I was wondering whether people thought the level 70 epic weapons you get from your weaponsmith trainer are worth the materials to make?  It seems like they take lots and lots of expensive materials.  I haven't started doing heroics or kara or anything like that yet, so I'm not really sure how they compare.

Haven't been 375 too terribly long, but I'm using Blazeguard atm and I love it.  Fast and hits hard.  Great stat buffs and dps to boot.  I'm a pally tank and b4 everyone flames me, it's how I choose to go since my guild does NO raiding and I've had no luck with pugs so I am forced to work with what I have. Especially awesome with SoR, BoS, and Holy shield going, then having Reckoning proc.  eats up mobs fast.  Easiest thing to do is do the daily's for Shattered Sun religiously if you can.  Lots of $$ to be made there.  EZ 150-175 just from quest rewards.  That doesn't include dropped items, trash, coin, etc.  2.4 allows you to buy the mats you need, but yes they can be expensive.  Have to weigh what you play and what is going to be accessible to you.  Meaning does your guild raid?  Can you get into goo pug groups if not?  Everything is situational.  I'm about to upgrade to Blazefury and throw 40 spell dam on it.  Since I can't raid, I make do the best I can.  best of luck in your decision and happy gaming!

on that note grinding out shattered sun will also get u an epic tanking shield, and enuf money to buy a flying mount for anyone who dont have one by lvl 70, plus the quests give nice lil rewards like the blessed coatings of attack power, and mana regen..I would save up your honor for a one hander and get the gladiators sword instead i have that myself. as far as the twohanders go the only one i dont see going anywhere is lionheart, eventually with all this real nice loot and another season coming out its tuff to beat those seasonal weapons it is. my buddy a hunter got his s3 axe after 4 weeks of solid grindind, when it came out. correct me if im wrong, but thats my opinion

Does black smithing take a boat load of gold to get to at least phantom blade !?!??!?!?

The phantom blade isnt cheap to make for the level you are when you learn the plans. I farm the primal shadows for the epic weapons (fireguard is what I have now until i get 3 more levels to 375) and would just buy the primal manas since they are usually 15-18g each at the ah. And I would buy eternium and farm fel iron. Its not that bad if u can farm like 45-60 minutes each day.
