This is the first time I've taken skinning, so this may be normal, I don't know. My skinning is around 240 or so, and I've noticed that I don't gain every time I skin something that show up as orange. With mining I gain every time a node is orange, so I'm just wondering if this is normal for skinning or if I'm doing something wrong. If I had to guess I'd say it's Blizzards way of keeping a toon from maxing out skinning in one day.

Your theory is correct. Blizzard programmed it so we cannot max skinning in one session. From the numerous posts I've read so far, it seems as though it takes between 5-7 skinning attempts to gain a point in skinning once you reach 300+ skinning level.
You are not doing anything wrong.

Yeah, I just kept at it, now my skinning is 300 (still need to buy BC lol). So now at level 52, I can skin stuff I could never possibly kill. Thanks for the answer though, at least now I have an idea of how long it will take to get to 375 :)
