I was wondering, how come none of the item links work?

What do you mean?

I copy and paste the in game item link thing, paste it in game, and whenever I link the item I get disconnected. even for items I already have in my inventory.

EDIT: Nevermind, I got it to work.

IDK... it just started to work for me.
What you do is this:
click where it says In game item link on the page, then do <Control>+<C> to copy (or you can right click-->copy) and then go in game, hit enter, (it doesn't matter what chat you're in, guild, say, yell, general, etc... just no emote) and do <Control>+<V> for paste. then, just hit enter, and it'll give you a little link, and you can then link from it.
