A death knight is a new class coming out with the Wrath of the Lich King expansion, not sure on the specifics. Lots of rumors flying around, as to the WOTLK isn't out yet! ^.^

It's new content they originally created in Warcraft 3. In that game I believe it was a hero unit that's mounted on an armored undead-looking horse while wielding a lance (or was it a sword?).

yes you are correct on both of them the weapon of a death knight is a runed weapon that uses a blade i.e axes polearms{lances} swords they will most likely not use 1H weapons they may not use maces they may just stick to the high rank weapons

If it follows the Warcraft three plot line, and from the previews of the expansion it seems to, than the death night is a class similar to what King Arthas became. In the RTS he was a paladin who got corrupted by a sword which was a device of the Lich king. The sword consumed him and made him a death night. So spells he might have would be like raise dead, which i think i saw in a preview, unholy aura which would increase speed and regeneration and maybe something like death coil, which originally was a death knight spell. Also death and decay, a AOE spell that death knights used in Warcraft II.( Used by the lich king in Warcraft III) But i really don't know. That's what happened in the RTS. will you have 2 create a new character 2 b-come a death knight or do u have 2 use a pre-created high lvl character?

I read what u had to take one of your high lvl chars and then u can learn him the skills to be a Death Knight. i think it was 55+ i read.

You have to do a few pre questes to make him. Like the warlocks epic mount.

You get to a high level, 70+ I think, on a Normal character. You do a crackheadedly long quest. You finish it and gain the ability to make a new character as a Death Knight. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO CONVERT YOUR CHARACTER'S CLASS. People who think this need to L2read before they speak. You can just go and make it any race you want, as far as anyone knows. I'm assuming you'll need to keep it on your faction (Alliance or Horde), but maybe the power of the Death Knight is too great to be bothered with the petty trifles of the lesser beings...

(aka Warlock That Can Wear Plate And Pwns Ass)

Just play warcraft3 and its expansion and itsnot a pole arm arthas uses its a cursed sword that changed him from human to undead its called frostnourne....and asfor people like darkhan are in the books.

from what ive gathered a death knight is NOT the exact opposite of a pally.ppl just think that cuz the first death knight was origially a pally.to create one you have to get a character up to lvl 80 i believe and do a painfully long quest.then you can make a deathknight.they begin at lvl 50 with rare gear and a mount.instead of mana,rage,energy they take power from runes inscribed on their weapons to use their spells.i might be forgetting something but i think thats everything.if i find out more ill post it

lets do some thinking shall we?  Deathknights will wear plate.  But BLIZZ hasnt released any ideas of melee combat skills for them so im guessing they will rely on there summons in unholy spec,  Dps (like ret pallys) in blood spec,  And armour in frost.  So think of them as a lock/pally

I can tell u that they will be destroyed in pvp by pallidens (the undead busting skills would make there weakened summons nothing) and preists.  If you want a real OPed class in pvp look at feral druids in cat form.  Then only reason no one complains about them is there only available to 2 races.
