hi i am 70 lvl holy priest in a pvp server.my opinion is that when it refers to xp issues going down in shadow tree is useful.blackout and spirit tap rules.also place some of your talents in the discipline tree especially in wand specialization and focused casting.when you reach lvl 70 turn your talents to holy and discipline.be sure to get circle of healing but for me dont use spirit of redemption.its useless. i wish you good luck my fellow priests :).

Don't get Spirit of Redemption?  Are you out of your mind?  It's possibly the single best point you can spend in your talent tree.  First of all, the Spirit Form has been a life saver on more than one occassion.  At times when I'm raiding, it let's me keep healing for 15s free of mana, and in those 15s, a druid can easily locate me and get a battle rez on me, leaving minimal downtime, compared to getting a battle rez where you have to ping the map for him to find your body.  I've even used it in cases where I was out of mana, no innervates available, potions on cooldown, etc. and I can kill myself to get the free mana in a case where OO5SR just isn't an option.  And, don't forget, that it's VERY powerful in PVP, particularly arena, where I can keep my partners alive for another 15s, which could easily mean the difference between a win and a loss.

Now, if all that utility aren't enough, the 5% bonus to spirit is worth the single talent point all by itself.  Raid Buffed, I have over 700 spirit, which means that 5% is worth at least 35 additional spirit.  With the changes to spirit in 2.4, that's worth about 12.25 +Healing, 42 MP5 OO5SR, and 12.6 MP5 I5SR.  That's a non-negligible amount of +Healing and a significant amount of regeneration.

As for Circle of Healing, it is a nice spell, but IDS is a more standard and powerful build unless both of the following are true:  You raid at least Tier 5 content and you have another Holy Priest who is spelled IDS who has very consistent attendance.  Bottom line, the IDS buff is vastly superior to CoH, because it increases healing, damage, and regen for the entire raid.  CoH is powerful, particularly in a fight like Void Reaver where a single group of melee is taking predictable damage periodically.  If you primarily run 10-mans or 5-mans, the value of CoH is negligible to non-existent compared to the benefit of IDS.
