Hey Eveyrone.

I know this isn't for WoW but me and my friend have started a petition to try and ban unnecessary tattooing of animals for cosmetic purposes.

Now what all that means is that they take their pet, can be a dog or a cat even a HAMSTER to a tattooist, and the tattooist puts a tattoo on them to make them look good and they have no anaesthetic at all so they feel all the pain.

Now, I am fully aware that farmers need to put a number on their farm animals to identify them as theirs but this is done with a freezing pen so the animal doesnt feel any pain.

Unfortunately, to sign this petition you have to be a british citizen so if you're american you can't sign but that's not to say you can't try and start a petition in america..

About the issue, I didn't even know that people tattoo animals...what strange things people do.

You could appeal to the RSPCA or some organization, though I doubt that implementing this would be easy.

How would you check that people used anasthetic all the time?

I don't know how they know but its a pretty safe assumption that they don't because the sick individuals who do this are just 'regular' tattooists with no level of veterinary training so even    if they tried to administer an anaesthetic i doubt it'd work.

You missed the point entirely.  If one thing in the world has a negative, we don't all focus on that one thing.  However, since there are many things in the world that are in the negative, as a varied community expanding across the planet, we have the luxury of choosing different things to focus on, at least, to aid in. 

So there are millions of people who need help, so are you saying that the people who are willing to help should ONLY and SOLELY help those millions of people and forget about everything else that needs our help?

That logic is too narrowminded and inflexible.  First, you have to realize there are already people helping the less fortunate.  There is a vast diverse selection of people in various causes - either that be for human rights, animal rights, environmental issues, and so on and so forth.  So to fit in with what is closest to our own interests, experiences, and reach, we will choose the form or organization most suited to our own desires.

You talk about altruism towards animals, but you fail to mention altruism towards humans.  If you don't like to help others or to help a cause, it would not benefit you anyway if you had kept your mouth shut.  Yes, you have your opinion and you have the freedom to say that opinion, but you just wasted 15 seconds of your precious non-altruistic aka selfish reasoning to a thread such as this.

So leave this message to those that care, that wish to make some form of positive difference in the world.  It does not benefit you whatsover to go against it.

do you guys know how many millions of dollars (US) are spent on charity for food and clothing from non-profit orgs? believe me, its amazing how much money is spent on other people, unfortunately its not enough, and yes, we should help one another as people, but we gotta realize we're not the only existing things on this world...there are many other things that live, and if some of you dont realize, many animals are being put into streets because some people just dont care about them any more, and not only does it create another dead creature in the middle of the street, but it also makes everyone look bad, and soon, you might be living in a "ghetto" because there's dead dogs all over your street...

Sad but sometimes true.  I work at a University where the students i teach often cannot see past their perfect little lives. It is not always the case, but it is very common for people today to be very self-centered and do not get a look at the world outside of their own perfect little world.  Case in point, my fiance teaches at a public middle school in NJ.  One of the classes she teaches is a current world issues class where the topic of the week was world poverty.  She began by trying to give an example of poverty that the students might be familiar with so she began to discuss to poorer areas of NYC with her class.  After about five minutes, one her students raised her hand and said "Teacher, what are you talking about.  My parents own an apartment in NYC and there is nothing like that at all."  She was obviously talking about the upper east side which houses some of the richest people not just in the city and state, but in the country.  True, there are lots of people highly involved in helping the unfortunate or volunteering their time to aid in worthy causes, but there are just as many people who ignore or are ignorant of the fact that not everybody shares their perfect life.

That thing she said actually irritated me.  I know it might not necessarily be her fault for not knowing, but I can't shake off the emotion that there should be some degree of responsibility in knowing that there are a lot of people in the world that live in really bad conditions.  Take myself for example, I've lived in I guess what you can call a 'lower' middle class environment based on the general populace in Canadian cities or if compared to most U.S. cities, mid-middle class to upper-middle class.  However, I am completely aware of the slums of Vancouver, the decay of society around Chinatown and parts of Downtown Vancouver.  I don't see how anyone, even if they live in places like Terra Nova and Shaughnessy (high class, old money) can ignore or be ignorant of this fact. 

However, I am not saying that I do not believe you Scrow.  I am saying that I am irritated that there are people out there that just don't know, or choose to believe otherwise.

I do have a soft spot for pets and animal tatooing is just wrong...and kinda creepy

I am greatly opposed to unnecessary pain for animals......however I must say a naked mole rat with a tattoo sounds pretty pimp. XD

Its a sad issue, the pain which animals go through due to account of humans isnt fair, in almost every religion the general meaning is that humans are superior but should treat animals and the environment failrly.

But i agree with some - that issues of mankind should come first. When we have world peace (small posibility in the next few decades) I say you should focus on this more.

Also on the subject of mass killings of cows because one or two of them has a disease, we are the dominate species.  We, like other animals, do anything to allow the continuing existence of our species.  That includes killing.

Then I say: Chickens and Cows UNITE as one!  Then maybe, just maybe, you'll have a chance against the mass murderers known as humans.

People have to start somewhere.  Think of it this way: if you take on an entire fleet all at once, you will have a much more difficult time doing so.  However, if you take on the scouts and patrols and work your way from there, you may eventually defeat the fleet with less casualties.
