From time to time one of us Alchemists discover a potion of some sort. Would be nice to know what you other guys can create as they should be kinda rare and hard to get.

I'll start.

I have made several discoveries'
Flask of relentless assault
flask of blinding light
super rejuvenation potion
transmute ....to primalshadow
transmute primal life to primal earth
and some other useless transmutes
I just keep pumping out a transmute of primal might everyday and make lots of potions and elixirs, just the ones that sell well.

I have "discovered" a few too.  I discovered relentless assault on the potion I made to hit 375.  However, today while xmuting an earthstorm diamond, I "discovered" how to xmute primal shadow to primal water.  Not sure if it's random or a certain number of xmutes/creations.  Thus far these are the only two I have "Discovered", however both have come after my xmute specialty.

Today is the first I ever heard of "discovery" in relation to alchemy (or any of the professions for that matter). What is it, how does it happen, and how do you know when it happens? do you get a post that says "You have just discovered how to make elixor of cowards." or some such nonsense, or does it just show up in your recipe list? I have recipes that I don't remember learning but I figured it's just because I bought it off the auction house at a higher level and never made it. Does this happen with any other proffession? Please enlighten me.

i think alchemy is the only one who discovers, but ive been wondering the same thing...i dont even member if i learned some recipeds lol

After making a potion or xmute, you see a flash, much like when you level or rep up and in the chat box it says....Discovery, You have just discovered how to make flask of coolness.  After which it appears in your recipe book.  Of the three I've now learned one was lettered grey at the time, one is yellow and one red.  I'm am a 375 alchemist, so I assume the red one is the most rare of the three.

Quick FAQ

• Discovery is Alchemy only.
  
• It Is not dependent on your location, your alchemy skill, or your level.
  
• It only procs off of Outland recipes.
  
• Discoveries of xmutes mostly proc when you are xmuting.
  
• Flask discoveries can happen when you are making either flasks or potions and is not dependent on your mastery.
  
• Cauldron recipes will always proc after several Major (fill in the blank) Protection Potions. The proc rate is very high for these. The only Major Protection potion that currently doesn't have a cauldron is Holy.

Xmute mana to fire.

my 'discovery' was super regen potion. 52nd lvl 352 alchemist

i met that every recipe has a limited number of discovering new recipe...
i made first few primal nether and opened a few new. and then do it 10 times and nothing hepened
or its just luck wis 1st?
