Thottbot > Forums > Classes > Shaman > General > shamen or druid?
it all depends what you want to do i love my druid for healing ( lvl 70 resto druid ) but shammys pull alot more dps have better talents for threat reduction while dpsing so in my opinion if u want healer or tank druid if u want some bad ass dps shammy ftw
Shaman > druids in raid healing
Well depends what you want Shamenz get totemz druid can summON trees its a talent :) tHey BoTh HaVe INsant cast sPelLZ that

Druid r way better u can raid more because u can heal,DPS (cat form) tank (bear), and can camp under water for water raids and scout travel form Lv 60
Diffenitly go with Druids easy to make money farm and LV up This post is faded because it has a negative score.
ok, these questions are getting WAY weird...
first of all understand that its UR opinion that matters!!! no matter how strong or weak a class, if U LIKE PLAYING I GODDAMNIT, then ISNT THAT ALL U CAN ASK FOR??? its a game, JEEZ!!! and to that guy who said droods are better than shams...!@#$%^$$#%^&!@#!@# its not that easy to compare 2 classes dude... what ur saying is that droods can do what they want and tank and dps and crap... u forget that we can do all that too? its the spec that matters... (grr...>.< speaking to the jack-of-all-trades classes about multi-tasking...) next time find urself a duel with a enhc or better, ele sham and watch ur bear, cat and ur tree's arse get charred by his lightning...
ok crazy umm...if u are a druid and u get the trees u r and automatic noob...you should be a druid to tank and fight everything, plus good heals, but on the other hand shams can fight with mail thats a plus more health and better DPS in dual wield but not as good in feral cat for for lvl 70 druids...i would choose both take both of them and you will find the one u like because both are great to play with....P.S driuds are a little harder to lvl :) This post is faded because it has a negative score.
shamen because that they r only class that can reserect tank heal AND hold there own
If your goal is to be awsome against other players (pvp) than the shaman isn't your best choice. If that isn't the only thing you care about, by all means try a shaman at least for a while. You don't have to earn all the totems (or any for that matter) to get a good feel for what the class has to offer.
Shamans and druids can both fill many roles. One could argue that the druid is more effective in many of these roles. However, Shamans have more flexibility. Because a druid can't cast spells in beast form, he must choose a role: melee or spellcaster-healer, and stick with it awhile. While possible, it's not practical to change forms in the middle of battle. Shamans are very good at putting out serious damage (melee or with offensive spells) and at the same time keeping themselves and the other members of a group alive with well-timed healing spells. If you stick with it you will learn to resurect yourself after you die(once in 40 minutes I think). Revive dead party members and you've made a few friends. Shamans are always welcome in groups because of all the roles they can fill. Of course, that applies to druids as well. In summary, give the shaman a chance. It'll be 10 lvls before you can start seeing what it will be like to be a druid. Thats when you get your bear form.
definatley shaman's cause they can ressurect THEMSELVES!
I've rolled both to 70 and it depends what you want to do. Feral is great because you can do raids as either tanking OR dps, and your decent at pvp (ish). Druid resto is frigen OP in pvp. Shammys are good cause they have lotsa buffs (melee'ers love WF), and can usually do very good dpsn which means great for anything pve. I wouldn't go enhancement for pvp though (especially arena). Resto is great for just about anything, and elemtental is good cause theres so much gear. so yeah...
shaman wins lol
Just so you know, Druids cant Tank/mele Dps, Caster DPS, and heal at the same time!
it all depends on spec... druids much choose which one to do: either tank/mele dps with Fearl Caster Dps with balance heal with restoration it is the same with a shaman mele dps-enchantment caster dps- elemental heal- restorarion this is the same with pallys. its how the hybrid classes work, they must choose a spec which makes them very different than others of the same class with different specs. an enchantment and elemental shammy will have VERY different gear. same with druids, a resto druid and a fearl druid will have WAYY different gear and weapons. i personly think the two classes are pretty similar. though i do think Shammy healers are bettter, they are much more mana efficient and dont have a CD on Rezzing. personly, i would say shammy. they do better damage (i think with the right spec). and they are better healers.
for shamns in pvp u should go 40 in ele and 21 in resto enhancement isnt really that good for pvp, until i re specced i was being owned
Shamans are better long term casters, so if you like casting DPS go with em. Burst casting is definately a Moonkin Druid's thing though. If you like melee, go with a Druid. Sure, Enhancement shamans can melee pretty good, but they can't seriously tank, and cat druids just seem to have higher dps, not to mention stealth. Also, Shamans are constantly nerf'd, whereas druids seem to be getting stronger lately. I'm a Shaman, but it gets boring quick. As a druid you have a lot of milestones to break it up, but with shamans you get some new totem abilites. Big freakin whoop if you ask me. I'm not really reccomending either, but Shaman= Great DPS Phailoramic tanking and decent healing, druids are good at any of these. This is just my opinion, but I'm getting really bored of being a Shaman. I wanna reroll...
Druid is usually forced to be in forms.. i have both classes at 70 and i found shaman lot more fun to lvl and play at 70 tho...
Ill always be top dmg meters on every av, not with feral druid :S So if i would be you, go shaman and we will get buffed soon /shamanlovehug =)
I haven't tried Shaman yet, but i have a level 69 feral druid and i am always in cat form, its alot of fun to play, i do ALOT of dps, i am only 2nd to Rogues, which is how it should be...rogues are the dps kings after all.
I have been thinking about trying Shaman lately, but knowing my luck, they will ask me to heal like they do with my feral druid. lol They never tend to think that Druids CAN do melee dps, but it seems if it isn't the best, then it just isn't possible...kinda dumb, but players think like it.
lol as a sham its pretty obvious what ur gonna want to do...
as in no one will ask an ele or enhc sham to heal unless of course ur gonna wipe or emergency situations whatever... shaman are kinda diverse and at the same time VERY specific in some ways... guess yea, pretty much like droods but they do it all in the same form so, ok, advantage... its going to be VERY interesting to see what happens as the lvl cap keeps going up and we get to pick specs in 2 trees... guess the fav is going to be ele/resto coz they pretty much use the same gear...but something like enhc and ele will SMASH only the gear moderation is a BIG task...
I play both. I love the healing and caster part of a druid. just started my shammy. I am thinking of playing enh. my main is a rog. so I don't want another rogue but cat form seems to work very well in killing red leveled creatures (on my druid). my shammy seems to be smash it all at the moment (lvl. 16). It is more a question of how I want to play not kicks ass more.
that is why the game is so fun you can have 3 seperate druids and they do dif. stuff. I seem to get the same feeling about shammy's. I'm thinking enh. with healing. I play on a pve server and will be twinking her. I twink them all for the mere fact that you learn how to play your char better at every lvl. so the question is which is better? depends on my mood. I love my druid, but that gets old. do what I did start 3 take one to 70 then play the others until you like them.
If you find yourself having no preference, go druid. There are many hybrid classes, but druids are the most... hwtas the word.. hybrid-like? Shaman can fill 3 roles, healer, caster dps, melee dps. Pallys can fill 3: melee dps, healer, tank. A druid is the only class that can literally fill ANY roll. They can tank (bear form), melee dps (cat form), heal (tree form), and spell dps (boomkin). Not only do they do them all, they do a pretty damn good job at any of them. There is one set-back however, they are the most one-roll-dedicated of all the classes. If you choose to be caster dps, for example, your melee dps and tanking rolls will suck, your healing will be decent. If you choose melee dps/tanking, your spells will suck, but you can heal somewhat. If you choose healer, your melee will suck, while your spells will be ok. In any case, if you level a druid to 70, theres no need to grind another class up to 70, just get geared up for another druid spec. Btw, resto druids are the most sought after and ownage-associated PvP healers =D
i think enhance shaman> feral druid by far and balance druids and ele shamans are about equal. I find shaman is way better at pvp but isnt as good at healing when not speced/geared for it.
enhance shammy >>>>>>>feral druid
moonkin > or equal to ele shaman
shamen do not tank ever
shamen do not tank ever so what? what does this have to do with?
