Does any rogue out there have a gun? It says we can use them with training, however, after buying a superb sniper rifle, and hopping to Ironforge for gun training, there is no option with the gun guy to train. Also when trying to buy bullets and ammo pouch fom auction house it says - "can't equip this". So what's the story - anyone know - as I shouldn't have been able to buy the gun if it couldn't be used.
Any help would be appreciated by this Lvl 42 Rogue.

I'm a lvl 31 human rogue, and I can equip guns and ammo. I haven't tried an ammo pouch, I just keep my ammo in my bags, but I am able to do some shooting. Rogues don't get Auto-shot, but I use the gun mainly for pulling.

You can buy whatever you want (even if you can't use it), you just can't equip it. As for the gun guy, are you sure he's the weapons trainer you need to be with?
If you're not sure, talk to a guard and ask for the location of a weapons master. Usually they (the weapons masters) will tell you where you need to go for training of a specific type of weapon.
But as to answer your first question. Yes I'm a rogue, and I'm a gun wielder.

Deadly throw is definitely useful so i just say go with thrown and have ur thrown lvl up by the time u get it and saves space in ur bag =D
deadly throw aren't available until very high lvl like 60 something so until then just get any gun, bow, crossbow or whatever that give good agility bonus. When you are able to get deadly throw, you can get a good thrown weapon called avenging's stars at Halaa in Nagrand.
Lvl 42 Night Elf Rogue, I use guns. I trained in SW with Woo Ping, right next to Auction House. I haven't used an ammo pouch because you don't need to hold that much ammo, and if you use one, all you can store in there is bullets. So, stay away from ammo pouch if you can help it, as it just wastes a bag slot, IMO. Hope this helps you.
lvl 45 rogue, I use a gun, mostly for the stat bonuses, only keep one slot for ammo in my bag - no need for a pouch, you'll only be using it as a draw on occasion and your shoot/throw has a slow refresh/ready rate, def dont waste a bag slot with an ammo pouch if you're gonna use a bow or gun.

names hatch in wow i got the gun skill trained in iron forge pre lvl 20 have not used yet, but i got trained there ask a trainer about where to train on gun and hell tell you where and who to go to!im a knight elf rogue.
I used a bow or a crossbow until about 65, got the training at IF about lvl 20 but never used it. Got a great gun as quest reward with nice stats and ran around noob towns getting my number up. I've reached the point where I'm gonna go to the Felsteel Daggers but don't have the ambition to drive the number past 300 yet. I get 800+ dmg quite offen on cloth wearers trying to freeze me and run away so I Like My Gun!
lol have you actually equipped the ammo ,lol,yeah rogues can and i do,just level it out-front of your main city it can go up hella fast like to lvl 150 on org side ,then just hit you realative lvl and go for gold ,easy enjoy!
Im lv 51 gnome rogue i got guns too. Just go to wep master in SW or IF to learn it.. But I think thrown is better, you got more space in your bag and I don't think thrown hits much less than guns.. If you are 60+ you can also use deadly throw and that is much better than guns. So I suggest to use thrown..
i would say use guns or bows for pulling stuff but once you reach 66 (when you get deadly throw) i would get a nice throwin weapon :)
VERY early on, I got my Gun. I looked up what the lvl req was and went WAY out of my way to get it then. I just think they're cool. I get a lot of sh!t from ppl for having 1. "Rogue's don't need a gun, all it's for is pulling." So what! I have a gun for pulling, BFD.
I rarely use it b/c of stealth sapping or Ambush, etc. Now that I'm lvl 387 and Engi-nerd-ing lvl 280, I have a really cool gun w/+5 Agi, and +3 damage w/Accurate Scope. Lvl 39, and I get +6 stam (I think) w/Accurate scope.
Considering upgrading to a thrown weapon w/better stats (not dps, but +'s to stat stats). I like my gun and am content, so I don't really care.
throwing isnt very good for me at lvl 30 so i use a bow and a gun..i dnt think ammo pouch works with my gun i dnt remember but the quiver works with my bow
Ultimately you want a thrown weapon because 1)the rate of fire is faster and 2)deadly throw is very handy when the chump you almost one-hit tries to run. But since it's very hard to find decent thrown until higher levels, a gun will do the trick at level 42.
Im 52 and i use a gun simply there are alot more choices for guns then thrown weapons on AH. I rarely use my gun but the stat bounuses are nice
After much time spent looking for a gun Trainer, I found out that you must go to Buliwyf Stonehand at Ironforge (61,89). He is in the Military ward in Southern Ironforge.
He was able to train me for Guns and One-Handed Maces.

Im a level 70 rogue and i say for level 10-60 u can use a gun. level 60-70 use throw cause of deadly throw which pwns. but be sure u have a high skill with thrown weapons.
i use a gun AND a ammo pouch, ammo pouch is good because it increase yur ranged atk speed
i hav this gun thats friggin slow but does 130dmg each shot, withut ammo pouch i can only shoot it once at a enemy but with ammo pouch i can squeeze in 2 shots
use a slowing poison on a gun its really good
