90% of my characters are alliance my main is a NE druid and i have to say go tauren.... if u go ferel tauren have more strength and ALOT MORE HP so there bedder at that and they may have worse caster stats but they have war stomp which is useable in moonkin and tree form and war stopm is definetly a life saver.....shadowmeld on the other hand has very little uses especially cuz we have kitty form prowl
NE: More Dodge Shadowmeld
Tauren: More HP War Stomp And lol at the post above me about how Nes look retarded, plz take a look at yourself. I mean i like taurens and all cuz they look good as a tank race. Feral: So yeah wrapping this up. NE:lawlmoarcatform plz and omg war overpower your face off Cow:lolololololtankplz? Really, this is your choice, since both dodge and hp are vital to tanking, but maybe more to a war... Balance: Both Spamfire... Cows win more hp. Resto: loltravelformHoT, Cow Wins, more hp. Also, not all alliance are 5 year olds. There are a lot of good alliance out there. Even tho i still get pissed when alliance decided to be a moron in BGs
Tauren. Nothing like a bear with horns to scare the shit out of somebody.
I've only been playing WoW for almost a month now, and my first character (currently my main) is a Night Elf Druid - and being that only two races can be druids, it's all up to you on your choice whether to go Alliance or Horde. Honestly, they're both quite balanced. Maybe Tauren is more of a "beef" type race, being big and stuff, while Elves tend to be more on the "lighter" side of things - but every race is good, it all depends on the player behind the character and how you play them and raise them.
So far, I'm not having any problems with my NE Druid - mostly Feral with a little Balance spec'd in there, but still. It all depends on the player. And these aren't just my words, but the words of other veteran players that are more experienced than me. If you want to be an Elf, go NE, if you want to be a minotaur character, go Tauren. You're sure to have fun either way. Druids are friggin' awesome classes no matter the race.
go tauren because their base stats help a little bit for feral droods and they got that racial war stomp which helps in mid battle when u want a quick heal or sumtin This post is faded because it has a negative score.
Tauren or Night elf, it depends on your talents, and how you go in the different talent trees.
Feral cat/melee dps: Night elf (dodge) Bear/armor tank: Tauren (HP and armor) Balance Night elf (you can use shadowmeld in moonknin form and you have more intellegence) Restoration I would choose Night elf because of shadowmeld-usable in tree form and Night elves have more intellegence but Taurens DO have more HP and Armor to last longer. +a bonus, The Night elf druid's and rogue's shadowmeld is harder to see than other Night elves'. PEOPLE UDERESTIMATE SHADOWMELD, (huge bonus w/hunters lol)
If I were to start all over again, I would do everything the same. I chose NE for the passive plus to dodge. This passive trait IMO is more versatile than warstomp, I haven't really seen tauren use there racial ability all that often outside PVP. Plus, dodge is passive, no activation of ability required. One less toolbar slot filled, more room for something more worth while.
I roll feral, and in dire bear form, I am able to tank with no problems. I hear the argument "More HP, More Stamina", plus to dodge can be just as useful when taking on 3-4 trash mobs in an instance. If they swing and miss, no HP is lost, less healing is needed. This makes a NE druid very survivable. There have been a few times, even in pvp, where I could just stand up to 3-4 horde(not kill them, but survive the dmg). Also, when you see "/bg who wants to tank Galv?" (in AV), I can "/raise my hand". All in all, pick where your friends are. This game is, afterall, an MMO. It thrives on your interaction with other players. If you have RL friends on the Horde side, learn to use warstomp. When you group up with friends, choosing which abilities fit your style won't seem to matter much.
Well, it all depends on what spec you plan on taking. Ballance deff go with Night Elf. And if your choosing feral, you have to make another choice. If you plan on tanking and rolling more bear form than cat form, go with the tauren, but if you plan on using cat form more, go with the Night Elf. Dodge rating is better, and more agility. Over all, i would say that the Night Elf is best, but go tauren if your planning on tanking full time.
Look, if u have friends on alli or horde play with them or u will b bored as hell. Other than that, it depends what your interests r. If u want to go with racial abilities, pick tauren cuz NE shadowmeld becomes useless after u get prowl and i still use war stomp sometimes (i'm lvl 30).
If u go by spec then if u go balance (which a lot of people say sucks) or even resto, i would go NE for mana. But if u go feral no doubt u want tauren for hp (this race is good at tanking XD). I am a 30 tauren and i spec resto and i say, with the right armor it doesn't matter what race u choose. FOR THE HORDE!!! This post is faded because it has a negative score.
the only problem with base stats is its only 5% and after about lvl 10-15 when u get stats from armor, that starts to b less important cuz u only get 1-2 pts per lvl up and by the time u reach 70 armor gives 25+ to a stat and natural stats on lvling dont matter
Shadowmeld makes you harder to detect in cat form, and thats better then a shitty war stomp This post is faded because it has a negative score.
I agree with past posts, Dodge is more effective than warstomp especially when your considering tanking. 5% stam may give you that much more hp but Dodge which can also be upgraded IMO reduces more dmg than what would be rcvd by +stam. Especially if your dodge something that coulda potentially been a crit. This post is faded because it has a negative score.
Dude, Tauren all the way, warstomp is like part of my grinding routine and is a lifesaver, if you have melee mobs on u and your getting low on health just warstomp and cast both your hots and go right back at it and if there are melee and casters add a barkskin so you wont get interupted. Woo nelfs got dodge...and they can run back to their corpse faster..warstomp + more life + super duper flower picking abilities = the win
U guys.... Night elf got alor more Agility, i think thats pretty imortant for a feral driud aswell !
I dont imagine that either is better, the way that Blizzard makes this game is to be as fair as possible, as stated above.. the war stomp would be nice while tanking and the 5% health would also be nice, but at lvl 70 with the right gear, Nelf's can tank and have more of a chance to dodge and with the right gear we become un-crittable so the HP bonus really doesnt matter. I'd say being able to dodge and not take any damage is better than having a whopping 5% increase... that translates to if you have 20,000 HP... you get an extra 1000 because of your racial bonus... when ur tanking a 70+ boss... 1000 extra HP is well... one extra hit you can stay alive, BFD.
Damn double post sorry.
Warstomp? Are you talking about PvP or wannabe PvP, any one who Warstomps, gets raped in second two by a real PvPer, have you heard of activating PvP trinket in second two ?lol..
The damn +5% HP is a very good thing, but i preffer to skip that shit and get my drinking while you look for me ;) The choice is not about getting one or the other, the choice is Alliance or Horde, simple, chose one and stcik to it, depends on your friends and your ability where you find your home.. That's all that matters.. Enjoy w/e your choice will be, have fun :)
sorry for single post with no information.
If you wanna pretty much play in cat form i would say go Nelf just because they get a little more dodge, that little extra stealth thing and theyre cat form is sleek ninja like but if u wanna tank def go tauren cause the 5% health def matters in the long run along with warstomp just rocking.Personally, I play cat spec as a tauren but thats just because when i tried to roll an ally every PuG i was ever in was comprised of half retarded 12 year olds. So in the long run it mostly matters the faction, but for PvP i would say going tauren with a resto/feral spec would be best, pwns in arena cause u keep your group HoT'd while u stay in bear form and yeh tauren = 5% extra health ftw also having an extra stun (warstomp) can be really useful in pvp
Base Stats mean ZERO at 70.
Overall racials of tauren are much better, so if you go on pure racials, go tauren. However NE's racials aren't without use, shadowmeld truly is somewhat useful, because it can be used in all forms. But hey if you don't go on pure racials, then its all up to you, horde or alliance, generally horde will be a bit more fun, because, it is proven that ally has a lot more children, bleck. Not that the horde isn't without their fair share of the noobs. Just have fun, be versatile, and heal early and you will have fun as a druid.
Its easy to see shadowmeld just know (U GOT TO LOOK shadow melds a shity like lvl 1 stealth and many many times in arena i just see um and go attack and they r like running round and round trying to get help ok it helps a bit with cat but a skilled player has many thing that can break it so ........... u think about it
The answer to the original question is very simple...
Do you want to play Horder or Alliance? Answering that question solves all the other problems...LOL...
Both races are good taurens got their Increased maxium health and warstomp and NEs got Shadowmeld and 1% more dodge chance
I should say Tauren slow leveling but when you get kitty form it's goes like butter NEs a little bit faster leveling but Kitty with Horns PWN ^^
Since you are asking specifically about PVP, I say definately, no doubt, go Tauren. Level up feral (if you want to level fast), then consider a resto spec for PvP and arena (you will be very very hard to kill). As has been said above, Tauren have better racials for PvP. Horde wins more often than Alliance in most battlegrounds. Quite simply, it sucks to lose often.
If you already know that you like PvP, then go Tauren, you will win more and enjoy PvP more, and collect PvP rewards faster.
Just go with the one you like the best. Be it the skills, attributes or just their looks. If in doubt just create a Tauren and a Night Elf. Level them up to lvl 10 so you can see which set of forms you like best.
If you are looking to spec in Feral Combat and spend a lot of time in bear form, then its best to be a Tauren because of thier higher health and strength. If you want to spec in Restoration, Balance or Feral Combat and spend a lot of time in Cat Form, go with Night Elves because of their higher Agilty and higher Intellect. But really go with what you think looks good and feels right do any combination and just try to remember that having fun is the most important thing to the game.
I think the alliance faction in general levels quicker than horde. I have characters on each side and seem to level my alliance toons quicker oddly enough.

Both of these races are better than the other in their own rights. A Night Elf has increased dodge, and Shadowmeld (which are both crucial in cat form)((Shadowmeld makes you harder to spot while prowling, so its like a subtlety spec)), but tauren have more stam and an extra stun i.e. Warstomp. But none of this really matters cause it all falls down to how you like your character to look, and which your most comfortable with.
p.s. My new drood is a nelf b/c I dont want horns on my cat...
Shadowmeld makes it harder to see you while prowling...read your abilities.
Yes Dodge is good ... But you do not dodged for some magic right? 5% over health aid already ...
Druid class is the most benefited class in the proportion of Agility x Dodge ... 15 agility = 1% to dodge. Shadowmelt?? Why?? We have Prowl!! I prefer Tauren, I like feral! War Stomp Rlz!!!
"Warstomp may be good while tanking"???? yeh if u want to fucking DIE, you can only use it in humanoid forms without shifting out of form. Unless you are trying that moonkin tanking spec (which i would advise against) warstomp will just get you freakin killed ina tanking scenario....bear already has a stun anyway....stop being dumb
NE druids in cat form look so much cooler than tauren, so I say NE
extra strength? last I saw on my Tauren all I had was extra health. War Stomp gets nerfed by the PVP trinket, and for a tank, the extra avoidance from the dodge is far more impressive against level 70-?? bosses than the extra 1000 or so hp - one good shot and that's meaningless. Dodge helps you avoid that shot - I play both, so I really have no bias. Just facts.
I'd really just go for what faction you prefer. Personally, I like Alliance - though everyone says it's got alot of idiots in, which it does, the Horde is actually no better. Based on racials alone, Tauren have a useful extra Stamina, though this is only handy if you're a tank or PvPer. As a PvE Moonkin, I don't get attacked alot and don't minding having a little less HP.
Go for whichever forms satisfy you the most. Personally, I don't like the Tauren forms as much as the Night Elf forms. The Tauren cat form is kind of ugly, and a bird with horns just doesn't look right. To me, the Night Elf cat form is sleaker and prettier, and the ears on the bird form look very much like feathers, so they aren't noticable. But, once again, based on racials, Tauren wins. An AoE stun can be very useful, even if it does have an irretating casting time. Once again, however, if you're PvE, you don't actually have much demand for it.
Ok, those who are saying warstomp is nerfed because they just use thier trinket. Well, guess what you just made them waste on a default racial, if they are actually stupid enough to use a trinket on WS? Thier free escape. That means you are free to entangle, bash, or cyclone away.
NE can get maybe one attack off while shadowmelded, and unless its a large crit, its a small advantage(but any advantage is good in PvP). But it is still very useful when prowling or recovering. So, I believe Tauren have more of an offensive panic button while NE have a small security blanket while on defense or sniping. And if you haven't realized, these are based on 1v1 PvP, not in group, where warstomp would be an extreme advantage since its aoe. IE, rush or prowl into a group of enemies in AV and shut down thier offense for a good 2 seconds.(thats all melee needs to close in with the squishies) But then again, a platoon of NE moonkins can rush into a chokepoint, shadowmeld, then nuke the hell out of a group running by.
