Gold is the rare spawn of Iron, period. All the legends and rumors of "special spawn places" are misleading.  Just look for it wherever you would mine iron and don't be too surprised if it seems hard to find.  It is a rare spawn, which for whatever reason makes people ask "yeah but where can I find lots of it".

I was mining for iron and i found some gold in athri, i founds a few spawns there, check them often =)

Yeap There are ocasional spaws of Gold mines in arathi, as some mithril lots of Iron, a spot for lesser bloodstone Ore, and ocasionaly True Silver.

I have also found Gold in the wetlands, far from those maps i really find it hard to get Gold veins (altough IRON AND MITHRIL are far more expensive in my realm AH, dont ask me why theres loads of those!!!)
