I got a lvl 50 Paladin with Blacksmithing and Mining.
I want to replace blacksmathing for Engineering (where to I even do that?) The only good thing in BS for me are Sharping Stones. Where Engineering gives you bombs, cool gadgets, good things for pulling.
So BS is only for making money and for personal use are only the sharping stones or did I missed something? You can even buy BS items in AH even if it's for big money.
So wourth changing and where do you do it?

You can do it at any trainer just go to your skills and unlearn bs then learn engineering at the trainer.
Be wary tho most of the stuff on eng IS personal use. To use it you have to have the same eng as it takes to make it.

i would make an alt and make it do engineerin' and minin' becuase i have a lvl 52 warrior at lvl 20 i chose to stop engineerin and do blacksmithin (which i'm lower in skill then my engineering alt who is almost lvl 15, wierd hu?) i think you should stay at blacksmithin becuase they gain lots of money and make a engineering alt, just sayin' and to learn engineerin' you go to Dwarven disrect(SW),Tinker Town(IF),none in Darny,Azure watch on Azuremyst and Trader's Tier(Exodar)for those who are Draeni and with Burning Crusade,Engineer's corner(Silvermoon)for Blood elves,Rogue's Quarter(Undercity),none in TB(Thunder Bluff),Vally of Honor(Orgimarr).
P.S. Engineers make very little money while blacksmiths make lots of money.
Engineers make little money?? guess you never leveled up to 305 to make the Zapthrottle Mote Extractor? 200 gold an hour farming motes without having to kill a single mob
Let me refrase what i said LOW LVLED engineers make little money (EZ-Throw dinamite makes $$ but only up to 1-4g and so do guns they make and scopes and bullets sell for a modest amount of gold or silver or gold and silver).Higher the skill lvl the more $$ you'll make trust me. But still Blacksmiths make a resonable amount of silver and gold even when you first start while engineers need to wait till they can make guns and scopes and EZ-throw dinamite to gain lots of $$. They also sell bullets for some copper or silver.

honsetly, even though i love engineering, i'd leave your paly alone and stay with BS. it'll suit you far better in the long run as far as making your own armor and weapons. sure,you can buy them on the AH for big money, but BS is also a huge money maker with some wicked patterns that are available later on.
Engineering, sure, we def have some cool stuff as far as trinks and bombs, gobin rocket launchers, jumper cables, etc, but how much of that is really going to help you out in the long run, at least for your paly? It's definitely a tough decision, but i'd stay with BS. nice part about engineering is the fact that we make and have stuff that you can only get if you're an eng, so it is defintiely kinda cool having a lot of these special items no one else can.
Here's what i did, i ended up making a few different toons, making almost all of them miners, and i have one that does JC, and other who enchants, and my engineer. it doesn't seem to take half the time to level JC that it takes to engineer, so whenever i'm on the other toons i have, i send all my extra ore, gems, bits of leather from LW to my engineer to constantly make stuff and level up fast. i get a bit bored using the same toons all the time, so i bounce back and forth quite often, play each toon for an hour or so, send all my extra mats to whatever toon needs them which at this point is my engineer. i've basicaly leveled my engineer from 1 to 265 in a matter of like 3 hours. now, i had saved up a ton of mats because i knew i saw gonna make the switch at some point, but you get what i'm saying. nice part is, i've been jeveling my shammy, hunter, and paly at the same time, farming the same mats with each toon that basically they can all use. i also have a 70 hunter who's a 375 LW, so i make all the armor at this point for my hunter and shammy
I'm taking the different boat than these are on, and the sights are far better. Dump that crappy BS. I was in the exact same position as an Orc Warrior, and the only thing it was good for in the end was the Sharpening Stones. I couldn't justify spending thousands of gold to have the ABILITY to make high level gear. I mean, in the end there's going to be one set of armor or weapons you're going to want to keep for yourself at 375... meanwhile you'd have already spent closer to 6k gold getting there for mats (less if you do a TREMENDOUS amount of farming.) There are a few good pieces that you can AH well, most of the good stuff is BoE, which is a shame. Now Engineering... lots of cool toys, most of which you can sell and most of which again are in good demand across most of the servers. Engineering is hot right now, and BS is never a money-maker. Now if you had 7 different alts who all make gold by the bagfulls, i'd say stick with the BS, but chances are you're main is that 50. Engineer my frined, make lots of gold, and then make an alt who will benefit more from BS. Not bashing the items in BS, cuz they are quite good, I'm just saying the stuff in Engineering is ALSO quite good, and it just plain sells better (mostly due to the fact that you CAN actually sell it)
