The game as merit.  Just because you don't like it, it doesn't mean the game sucks.  It's like saying I love racing games and you like puzzle games, so you think all racing games suck.

Yes, Runescape has outdated graphics and it's basically a CLICK CLICK CLICK CLICK CLICK game, but it has a huge world and tons of quests.  Back in the day, it was a very well played game enjoyed by a lot of people. 

Personally, I didn't like it but it doesn't make the game suck.

I agree RS does suck but for some reason its a fairly large MMO.

Yeah, I played RuneScape for 1.5 years, it was a good game filled with intelligent people, but then one day, Jagex took away PvP, made trade restrictions, and made dueling almost non-stakable. Just to stop autoers and scammers. About that time 200,000 people quit, like me. Then I came to WoW

So yes, it sucks, but it use to be good.

Same with WoW.  There are a lot of people who don't give straight answers and call people who ask things on trade noobs.  Personally, I try to play at night when most of the children are asleep.

there are way to many ways to hack the game e.g autos... they need to sort out things like that, coz when i USED to play it was very bad seeing so many bots but the amumsing part was watching randoms trying to kill them XD

It was okay, I guess. The programming wasn't too bad, but the graphics were horrible (not that I thought about it). Runescape was too repetitive, though, but it had its merits (it's free!)

runescape is proberly lessed played now because of all new the graphics no one plays it because you charecter is made up of giant pixels and looks like it has herpies everywhere

i agree, runescape does suck, actualy i played for about a year or so and i thot it was fun. but i decided to try wow. i quit runescape immediatly. it is much worse than wow.

and the reason so many people still play runescape is because it is cheaper than wow.

well thats not entirely true is it? being a member is the main thing when you get to a decent level on a skill..its pretty hard to play when your not a member..

I am wondering if anyone from wow still playes runescape. I played for a little wile because at my job there is a lot of down time, but now all i do on my down time is look at wow forms.

And is there anyone that still likes to play runescape? A while back a dude asked me on runescape, if i played wow and at the time i didnt have wow, but i was thinking to myself why would someone be playing runescape over wow?

I think I play Runescape just as much as I do with WoW, but I only recently got into this game, so that may change.  =P

Being a level 15 Tauren Warrior, I know I haven't seen that much of WoW, but there are a lot of things I prefer about RS.  Like the fact you can totally make your character a mutt; Being able to mage, range, and melee, use any weapon, and be able to use every skill.  I also like the fact that you can pretty much teleport anywhere in RS, making travel much less of a burden.  The quests are much more complex, which can be enjoyable, or your worst nightmare depending on how much you know on what to do next.

The graphics are pretty bad, but the game does work on a lot of older computers, and it's probably one reason why it costs 5$ a month rather than 15$.  =P

The thing is, why do you have to play WoW only?  I play a series of different MMO's all at once: Eve, WoW, MS with my cousin, occasionally D&D Stormreach, did a little of Lord of the Rings, some Rappelz, Kart Rider, a little Fiesta, and now waiting on Cabal, Warhammer Online, and Mabinogi.  I'm even considering Pirates of the Burning Sea as a break from WoW before the Wrath expansion.

Runescape is just an old game gone awry with its 'new' limitations and outdated graphics.  It's just liking Meridian 59 which I actually played back in the day and wondered why I did.  ^_~

As a pmod on RS, I feel obligated to be ingame some each day but that is becoming harder to maintain the more I play on WoW.

RS graphics and sound arent the greatest, the skill building is rather repetitive, and the worlds are full of kids begging for "fr33 st0of, pl0x!" and resorting to name calling when you dont comply with their demands.


The changes Jagex implemented over the last few months have reduced the gold sellers, macroers, and begging to an extent, but RS will never rival WoW.

My greatest fear is that with all the changes in RS, those same rude obnoxious people will be on WoW soon...

Sadalea, the unfortunate thing is that a lot of those obnoxious people are already on WoW.  They aren't nearly as plentiful as in RS, but there are still quite a few here - more noticable on Low to Medium sized servers. 

You know, if Jagex refined their graphics engine into say a full 3D isometrix engine with much needed updated graphics and content, I might just give it a try again.  Of course, I doubt they will.  They might as well make an entirely new game.

Rs is and will be bad.
i have a few reasons its worse than wow
1.wow's graphics are MUCH better
2.on wow you can do quests together
3.more realistic unlike dragon weapons you can get like sharpened letter openers on wow which if you think about it is realistic
4.runescape basically copied wow
5.WoW just has more choice of character unlike in runescape you can choose 3 classes and thats it..

Yes RS *sucks* because its so outdated but you have to think about the people who have to play it because its free. not that thats me WOW spits at RS but its better than nothing i guess. It dident *suck* till thet did the unbalenced trade and no PvP but you know throw those poor people that still are stuck to it a litte respect

Well, Runescape is simpler than WoW, so that may be a reason to play it. For example, there are no reputations, no gear choices (or very little), easy tradeskills, and no instances.

Granted, instances are great, but finding 5 people is hard (not really...) in comparison to RS, where its a 1-person game mostly.

WoW is also harder to learn, but it is generally more fun (except when you get ganked, but oh well...)

And its free, so thats a large incentive to play it. Though of course you could play Guild Wars, or something else.

i played it. it was ok with money making but in wow theres 2000+ quests in RS theres ........................ 105 looool

Runescape costs 9 $ for me a month when i played it and that was for 1 account! WoW is 15 $ a month for 5 accounts!

I played Runescape for over 2 years before I discovered WOW.  it was a great game, but it became boring.  the graphics were babyish, and alot of the players were young and acted that way.  They couldn't be trusted half the time to stay on the quest with you.  But I am finding out that it is also hard to find people in WOW that will remain in the group when it comes down to the long quests.  Many will leave half way through or just before the end.  I've actually had a couple that left right after we started and I ended up dying.  That sucked.  Cost a lot to repair. I do enjoy the fact there are more mature people playing WOW.

I did hear that Runescape is working on updating their graphics to the WOW level by 2009.  Who knows.  Me, I found WOW and I'll play it the majority of the time.  Only get on Runescape when my sister needs help.  I've got alot of family that play it so gotta get occasionally.  I'm trying to get them to switch. 

i played on runescape for a while and actually enjoyed it but it was pretty much just mining then smithing for me and to level up you had to get your strength attack and defence up.....much more annoying than wow levelling up and you could train all the skills...cud u imagine how long it'd take to get them all up to 100?

They banned me for nothin! THey suck! I got banned 5/13/08. Runescape is just some cheap way to take ur money. Eventually Jagex (which sucks) took away pvp, non-limited trading, much more. They don't even care about hackers or when u report another player. So plz agree with me RUNESCAPE SUCKS MY FROM MY @$$ TO MY FUCK.

runescape is full of scammers looking to make a shitty living in the world. in WoW, u can trust nearly anybody, but in runescape, no one, and i mean NO ONE is to be trusted

stay away from Pirates of the burning sea. I played the demo, And when they launched the game I thought it was half done. There are alot of glitches in that game IMO

I know this guy who plays wow and has never played runescape and is now switching to runescape because he thinks wow is too repetitive, so, all at once, can everyoe give me a "wtf"?

I agree with this guy all the way. I was playing the game for quite awhile and it kept on getting worse and worse. Then I found WOW which RULES!!!!!:)

Too late.  I bought the game for $30 and I played it for two days and quit.  By the time I got it, the game didn't have many bugs that were apparent, but traveling the 'high seas' took forever and although I love vessels of that era, the game just not for me. 

I don't think I said it right.  I play WoW.  I love it.  My friend plays WoW and thinks it's too repetitive, so he switches to runescape.  I feel abandoned, so I spite him by making pathetic comments on thottbot :)

Haha he played for 10 minutes and gave up and went back to wow.
