How close to the same level do the animal have to be to your own to tame it??

If I'm Lvl 22 does the the animal have to be 2 or lower??  Or can I tame an animal 1 or 2 levels higher than me??

it has to be the same level as you are in my experience. You can tame lower levels of course, but nothing higher.
