ok I know that to do some moves I need to have a dagger in my main hand but I wanted to know if I had a dagger in my main and a sword in my off hand would I do better DPS? or should I have daggers in both of my hands? Thnx

I have spent sooo much time trying to find the answer to the question of swords or daggers. I still honestly dont know wich I'd prefer to use. I have seen many top ranking pvp rogues who use maces or swords with a 20/0/41 spec. I have also seen good rogues with the same spec use daggers, altho thier spec has the ambush and backstab points. I think that it all comes down do how you personaly like to play. If you want to stealth lots and rely on burst damage, go for daggers with an ambush spec and dual wield daggers. If you want sustained damage and rely more on your stuns then go for swords and either combat or subtlety spec. (I'm going 20/0/41 with swords) Hope this helped. :)

thnx for ur help. I was assas. respec'd to combat. I am now a lvl 26 i have a mase in my main and a nice dagger in my off hand its the meteor shard. but i am looking to find a nice dagger to have so i can switch between swords and dagger...

When you're high enough, fist weapons ftw. I have the bloody brass knuckles from SM... they're so fun.

I'm a combat spec and got Vanquisher's Sword in main and Black Menace for better poisoning in off, sometimes switching them.Spend a lot of time to learn about what's best, and dond get any distinct answers...

Btw, crit chance for dagger in main is 17%, if it equipped in off will it be the same chance?Wanna know need i spend points on "Dagger specialisation" or no.

I havn't tried combat spec yet, but if I were to try it out I think I'd dual maces. Go mace specialization for the stun proc. I dunno how offten it procs but I think it'd be nice to try out.

I recently changed my lvl 70 from cobat daggers to swords.  I had epics in both.  Changing to swords upped my dps no end and I went from mid-range on the dps mtr to top instantly for Kara and ZA!  For arena I carry both and macro the daggers to equip, ambush (for that big bang and since it is difficult in 2v2 to get a sap off) then auto swap to swords for dps.  Works well - a crit on ambush can half the health of an unsuspecting clothie in one go, then dps with swords = a quick death.

To get the benefit of the talent points you really need two of the same weapon equipped (ie to get the dual weild specialisation).  The dagger/sword combo doesn't do as well as dual sword in any situation.

For levelling I suggest daggers (I did it subtly spec which worked well, but combat daggers would too), the backstab and ambush are great for soloing.  Then when you start to raid and do higher level instances regularily respec to combat swords for the dps.

A decently spec'd and geared combat sword rogue will top dps in most line ups.

I'm spec'd subtlety for PvP, since thats what I spend most of my time doing, and I use dual wield maces.  the merciless glad. main and off hand maces have the exact same stats as the swords, so it depnds how you spec, I went maces cuz humans had a mace specialization, but it must have been phased out during some patch. but, since Im saving arena points for the new season of arena gear, I doubt Ill be switching weapos anytime soon, but I do want to try swords eventually, since you can spec extra attacks on sword.

I have been playing a Rogue for some time now and i have seen almost every kind you can think of. Most talk about how one is better than the other. Well I'm going to say this right now.  THERE IS NO SPEC THAT IS THE BEST!!! Any spec can be good if you play right. As for the weapons I'm going to put them done and lets see what you all think.

Daggers: This weapon is the starting weapon of all rogue.  Dagger spec rogue have lots of different ways to go. Assassination is the only talent tree that ends with a attacking move in it and you have to use daggers to do that move. There is Ambush and Back stab on the Dagger side to. Both have high damage and great Crit chance. Combat spec Daggers are the first one you can get so it makes it easier to get even more crit chance.

Mace: Mace Rogues well have a nice stun chance in the Combat tree that i don't see to much of. The maces are the same in all ways to the Swords and the fist weapons, but all of them have higher weapon damage than the little dagger.

Swords: Sword Rogues get a extra hit if they spec far into combat but not much if at all different than maces or fists. 

Fist. Give you 5 more Crit chance but other than that they are the same to Swords and mace.

I know that there is more to it when it comes to spec but im not talking about spec here I'm talking about the weapons that a rogue can use and why they are equal if you wish to say some thing is better than try think the other way the next time you do.

First of all Zearha there is a spec for a Rogue that is best.What that spec is depends on what you want your Rogue to be doing.Sub spec is "best" for PvP Arena.Combat spec. is "best" for leveling.Sword(Combat) spec is the "best" Raiding spec.So I dont see why you say there is no best spec.Yes there is,thats why the most succesful Rogues use the specs I have mentioned above for their respective purposes.If it wasnt that way then you would see sub. spec Rogues topping the meters in raids(*not going to happen with equally geared members in your Raid)That is why you dont see as many dagger specced Rogues in the Arenas because it is not the "best" spec. for that purpose.Now what the "best" spec. is and what your "personal favorite" spec is,are two completely different things.

Yeah Best for you but i have played sub all the way throw and tried the other two when i reach 70 for pvp. Nether felt as good as sub ambush to me so that is what im sticking to it, i don't care to much about raiding seeing that my server is almost dead but the pvp is great. fast que and equal matches.

well thats what i do mostely because about ebery time i use ambush i hit for 3-4 thousand plus when i cant ambush i can do much damage because i dont realy know much about the other abilities

just use both im a chanter almost lvl 29 rouge so use sword main dagger off hand if u are lvl up to 70 chant word with mongoose and dagger with crusader glad if i helped =)

actually it all comes down to playing style some people are better suited to certain specs and can still sustain dps. also just because high end raiders are certain specs doesnt mean it is necisarily the best spec its just the best spec the feel comfortable playing with because it suits their style.to put it simply is not because its thier favorite its because they can actually play better with that spec than others.

Jackn, i like everything u say here, but am confused about one thing so please come back.
U say sword/combat is best for raiding, and you say that sub is best for pvp/arena.  You end with saying that u don't see dagger specced rogues in Arena. So, and I'm honestly curious here not arguing, then you ARE saying then that Daggers are inferior to Swords in both pvp and pve?

For the most part yes above poster .At one time Hemo swords was laughed at,now many Rogues use it for Arena.Let me clarify Combat specced swords and Daggers are very close in dps in Raids with swords winning out over Daggers by a small margin.In PvP I would say that since there is a thing called Resilience(what res. does is prevent big critical hits)it takes away the huge crits associated with Dagger specs therefore making Sword spec much more viable for its top end white damage in Arena's.So you can thank Resilience for virtually killing Daggers main use high end crits.Also if ya go Mutilate you would use 2 slow daggers and is viable in PvE and in PvP so if you were gonna go Daggers then Mutilate would be the best way to go!Hope this helps everyone understand this a lil better.
