not run ppl through instances as well as sucking in PVP.

3. in this build i am making massive gold fer my lvl i have 280g at lvl 53 and i have been told this is very good fer my lvl. it seems to be beacuse i can run lowbies waaay the hell easier.

if u noticed i have 3 pts in affliction. this is beacause i am starting to build that up cuz most of my equips are spell dmg adds. i do not plan to add any pts to destruction. reply if u have an suggestions or add ons.
