I known there are millions of these but i like personal awnsers.  I'm frost lvl 18 and i want to do bg to get used to it so that i can do it later so i was wondering if anyone could give me some statagies for any level ( prefferably 18/19) thanks anyway.

i suck at pvp. in wsg i gave up cos i was so squishy, and i was fire specd.
in wsg if i saw a group together - horde usually travel in packs thus usually win, i jus blink into the group. frost noca and aoe spell all my mana out till i die. i know i wont kill neone but its funny seeing a mage at top of dmg table. i can rack 2-3k of dmg ant lvl 26 b4 i died. then jus blink and repeat till im winning.

as for nething else my casting time kills me, i cant get a pyro off even tho at lvl 40 it crits at 800+ on 30 greens.

I didn't spend much time in BG's at 19, 29, or 39.  You go OOM too fast, and you are too squishy.  It really wasn't until 59 when I had alot of success, went frost, got ice barrier, and had alot more mana so that you could jump in the middle of a group and spam arcane blast.  But hey, try it out, at least it's a good learning experience.

I have a lvl 18 gnome mage.  I work WSG and I am usually in the top 4 with killing blows and damage. as well as deaths. You are correct about being soft, but what I do, is I never stand still, don't want a rogue to ambush me.  If you see me, I am the little girl running around in circles using arcane blast continuously. I use three instant casts. I use frost nova first, then fire blast, then run tight circles using arcane blast continuously, throwing in a fire blast once in awhile. the bigger targets are slow, and can't hit you very well when you run around them as fast and and as tight as you can.  I burn alot of mana but I get the job done.  I usually emote a laugh when I am done, then drink up. I judge a good contest if I have more killing blows than deaths.  Good Luck

you can try to do pvp's at 19/29/39 but in my point of view its kinda useless to do, you get junk honor for games and kills, and people who say they are there for tokens at level 19 well its kinda useless at that level because you cant trade them in for extra honor.

if you want to do pvp get atleast 100 tokens of WSG and AB, thats what i would do, then goto AV and start to rack up the honor and 100 AV tokens, and start to buy some gladiator gear with your honor.

Try to buy ones that cost AV tokens that way you can keep doing them BG's for the good honor, im not sure if each set is different but on my rogue it was 50-60 AV tokens total for 2 piece's.

once your close to the higher 61-69 brackets you would have 2-4 pieces of gladiator.

im telling you just level up and do other BG's alterac valley games sometimes go for 15-20 mins and they have really high honor per game if won or loss.

low levels are hard to play as mage.upper levels diff story.my 49 fire mage usually hits top of list for kills and damage although im usually up there is deaths to.1 on 1 i dont worry about any classes except for locks and shammys.any others i will go toe to toe (so to speak).dont worry about rge or dru sneaking up.mana shield and blink.mana shield absorbs initial damage then i blink away and hit with fireblast.they run to you and i run to them and hit with blast wave then frost nova.from there you can move out of mele range and try to use fireball but if they pop trinket you can go back to fireblast and then arc explosion to finish.can use same strat with hunters but you want to stay in mele range to take away their bow or gun attacks.keep in mind that damage will be adjusted if you have combustion up.now most hits will be crits.shammys are a tough one because they have their own defenses against us but earth shock is close range and if you are doing up fireball and they come in close range,abort firebal and hit with instants because earth shock wont effect you then.freeze them in place afterwards and then hit fb because by then they have used 1 of their instants and delay will be enough to fire one away and then repeat with your instants (just hope their wind fury doesnt proc every hit.locks;all i can say is keep mana shield up to absorb their dots and hit with whatever is avail.remember you need gear with stam if you want to survive more than 2 or 3 hits.

on my realm i do AV all the time and have like 50% chance of winning. problem is theres like 100% chance to loose in AB os WSG if ur not preamde cuz horde own the bgs

I did my first BG PvP ever before in AB and we won 3 games on the run. I came 5th in the first game then like mid-table in the other two. I have a level 34 Draenei

I just play the same way I PvE pretty much. Frost Nova and Fireball. If they start running, fireblast.

If I'm getting teamed I cast Gift of the Naaru and then Ice Block. By the time Ice Block wears off, Frost Nova will have cooled down and I can blink away.

not exactly frsot nova is a 25 sec CD if not frost specd
