Unless you're a fisherman or have deep pockets I'd recommend using the Tender Wolf steak recipe to get to 275 (what I did). This will take more time as this particular recipe goes grey exactly at 275 so figure you need a large amount of Tender Wolf Meat to get your skill to 275.
The recipe for Tender Wolf Steak can be bought from the Butcher in Tanaris- the same guy you had to get the Expert book from. A good place for Tender Wolf Meat is in Felwood - you can get a stack of these in less than an hour at your level.
If, however, you are a fisherman you can look at the recipes for Hot Smoked Bass or Nightfin soup (requires 250 cooking). DO NOT get the Squid recipe as the Mats for this are seasonal (Winter Squid is required and is only attainable in the wintertime I understand).
Once you do get to 275 there are a couple of options I know of:
1 - Get the Tuber recipe near the Dire Maul instance (the recipe is a random drop) - Materials are also found within or near the instance. I'd estimate that 40 Tubers would be enough to get you from 275 to 300 but you could probably get by with a little less.
2 - Try to find on AH one of the 3 Fish recipes that require a skill of 275 (I did the Salmon Recipe) and then look for the respective material on AH. For me, I bought 34 Whitescale Salmon at about 1 gold per fish and only used 27 of them. I'd recommend trying to find the materials FIRST before the recipe because you might find a better price for a different fish.
