I love PvP but hated it in WoW when I first started playing.
Some battlegrounds and duels were fun but a majority of them were completely one-sided since the differences in gear completely outweighed character skill and PvP strategy. Battlegrounds in the 10-19 and 20-29 brackets were the worse with some twinks able to take on the whole entire opposing team.
Getting owned over and over again with complete ease from enemy twinks made me not want to play battlegrounds at all in WoW. What could be more unfair?
Thus began my utter distaste for twinks.
But I learned...Made a twink...And now I understand.
Twinks are great!
Not because I can pick on lower geared players or give myself some self-righteous BS attitude that I know anything about PvP because I have a twink.
The great thing about twinks is that you truly have an even playing field for PvP combat. I thrive on twink versus twink battles. Everyone's gear is fixed at the same level so there are no complaints about one person out-gearing another. If you lose in twink PvP combat that means the other person actually outplayed you (given certain obvious qualifiers about the particular class advantages there may be). Congratulate them and learn to play ur toon better or develop better PvP strategies -- no need to spend dozens of hours trying to improve ur gear.
This also means that the casual player can play equally with the 80 hour a week WoW addict. It takes a short time to make a twink for anyone and then you are done with that toon. No matter how much time or money that WoW addict tries to devote to their twink, the casual player can make an equally geared one.
This unfortunately leaves the non-twinked players out in the cold as to venues for PvP. But I say to these players, even without twinks, or the goal of twinking, there will always be huge gear differences between you and other players.
The only way you can ensure a fair and fun PvP experience at lower levels is to use equally geared toons. So get yourself a twink and go have some fun!
