You aren't nuts, just not too bright.  Vortex's are apples, they grow on trees in SSC and TK, free for the picking and unlimited in quantity.  Skillherald with BoK up has 28 less attack power than Jin'rohk and only gives 31 crit rating.

But by all means if you would rather use your credit card than actually raid something for an item, go ahead, buy Skillherald.  I can see numerous happy guilds enjoying an extra bank tab due to your generosity.
