Pallys.. dont really die anyways. But at lower lvls ret is the way to go. And also Ret is for killing other people so if you wanna kill. Go Ret

RET = kills fast
HOLY or PROT = lives (holy more so than prot)

You can mix and match specs, but just be forewarned that you will lose more than you gain.

If you want to be a tank, dont go in thinking you can dps and do BG's Other than wsg (at ur lvl), ur role as a tankadin (prot) will only be served as a FC (Flag carrier).

Since you said that healing is not for you, ret is the other way to go. Just remeber tho that ret does not have the healing abilities as holy, nor the dmg absorbtion as a prot so you will go down.

hmm well if ret is like the other way for healing and holy and i can kill things easy then that prob the way to but then again the rogues like own in warsong gulch and other battlegrounds but im a pala so it is kinda hard for them to kill me so is ret really the best one?

now im lvl40 and kind of feel if i could survive abit so i was wondering wat would be better.

i dont mind healing but prefer to get right in there and attack.

If you want to be in on the "Action", you need to go prot or ret. Both specs have dif roles ofc so dont go into a spec unless ur sure thats what you wanna do.

Prot - is exactly what the title implies... you PROTECT ppl as a tank. The TANK is someone that takes all the hits (well as much as you can) and maintaining that aggro so that others in ur party/raid dont get hit. If healing is too big of a responsiblity, then tanking may be the same problem since w/o one, there is no "party". If you feel like are quick enough to pull aggro back from someone that "pulled", and you are smart enough to know HOW to maintain aggro, this is what you need. DEF>STM>Blk Rating/SD/Other mitigation stats. At 60 and under, concentrate on DEF>STM>SD

Ret - is THE dps spec. Ur main goal in this spec is to kill fast. You dont have to worry about mana or healing or tanking etc... You want to kill the mob as fast as possible to get out of combat. If you feel like ur not killing things as fast as you should, its most likely that you dont have the proper stats. Heres an order of what you need: STR/AP>STM>CRIT/AGIL>INT.

So if healing gets too hard because of the "pressure", tanking n going prot may become similar. The least amount of "pressure" would be to go ret and dps. Just be forewarned that just the healing n tanking pressures, if you cant pump out the dps, ppl may not want u in the group either way.

hmmm ill have a think about it coz im not sure now for any of them ret is for dps and prot is good for tank and i like both going and taking on things fast so its a bit of both maybe should i mix them?

Sounds like ur still new to the game. Do w/e pleases you cuz it is ur toon either way. Just dont be offended if ur called a nub time and time again.

To give u a lil insight, you CANNOT have multiple specs... at least not now. You have to pick which one u want and go from there. If you mix, u lose out on both specs, which makes u subpar, if that. Just ask urself this, do you want to pwn? or get pwned... do u want to learn? or stay nub.

If u want to do both, tank n dps, u rolled the wrong class. GO roll a druid and delete ur pally cuz u apparently dont understand this class =/

Ret pally... your so mean... LMAO.

but for real nicely put. You can tank as ret in lower level instances... It is not advised but it can be done. Doing DPS and tanking is not 1 job. It is 2 jobs.

YEah cross specing doesnt work....

I am obviuosly prot with the 49/12 build.
Last night I was in a pick up group and we wiped doing UB heroic because our healer fell asleep. I was so pissed because here I was tanking then realized I wasnt getting healed then went OOM .... GOOD BYE TANK  the lock pulled the aggro and before I knew it they were all dead and I bubbled and ran... I left the group because they all bitched at me because I didnt start healing the lock or do ardent defender or BOS... I was like WTF I cant tank and heal at the same time... needless to say they didnt say anything to the healer for his / her NOOB move or to the lock for not soulstoning me or the priest... It was fun though to watch them in general channel trying to find a tank for another hour.

SO in other word you can do one or the other...thats it

hey now, i just say it how it is. And besides... i thought i was being "nice" on that post? >.<

If that wasnt "nice" or even "nicer", then i dunno... maybe i shud stop giving advice? hahaha. Well if the guy comes back n says my advice was bad for him, then ok. But if he fades away and never comes back, it will mean 1 of 2 things. He took the advice and finally, FINALLY, became an ex-nub. OR, he was so pissed or embarassed by my post and deleted his thottbot pw. I guess only time will tell which one =P

im just messin with ya btw OP

Jejeje  I recomend you to go ret all the way to 70. Why? You level way more fast. As tankadin the only hope to level KIND OF fast is to grind 8-9 mobs at the same time, as holy i dont know never been one. Go ret al the day, at 70 stay ret for pvp or change to holy (wont find arena being ret). Be happy no matter what the people says. There gonna be times like people are going to pst you (whisper) and say "You know what? you will never finf\d a group with me agin" But kindly reply " You 2 ty, have a nice day"

Have fun being ret.

Level 64 Ret paladin.

i always thought palli ret dps was a joke. seriously, the best class, IMO, is prot (for pallis). warrs don't even come close to keeping the kind aggro that pallis can maintain and drood aoe threat CD is too long (i forgot the time). but from what i've seen in Dmaw, Frostwolf, Maeiv, etc., PROT IS THE WAY TO GO!

Yea running faster at lvl 31 is MUCH better than the increase in dps from the 3 pts u spend on PoJ. It also helps lvling faster since u take more time in killing things from quests. All lowbie ret pallies shud pick up 3/3 PoJ since it helps with ur dps. If u havnt done so already, go respec to lose dps and pick up 15% run spd increase... u will not be let down.

If you are lvl 19, what is ur current STR, close to 50? Well those 2 pts u spent to give u a 2% increase is a whopping 1 str from that 50str, 1 str = 2ap. Instead of spending pts in 2 trees, spend them all in ONE. It takes 41 pts to get u CS. This means you have to hit lvl 50 before you will have this talent. If you spend pts in other trees cuz they 'seem' nice picks, youre looking at pickin up CS at a later lvl. If you havnt done so already, look at the thread titled 'ret pally' and scroll down till u see my post. You can copy the build pt for pt or edit a few to match ur style. The build is a guide and by no means does it imply that it is the 'best' spec. It is however, IMO, the best way to spend ur pts. Give it a try if u want... but if u dont, you will understand and realize someday.
