my friend which is a 70 epiced out war wit 12k health was telling me how a feral druid is the best tank in the game. i have heard alot about how druids r good at everythinkg but the best at nothing. he says that druids r the best so i was woundering if this is true bc i got a 56 bal druid and i was feral till 48 now that i m bal i have been criting way higher and killing a bit fast so if any one knows something about this just ad a comment and tell me wat u think

druids cannot block, since they cannot use sheilds. yes, they do have more hp, but for specific fights, a warrior is needed.
but gennerally, if your talking about more hp, a druid in fire bear can break 20k health before a warrior breaks 10k.
when my pali was hoyl i preferd druid tanks over ANYTHING they are the best tank class imo now my palis prot and im an ok tank but the other day i was letting a druid tank and i will heal even tho i was in prot gear with no holy talents and we were running heroic ramps i barely had to heal since he knew wat he was doing and how to do it ima stat up a druid and retire my pali once my druid hits 70 i just dont know a good name for it lol... Also druids get the first flyer as a skill like how palis get the first ground mount free
What I want to know is why beasts can block and parry, but feral druids can't. If we aren't a beast, then scare beast, track beasts, beast lore and hibernate shouldn't work.
/end rant
Lol saxm i hear you.
If only we could block and parry then there would be no need for warriors ;P Now seriously. Druids are awesome tanks, as a feral druid I tank alot of instances and enjoy it, i prefer cat DPS with OT'ing if possible though. Personally i think warriors are the best tanks in the game, if they are geared and played correctly. But there are times when druids should tank cause of the higher HP when geared. The other thing is that Warriors can take pots, use healthstones, and other such pots alot better then a druid as it shifts us out of out high armour & Hp form of Bear/Dire Bear form to natural form and therefore increases our damage over the period we are un-formed, causing most of the potion's effect to be wasted on the effort, at times leaving you with only an extra 500 Hp approx from the effort - definately not worth it in high lvl instances where you have more then 1 or 2 hitting u. If you haven't already used the CD's you should use enrage, frendzied regen - but this can decrease you agro generation sometimes at a cruicial point in a battle. Druids are the best off-tanks though and if you have a warrior and a druid tanking both with resonable gear through a hard instance it makes it a hell of a lot easier and makes CC no longer a worry as we keep and build agro so well, and therefore can handle 2 or more while CC only deals with 1 this allows the DPS to hit things harder and safer, without fear of them coming off onto them and making the healer's job harder. As clothies are so squishy. ;P
Drood tanks are awesome due to the massive amts of armor and HP they can have if geared right. As for the use of Pots, I find that you can get away with it if you pop barkskin immediately before the pot to reduce ur dammage taken, then right back into bear. Plus the amount of Dodge a bear has makes up for some of the loss of Block/Parry. Droods are awesome imo.
i think druids make decent off tanks but they dont really make good main tanks. for example, i had a lvl70 feral druid tanking for us and it took us 3 hours to do shekketh halls on normal because they couldnt hold aggro and didnt have enough health. im a balanced druid and i had 2k more armour and 3k more health in dire bear then she did!
and then to make things worse, the next day i went to the botanica and she joned the group and was dps and some how had more health in cat form then she did in bear form the previous day. I say druids can tank to a point but only if the player isnt a complete retard and knows what they are doing. if anything, druids are better dps then anything else and we should stick to it.
Just so you know, some of the mobs in Setthek halls are bugged and they wipe aggro a lot. Everyone is always quick to blame the tank in bad situations. And if you're a moonkin, you should definetly be watching you're aggro, as you are the highest agrro-ing class in the game. Druids are definetly not the best at DPS. We were made for pure support, and very rarely get to all out DPS. If you wanted to do damage all day long, roll a Mage/Hunter/Lock/Rogue. Druids make wonderful tanks in a lot of situations that the boss only melee's.
I have been feral quiet a while now.
Building tanking gear has prio over cat dps gear, as you normally need to tank in raids/heroics. The druid tank you described above clearly is just starting to collect the gear for tanking. Dodging is our main defense, together with high armor value and HP. That we all know. However, you won't have T6 tanking gear the minute you spec feral, so..... A lot of druids running around stack stam as much as they can. This is to be able to absorb spike damage in high end raiding as offtank. Good strategy, BUT: As all peeps are gearing up, the dps class do more dmg. More dmg equals faster aggro. In order to keep aggro, massive health is simply not enough. So, imo it's good to look at the overall stats as well, instead of stacking +stam only. Currently i'm running on a combination of T4, Kara, ZA, PVP and badge vendor stuff in tanking form (hey, who cares about looks on a druid? you are morphed anyways). Raid buffed I have 19500 Hp, but what I think is equally important is my dodge rating +44% and 2400 AP dire bear. I can run good geared dps classes without a pally's salva without losing aggro. Ofcourse 3 crits in a row on yur first maul/lacerate/mangle cannot be stopped by any tank... Good part in fast aggro build due to agi/str/ap is you have the dps, so if you are OT-ing and u can afford to pop kitty during the fight, you boost the raids dps. Not saying bear tanks should follow this, but give it some consideration while gearing up. Good luck.
here here! Finally a druid who understands something about threat! alls you here is earthwarden this and clefthoof that! "bears need defence, bears need stamina!" what good is a bear with 30k armor and 20k hp if all his raid is dead cuz he cant maintain aggro!
in my bear gear raidbuffed I just manage 20k hp and 27k armor, but with a massive 37% crit and 2.7k ap I can out aggro any critwhore spec warlock in 25mans which takes some doing... I know it's nice to have more hp than anyone else in the raid, but what good is that if you cant hit a mob? also bear in mind that even when tanking decent agi/crit is important, as every time you crit you gain rage, crits+rage=threat+threat Add Comment
