Just soloed him as a 70 Shadow Priest. I spent about a half hour looking for a partner to do this quest, and then tried soloing one of the other mobs around him. It went well, so I checked here and someone had said that if you could solo one of those mobs, you could solo Cragskaar. This is definitely the case. He was immune to fear, but the tiny little caster pushback fiends he summons are not.

If you're a shadow priest, I had about 738 spell damage. It's possible to solo this with less than that even, seeing as I was still pretty close to full health when I finished and that I killed his little adds afterwards just to show off (making sure to shield when CD was up, and to use my improved vampiric embrace.)

He is soloable via kiting as a shadow priest like the common elites in that area are, except it's harder as he cannot be feared.  Make sure you have a clear running line, and equip a +run speed item.  After that, keep all your debuffs and DOTs on him, nuke when you have the space, and remember that his knockback often gives you the space to throw a Mind Blast in.  You have to hit him with something every few seconds as you run to keep him from resetting (SW:D and VE will do). Kiting also prevents the shards from aggroing you.  If they do spawn at inopportune times and aggro you, they're easily outrun, anyway.

Was also able to solo him with my resto druid. Moonfired and then ran up and down that zone there. I hit him with moonfire everytime just a little over half of the dot expired. If he catches up at any point, just pop a lifebloom and travel form away. I was able to use travel form after every moonfire (I have natural shapeshifter). You may also need to hit innervate depending on your mana regen/mana pool, and it does take a while for him to drop, but that's nothing compared to the time it will take you to get help downing him, especially on a low population server, or if you're in a guild with lazy guildmates.
