i've been in several groups over the past few months and have have killed all the elites, but maybe my luck is just horrible because whenever we roll, i never ended up with anything. As far as the spawn rates, ultimately, 6-8 hours is accurate. i've tried posting my hunter on lookout from above and check in every half a hour or so while i use my alt, and it seems to take a while to reswapn.
In any event, i'm a 70 BM/MM hunter and found this to be quite easy. i've killed Skarr about 6 or 7 times in the past month now and i'm making dam good money off of his drops. i do the same thing each time. i have a scorpid pet, i lay my snake trap, hit him with serpent sting, draw him towards my trap, then sick my scorpion on him. once it gets rolling, i start mending my pet, keep hitting him with my sting, and every time he uses that lightning attack to draw me in, i drop a trap right at his feet. Basically between the trap, sting, and my pets, easily i can get close to 100 dps over time with all the active stings, adding in arcane shots and the pets normal attack, i can bring Skarr dopwn inside of 2 minutes. i do have some of my PVP gear, espeically my crossbow, so i understand it may not be so easy for everyone else, but it's very manageable for a hunter, just keep the heals rolling along for your pet, keep on your aspects to generate mana, and if you're lucky and have a mark of conquest, usually every 5th shot is generating a good 100-120 mana for you as well.
