Is Leathorworking a good money maker? :) =D
Thottbot > Forums > Professions > Leatherworking > leathorworking...
it depends if you grind the materials you can make good money but it doesnt really pay off until you hit the outlands when you can sell high level armor kits that people will buy 4 their twinks also
Is there any trade skill that gets you "rich" alphvader? You can make good money like i said earlier. When you make 15 of the same item have it DE'd.Enchanting items require no deposit in the AH,which means if it doesnt sell you dont loose a penny.Look up the high-end armor kits and see how much they sell for if you gather the mats you can indeed get "wealthy" they are some of the most sought after pieces by high level players and their twinks.Remember this tip you get out of it what you put into it.
On my server i sell 3x Reinforced Mining Bags for 40-45g each every other day. If i buy mats off AH, only 50g profit. Not much but constant income.
I am going to say this one last time.LW can be a big moneymaker if 1.)You farm your own mats 2.)You get your rep. revered+exalted with the factions that sell you the High-end armor kits. Now number 2 requires alot of work,it requires that you run heroic instances x amount of times depending on how you did your questing and turn-in rep.Rule of thumb here is do you turn-in repeat quest for rep til it doesnt give out rep. then do the quests and you will be happy you did trust me on this.Example Unidentified plant parts in zangarmarsh for repeatable rep.,go directly to Coilfang lake when u get to zangarmarsh with an underwater breathing potion. There are pirahnas called mudfin frenzies they are in packs of 4 and are so easy to beat for any class they drop so many Un. planty parts its not funny an averege of 80-90 in one hour. Then go turn them in repeat until they dont accept them anymore. You think man that can take along time not cowpared to running Heroics that take 3 hours each and waiting til you are level 70 to get your coveted pattern,by the way if you quest first and skip the plant parts you will probably have to run the heroic instance about ten more tikes than original hope this helps.
Double Post.
You guys who know nothing about this profession vote down some great advice when I'm just trying to help!Every server realm is different one thing is always in high demand armor kits that sell for 260g + anyways figure it yourselves jerks and when you dont do the unidentified plant parts the way I suggested you will realize your mistake later on!In the mean time you can vote down good info so people who really need it wont be able to see it.Whatever figure it out on your own.
figure it yourselves jerks My point is that there is no need to get defensive. There is no evidence that people with no leatherworking experience have been downvoting you. The more rude responses you give, the lower your score will get voted. It would have sufficed you to simply leave your posts there without calling people jerks. If you realized that you made a double post and wanted to correct it, you could edit one of them and delete the post, replacing it with something like "Deleted double post." The internet is full of people acting like 12 year olds (especially where WOW is concerned) so try to rise above that and chill out.
Hey Jacknthabox i would like to know a bit more about the quests you were talking about. I am still new to this game and want to know what i need to do i am lvl 40 right now.
Topdeck glad to hear you want to go the easy route if I knew this stuff I would have saved myself alot of trouble. The rule of thumb is when you hit outlands you want to do the repeatable turn-in quests before you do the actual leveling quests to get your rep. up with that faction. In Zangarmarsh its Unidentified plant parts.Nagrand it is Obsidian Warbeads after crystals or Ivory Tusks from Wild Eleek(big elephants).Lower city is Arrakkoa Feathers. The reason you do repeatable turn-in quests is because that will get you to honored!Only then you do your leveling quests which n turn will give you the necessary rep to get to revered. For us LWers it is extremely important to do this, because at each new rep level we get patterns for most as stated above. If you do the quests first you can still only do the repeatable turn-in til honored which means alot of Heroic instance runs to get your rep up.Hope this helps you Topdeck.
Can anyone tell me which LW recipes would be best for me and which factions. I already have the Nethercobra Leg Armor recipe, but idk if its really worth it. I just put it in the AH for 450G, hoping it will sell. So idk which is best for money making... any tips? This post is faded because it has a negative score.
You want the clefthoof pattern also which requires Exalted with the Cenarion Exp.(the pattern that requires the primal nether)The nethercobra you refer to is Thrallmar pattern. One of the best sellers for me is the reinforced mining bag.You buy the pattern from the Mag'Har in Nagrand the town is called Garadar.(Horde).Not sure for Alliance.Think you get it at Honored. These are the patterns that I recommend all LW have for $$$ making purposes.
Wanted to thank you for your post in regards to doing the turn ins BEFORE the quests. I had quit before BC and have a level 60 Hunter with 300 LW but havent taken him back out and started a Feral Druid instead with LW also. Currently he is only 49 but just finished up getting 100 of each mark from AB and WSG so going to start leveling again and this was nice to know before I hit BC.
If you wouldnt mind, could you give a short discription of the items and who they go to (name of NPC) and best place for the drops. I know you gave a great example of the plant parts, would love to know more specifically about the rest. I also agree this IS the way to make money. Selling those armor kits is great, not to mention just farming the stuff WHILE hunting and then sending to my brother to DE. its a Win win. Also, most of the gear is WAY better than about 90% of the stuff from the old lands. Thanks a million!
Your very welcome Gram.,glad to see my post has helped a few(bigtim doesnt like my posts)lol. It would take awhile for me to search for exact names and turn-in points, however just go to factions left side of this page.then click on the faction and it will tell you specifics, however when you hit each town as listed above the person who gives you quest is the turn-in person. And repeatable quests put a blue question mark over the NPC's head.Still working on Cen. Exp. rep wish I would have known about the Unid. plant parts.Good luck man and have fun!
ok jacknthabox,
im a lvl 53, my LW is really low cause i unlearned my proffesions i was wondering what lvl of LW do u start to make alot of gold??? ive been farming light leather like crazy to get my skill up but i need to know if LW is worth it?? its ata skill of 89 right now but should i continue?? P.S: jack its great that ur giving advice i love ppl that help others and get themn to learn the game more so GOOD JOB BUDDY ;)
Farralon, yes LW is worth it.The first reason is for the BOP set you can make at 375LW,not sure of your class but Im a rogue went elemental. The BOP set is worth it even if you couldnt make $$$ off of LW.However you can make $$$ but with 2.4 out today its gonna be a lil bit harder, because primal nethers are BOE now so you can buy on AH,what this means is people will spam in trade chat want Clefthoof armor kit have mats will tip 3g.However my biggest sellers at the moment are the Reinforced Mining Bag and Bag of Many Hides. You will not make money in leatherworking with the high level armor you can make, the reason is it is too easy to get better stuff. But I make great money off of making Barbaric bracers,Shadowskin Gloves and the Deviate Scale Belt as well.Buy the mats when they are cheap and you will make a big profit, farming them at level 70 isnt going to happen because you will have a million other things you need to accomplish more,so buy low. Also 2.4 has added some phenomenal patterns when you get into the end-game content and the stuff you can make is ridiculous. It is worth leveling, good luck and have fun Farr!!
To fulucaffeine, dude this is a thread on LEATHERWORKING MONEY MAKER.Not skinning, first of all not all leatherworkers have skinning so what you suggest selling skins(which you should suggest this on the Skinning forums)is completely irrelevant.I know many Leatherworkers with Engineering not Skinning, they take LW for the BOP set and the Eng. for the helm you can get.So go grab another cup of coffee and join the SKINNING Forums
Jack....Got more info from your posts than anywhere else. TY for taking the time to help others :)
hey i just started and all i get is light leather or scraps why don't i get medium leather?
You get the higher end leathers by skinning higher lvl monsters.
I'm not quite sure at what level medium leather starts dropping. But I know from the Horde side I started Skinning Medium leather off the creatures in The Barrens. So I.E. The higher the lvl creature, the thicker the leather. I hope this helps!
Thanks so much, jacknthabox. You've helped me as well. I'm lvl 65, LW lever 340. I've been pretty much neglecting the rep farming. From what you say, it sounds like this would have gotten me in trouble down the line.
hey jack,
i see ur giving out some good advice, well i am struggling to get my LW up i am a 56 shammy with dragonscale i ave a skill of 280-ish n i was wondering how n were to level it many thanks in advance xx xD
is blades edge a good moneymaking server for horde?
i dont think so since its like 65-45 alliance but its relatively high pop. in general i think
