Did you know that every area has a minimum fishing skill requirement? Even if you add +fishing items to bring your skill up to the level required you still can not fish an area if your base skill level does not meet minimum requirement.

Here is what happened: I wanted to fish in Zangarmarsh which the forums said you can do at skill 305. I had a base skill of 225. Had a Nat Pagel fishing pole (+25) and added an aquadynamic fishing lure (+100). I thought I would be able to fish Zangarmarsh since my skill now is 350 with the bonuses. I was wrong. Being confused thinking that there was something wrong I put in a ticket. The GM was kind enough to inform me of the following...

"What is happening is that in Zangarmarsh you must have at least a 300 in fishing. The bonuses you add to your skill do not apply to the 300 point requirement, they only improve your chances to catch something at your 225 level."

So I tucked my tail between my legs (I am a tuaren) and thanked him humbly all the while thinking 'how stupid of me.'

So just thought I would save a couple of lures for some other folks may be as misinformed as I was.

Not true, I fished in Zangar at lvl 270 fishing. I had +120 to fishing and about half of my casts hit.

Maybe there is a minimum fishing lvl, but it's not 300 for Zangarmarsh.
