I am lvel 374 in JC...lvel 375 in Mining...and am thinking of doing just JC and Enchanting...I can get all stuff for JC from AH....thing is though...does it cost a load of money to enchant stuff as you get to lvel 300...like do you have to buy stuff to do enchanting..as JC stuff seems cheap to buy but some of the stuff for Enchanting costs loads of gold...is it worth doing

To ansnwer your question, yes the mats do cost and rediculous amount of money to level up.

One thing though is that all the Ring Enchants will make them souldbound so basiaclly if you want to have killer enchants on a ring you have to do it yourself.

it does cost alot of money to learn new enchants and alot of people are lookinf for enchants that u don't learn from ur trainer they are drops or u can get them in the ah but people charge a crazy amount of money. I am a lvl 195 enchanter and I am almost lvl 60 I have only made 4 gold doing enchants!!! Half of the time in order to lvl up in enchanting you have to do the enchants on urself. SO I would say pick another prof. But it money is not an option then do it... My whole thing is when I get a green iteam I look it up on here to see what I will gert if I de it and go to a vender to see how much I would get if I sold it to him. I think that alot of people would agree if you can get more money for selling it then go ahead and sell it... But it is up to you...

Enchanters: have you ever tried to accumulate reagents for your latest formula and come away feeling... well, disenchanted? Got Strange Dust when you really wanted Soul? Is that Brilliant Shard just not large enough to satisfy? Suffer no more! Through countless hours of research, I've discovered the scientific laws governing the mystic composition of enchanted items. I just *had* to build a gadget to make use of this knowledge.

My latest invention will help you make sure you always disenchant the right stuff to get the shards, dusts, or essences you need.  Simply point it at any such reagent -- or even the reagent requirements listed in your formula book -- and you'll see an instant readout showing what types of items it can be disenchanted from. No more guesswork!*

* Due to fluctuations in the astral plane, disenchanting an item of merely "uncommon" quality will still produce variable results. No one can predict for certain whether you'll get a pile of dust, an essence, or a shard, but thanks to my invention you'll at least know what variety of dust, kind and potency of essence, or luster and size of shard can be produced.

No it doesn't (Only (9 copper, like all profs), but if u want the ingredients fast u need alot of munny 2 buy them at AH. Dis-enchant only works on green stuff.

This post is faded because it has a negative score.

its pretty hard to lvl up but if you do instances often like i do or quests that give you tons of items (that are of no use to you) to disenchant, the sure go for it. you could always make a low level Enchanter character, mail him all the BOE things you greeded in the group, and let him DE the stuff and enchant more. I do the same thing with tailoring. my mage is lvl 25 and hes making things that are 34+. anyways once you get high enough enchanting you can start running low level instances like SM to farm small radiant shards. very effective. at 70, get an instance that drops small radiant shards almost off all its blue BOP`s, that means 4-7 per run (since essence of fire is only like 1g on the AH), for fiery you need 4 small radiant shard and one essence. think about it...20g after 15-20 min (if youre an AoE class, mage, pally, lock.... you`ve got an advantage in farming, round them all up and DoT). by the end of2 2 painful hours of farming one instance, you can enchant people fierys for 20g.

phew that was huge.

All that I did as an enchanter is to disenchant all the green items i picked up, used the mats to enchant items i tailored and picked up, and sold them at the auction house.

Doing that you get alot of G for buying mats and also for buying up cheap green items and disenchanting them.

The mats can also be sold at the auction house, i put a nice comment on that in 'a pretty dumb question'

check it out, and good luck

enchanting costs a lot in general..and to get really good recipes you have to be in the outlands which is why im a sitting duck until I get there...you can obviously get the mats by farming and De's the stuff you get. However sometimes you have to get it from the AH which prices tend to be insane unless a stupid person puts it in for a lot less.  DE'ing is the best way to go so you can save yourself money. Plus the enchants people generally want you have to be a higher lvl unless a twink is looking for an enchant. You can make some very good money with tips though so it is worth it if you have the patience.

What I do to get items to disenchant, is I do instances with my main to get items that I can send in the mail to my alt. Then as the enchanting skill increases, I do higher level instances to match the skill level.

Enchantig. Main diff to other professions is you can't sell most of the enchants on AH (you can only sell few things like mana oil, wizard oil etc). Two sides of the same coin: costs more to lvl but(!) you have a freedom of tweaking your armor.

Lvling, money. You will spend more money to lvl it compare to other professions (not sure about Jewelcrafting, pls comment someone). Do not try to make money doing enchants to other ppl, does not work. Offer top lvl ench you have for free if ppl bring mats, this is only to help you lvl. Yes, you can desenchant items, even if they are soulbound, yet this will not cover your cost of lvling.

Freedom of tweaking. Fully tweaked for his lvl player is not going to be twice stroger then non-tweaked but it does help, a lot. Period. This is what you get from this profession. Most non-enchanters only enchant weapon (+15 agi, they love it :-) Why only weapon? If they want to enchant anything else they have to go to thottbot, check available enchants, check mats, go get them, then look for an enchanter on Trade channel (or talk to a guild enchanter). Say I am lvl 320 enchanter and someone is LF enchanter to do lvl 250 enchanht. I can't be bothered (if he is not from my guild), sorry. This will not lvl me, if he has mats he may pay me a tip (1g? 2g? by this lvl I have 1K g and not bothered with 1g), if he does not have mats I am not going to have this long conversation how much he is prepared to pay.

I love enchanting, make money trading or mining or doing dailies, enchanting is for tweaking and it is very very very good.

Agreed, if you looking 4 a moneymaker, don't go enchanting. it is possible, but u have to invest heavily ( several very costly rods, costly mats etc) AND go raiding frequently when lvl 70 to get the best enchants.
and still then most ppl have an enchanter in guild who will do those enchants for free if they got the mats.
besides that it takes up to much of you're time selling them and for the lower enchants there is hardly any market at all.
I only made some gold in the end cause i bought a lot of void crystals before sunwell on average 20 gold a piece, and after sunwell turning 1 VC in to 2 large prismatic shards that selled for about 35 gold a piece, but market has dropped now, and VC cost is about dubbled.

On the other hand, the ring enchants are only for the enchanters to use and they are SWEET!

so wanna make money, go bs or alch or just get  gathering profs
but if u want to get the most out of you're character go enchanting.

have fun :)

um.... u do know u can like enchant other peeps stuff without having to trade em... you open trade then they put the equip in the not traded slot then u enchant it and they pay. Everything works. I can't believe no one knew dat... cause i didn't see anyone say it.

disenchant everything except rare or higher boe's and you wont have to spend a dime on reagents.
