well im a 70 UD rogue and im subtly because of shadowstep :)

but using daggers do less damage tho

Well it's up to you really mate. I honestly would say if you're doing 2's, spec daggers and Mutilate as you get more Combat Points that way. But for 3's and 5's I would spec Hyrbid Combat/Subt. Just do combat until you get Mace Spec for stun, then get the rest into Subt.

Assassination, like the name seems, is awesome for picking off 1 target without taking much damage yourself.

One thing you should remember though, is Maces are the better for PvP when comparing Swords. Swords have a 5% chance for an extra attack, where Maces have the chance to stun for 3 seconds AND they increase your critical damage.

Mutilate is horrible and is useless :( IMO

The reason they went Combat for PvE and Subtlety for PvP is because those are the best for their respective purposes.I will say it again Mutilate sucks balls,there are not that many left because it blows.Even after the patch,they tried to help it out because it sucks balls.If something is not broken you dont fix it.Guess what genius Blizz tried to fix mutilate because it sucks balls.Do you get it now,no I doubt you do,because you are like a lot of other hard-headed rogues.Swords are better than daggers even in PvP subtlety spec ,swords are better in Combat than daggers as well.And i was just over mutilate dagger spec,it sucks balls.So what that means for now is that swords are better than daggers.When the new fists hit ,it is going to be differant tho!Anyways your stupid comments sucked balls as do you I am sure!

In my opinion as a Rouge, (Assassination/Combat), im in constant competition with subt rogues, they will have 20-30 kills in a Alterac game, compared to my 10minimum - 20, but my damage will be a little higher due to blade flurry and all my speed mini buffs, Berserk/bladeflurry/sliceanddice/mongoose

Wtf with cold steel, shiv, and gouge, mutilate=ftw, and it's good for fighting behind bosses
so what if daggers mean ss will deal less, the poisons have more chance to activate and it's more annoying to mages and such (more hits= longer casts)
overall, dps is about same,
imo instant poison ftw with daggers

Im 69  NE Sub Rogue and love shadowstep. Daggers are the way, Im one hit killing a lot of 60-63 Spell casters and. and the faster of hand is good for DPS, BTW im just PVPing. 

Ok here is my opinion on this from my experiences:
Subtulety, (especially with daggers) would only get you so far especially if you're depending on ambush to dish out a hefty first blow. I've seen creative rogues who just use sub for the shadowstep, hemo, and increased stealth mainly, equipping themselves with swords or whatever they have in hand.

Assassination,(my current spec) has many advantages to it, fast build up of combo points and energy saving talents just incase you dont get that lucky blow in :P Anyway, Assassination also has decent burst damage and Mutilate isn't a useless skill, if you think it is get better gear :S

Combat, in combat rogues comes a wide variety of gameplay. Combat maces are great for stunlocking, Combat swords has some decent damage output and more sustained dmg rather than burst damage. I've even seen Fist rogues who hold up well in BGs.

Overall the spec you get use to most, directly reflects off your own playing style, whether it be killing someone in a few burst hits or to slowly take them down while taking barely any dmg. Experiment a little and you'll find that "Ultimate Spec".

70 UD Rogue, Xaiku

There is no best PvP class... it depends on what you want to do. 
If you want to one shot and a mage and be useless after your first strike go subt.
If you want to burn down a warrior quickly but then need to hide and heal up after 2 or 3 kills go assassin.
If you want to go from fight to fight and not quite cut anyone down easily, go combat.

If it sounds like I favor one class I don't.  I have several 70 rogues, and it really depends on what is more fun for you... B/C if you are just wanting to destroy all in a BG you shouldn't respec your rogue you should make a Warlock. 

Warlocks are as overpowered in BG as a lvl 70 is in Goldshire killing Princess.

Honestly,have a look at the best teams,they are a
Pally and a subs or assasination Rogue.
The best 3v3 is a Pally,Assasinations Rogue,and a Subs Rogue.
Guess what!!! they both use Daggers!!!! Like for Fucks sakes Swords are not better than Daggers,Daggers arent better than Swords,Its the bloody Fantastic Players Behind them.

y all the fuss? they come down to 3 categories:

Most efficient long lasting rogues:
the most efficient long lasting rogues for pvp are sub/assasin rogues 11 in assasin and rest in sub. sword duel weilding here will last u good moderate dmg for the whole fight.

most burst out dmg rogues:
Assasination dagger weilders here. coldblood-ambush-mutilate=
high damage all at once but the dagger damage wont last the best for all the fight.
all ur hope here is in the first sneak-up hits!

And... pve rogues:
and finally pve rogues. here its simple... spec combat, get descent duel weild pve swords and raid awaY!

IMO I think that for pvp combat is best that is what I am specc'd. I am only a lvl 29 ud rogue. But for me combat is the best I am taking down npc's that are up to 4 lvl's higher than me. I am not sure if I am gonna stay combat when I hit 70 but right now I am staying combat...

I'm combat, had been doing PvP for a pretty long time at 39 and was doing really well. I think combat is good for pvp too, used swords, and was basically always up near the top if not at the top of the board. Granted, I was getting the rewards so I was well geared, but it works. Really good for PvE too as people already said. Havn't tried the others yet, so I can't really say what's best, I can just say combat can work well with PvP.

Am sub/combat duel wield spec does more dps than ppl think but i use a slow wep in mainhand sword/mace/fist and a quick wep in OH dag/sword since use instant attacks do more damage with a higher damage wep than a quicker one and get the quick ones in ur OH to apply poisons works good drom my expoerience

Ok personally, I went 21/0/40. Obviously, those who play rogues know this is Assass/ Subtlety spec, however I sacrificed SS for ColdBlood, for the following reasons.  I wanted the 10% increase in AP, as well as the 15% Increase in Agility as well as the 10% increase in hemo and BS.  Not only that, but I also have hemo, premed, and Prep, all of which are useful in both pve AND pvp.  Hear me out.

-I put 3 points in Imp Ambush, so my crit chance for Ambush is now 75% (45% imp Amb + 30% base crit)= 75%.  So I will generally open with Premeditation (adds 2 CP), a massive 4k crit with ambush (45% chance to add an additional CP, I now have 4 cp's on the target), immediately hit them with a Kidney punch, hemo the shit out of them til 1 sec remains on KP, Vanish, Cheap Shot, preparation...burn his ass down. 

It may sound liek a lot of work, but it is extremely effective, especially in arena's when you're focus firing on one target and your partner is distracting the other.  At some point in there, I would hit Cold Blood, possibly after getting another 5 CP on him, and Evisc the shit out of him.  Needless to say, Im usually top damage in both raids AND pvp.  I MH Glad Sword and OH Malchazeen or Emerald Ripper.
But I think it totally depends on your style of play.  I have gotten my ass handed to me by a combat rogue in pvp, but have destroyed hemo and assassination rogues as well.
