the most gold im getting from blacksmithing is by making the rods for enchanters. its actually funding my blacksmithing without me having to grind out ore too much
Mithril breastplate is low cost to make, sells for a couple gold, and rarely fails to auction first time out.
The adamantite set sells good too, although it is resource intensive. Can't go wrong with phantom blade either.
I agree with randomfates above, I made a serious amount of money selling silver and gold rods. For a while there was no-one selling them on my server, used to sell them for 5g and 7g respectively. I made a killing, I had about 1200g by the time I hit 40..
The biggest amount single thing I sold was Stonghold Gaunlets for 600g.
I have to agree with you about the enchanter's rods, since it takes a fraction of time to make - you only need the ore and a type of grindng stone - quick, easy and sells fast in the AH - just don't flood the market with them.
The most I have made with something I have sold is a Truesilver Champion...with an Iron counterweight attached it went for 125g of course it requires alot of mats....so not very good bang for the buck I hate to say. I also sell Trusilver Brestplate for 50g pretty consistently, again mats intensive.
made a icegaurd brestplate the other day ( plans from kara ) and i was quite supprised to get 1200g from it ^^ so i think i will be making a few more of these epic flying mount here we come
I have had sucess making imperial Plate helms and putting a buyout of 25g
I've had good luck selling the shining silver breastplate. Yeah it's low level but I can usually buy all the mats I need and make about 5-8 gold per. It usually sells for about 17g.
When my BS was low, around 150 i had the market cornered selling enchanting rods, i would sell 20+ a day of all types, would bring in 60g a day in revenue, depending on how much i mined myself i was making a decent profit, helped me get through the mithril stage and started the thorium stage of blacksmithing. I eventually got undercut but a bunch of other blacksmiths who must have figured out that i was only person selling the rods, now theres 10 others.
The lesson to learn is that if you start making to much profit, others will copy you and undercut your price, try to step ahead of the game. After enchanting rods, i made imperial set, mainly the bracers, selling them at a loss, but it was mainly recouping lost money from lvling my BS. Look for items other people dont sell, i found imperial set had lots of bracers and belts, but very few helms or boots, i made those and sold them for a profit, pricing them for 25g buyout.
best gold selling that that ive made with my BS at 294 will be 300 when i log in is crap, im just too friendly i guess. Been trying to sell arcanite rods for chanters said there worth 60g but people needing those are also at the same time saving up gold for their epic ponys. so thats a bummer. I give them to my guildies and in the guild bank. truthfully my bank and bags stay full i sell sharpening and dense stones for all lvl players cause twinks need sharp knives too you know...for the horde /cry
Phantom Blades sell nice, 90-100G. Just need to farm Breaths of Wind in Silithis. Thorium Shield spikes sell well also.
Dark Iron Helms, 600g each back before BC. Good MC plate for tank or dps
