Same thing with dampen Magic.  I have both these skills, but I never use them.  When would be a good oppurtunity to? I have a 25 Fire mage, and have run WC, SFK, and BRD continuously every night.

i have a 23 fire mage and love it. amplify magic is good when low lvls attack u and u have a healer. dampen is good for when u dint have a healer or soloing.

amplify magic for increased spell dmg on you = bad
amplify magic for increased heals on you = good

dampen magic for decreased spells on you = good
dampen magic for decreased heals on you = bad.

pretty much dampen magic as much as possible until u have a healer. put amplify on tank in dungeon especially

k ive been playin my mage for awhile and basically this is how i go about it.

solo bg's arena(without healers)= dampen magic

amplify magic should really only be used durring boss fights who don't cast spells so bigger heals will land on your party. using amp for solo, bg's and arenas are asking for trouble.

Good question and good answers. I'd also recommend using Amplify if you are mainly facing mobs that are melee fighters.

Usefull on some endgame bosses, gruul uses no magical attacks, can help to keep an amplify up on tanks as it increases healing received.
