How many times have you seen a character needlessly hacking a level 1 rabbit, or a squirrel ?
Have you ever killed a cow, a chicken, a snake ?
Pity the level 1 critters, the real victims of WoW.
Let's create a Refuge for Suffering and Persecuted Critters Anonymous (RSPCA).
Next time you see that parrot just going about its business, don't kill him, don't.
If a toad steps on your toes, don't step on him, don't.
/sob
/sniffle
That's all I wanted to say.
Here is why I hit critters:
1) Gain weapon skill.
2) Use them as a target to Charge before a mount.
3) Test new abilities (which I don't do so much anyway, since I know what they do)
4) If I get pissed at a sheep, I hit it, I guess, but this doesn't occur very often (usually if it gets in the way of targeting, and causes me to die)
5) To see how high of a crit I can get.
Errr...that's about it.
OOoo that sheep it looked at me ....ahh its still looking at me.... ohh no now its following me... its a horde in disguise thats it ... ill teach him a lesson.... *a few seconds later* whoops just a sheep i guess
oh no now that sheeps looking at me too.....
Once I was in the Wetlands fighting a crocolisk with my warrior (happy days), and when I finished killing it I noticed that I was still in combat and something was persistently hitting me.
Looking down I saw a toad giving me such a slap round my boots (with no effect, ofc).
I don't know how it managed to get the aggro, but I just didn't have the heart to kill it. I just walked away, and it happily returned to its hop-hopping around.
Demoralizing shout, maybe?
you can also skin some low level critters so there is a use for them there too, like sheep sometimes give wool instead of leather (or leather scraps etc)
Most probably.
It had to be an AoE talent of some sort.
I suppose it was lucky to escape the Thunder Clap (which I also try to use in a fight).
i personally kill the plauge deer in plaguelands because they're the creatures that spread it in the first place. way to go scarlet crusade you killed of young children that looked perfectly healthy but neglected to kill the blistering green deer
I get so desperate in Shadowfang Keep (hoping for the mythical drop of Shadowfang) that I am now even killing the rats in the faint hope they will drop it.
Sad or what...
They won't drop it, I think.
I was being tongue in cheek here :-)
Unfortunately it needs a 25 mob to drop.
Ah. That I didn't know. In fact, it would make my wiping of Shadowfang Keep much faster. Can you remember the website that says that ? Is it an official Blizzard fact ?
They won't drop it, I think.
I ALSO remember that they adjusted the level range, so almost all (except like 4) mobs are below 25.
Unfortunately it needs a 25 mob to drop.
Well, that's what I read, on some webpage, somewhere.
Oh...right...sarcasm.....oops.
No, I don't have an official source, it's something I came across while surfing the net a few months ago.
I guess you could go on thottbot and see if anybody said something about it...I'm going to check now.
EDIT: people are still farming it, so I guess it must still be droppable.
Actually, every time I run anyone through WC, one of my eyelids twitches when someone whacks a snake. I even developed the habit of betting with myself whether that player running towards the critter will kill it or not.
In The Barrens, there are families or herds of wild elk (well, they go by a different name) and the little ones are quite cute following the grown ups, running free and just trying to grow up, then someone comes by and kills its entire family. I would not be surprised if one day or night, all the critters of Kalimdor unite and raid Orgrimmar and Thunder Bluff in one massive blow of vengeful force!
Be afraid. Be very afraid!
@_@
We need to have all the bunnys of the world unite for one final assult on SW they all need to just run in and scream revenge...bet you didn't know that the bunnys have the AV Towers buff...25%helth and dmg increced near another bunny
*Dead*
More than once my hunter used multi-shot, and a nearby critter was the unfortunate recipient of one of the three bullets fired. Their fault for getting in the way, I always thought. Now that there's an organization to protect them I'll be more careful. Besides, it's a wasted shot when you see it hit the critter for 400, and the one that struck the mob you're fighting does like 30.
I like to pull mobs over near critters and hit them with chain lightening so kill 2 rabbits and no one can say I did it on purpose. Mwahahahah
Refuge for Suffering and Persecuted Critters Anonymous (RSPCA).
love it XD, laughed quitte a bit about this
2.4 Patch notes (I think it was 2.4)
Spells such as Chain Lightning will no longer chain to nearby critters.
Or something like that.
I don't know why but on my hunter i just shoot any critters i see...i think squirrels are the funniest to kill cuz they squeak really loudly. Frogs are fun to kill too. In Darnassus. With starfire. When it crits for abt 3k. Not mean at all, i am.
I have to say, i have a habit of sending my pet after Sheep and rabbits along the side of the road when im running somewhere, before your able to use a mount Critters are what pass the Tedious Drudgery of those long runs to certain areas, they may be completely defencless, but at least they know they died for a greater cause.
Well my opinion is they are just computer generated little NPCs with bad graphics so killing them would be as much of a difference as flicking a bit of water on a fly by accident.
kiling them little guys is so fun, im a rogue and i ambush em just to see how high ill crit. When my little sister is in the room she screams at me not to kill the "cute" bunny. its hilarios.
I SKIN THEM! I SKIN THEM ALL! I SKIN THIER LITTLE FURY BODIES AND GIVE THE FURE AS A BLANKET TO MY PET MR. WIGGLES! HE ALSO RUNS AFTER THEM AND HUNTS THEM DOWN FOR HIS OWN FOOD!!!!!!!!!!!
(Laughs evily)
jk, i still step on them though.
Theres incidents of critters attacking people when the use nodes (mining, collecting herbs) THEYRE EVI:
Low level critters are there for levelling up low level weapons, skinning, and generally for your killing entertainment while on those long runs prior to gaining a mount...plus you just never know when one of thos little critters is really an opposing horde/alliance patrol in disguise...LOL...never can be too careful
:P
I have an ancient ritual of doing favors for critters. I polymorph every rat, snake, squirrel, rabbit, frog, or even sheep that I see.
I always felt sorry for the critters that walked into my 'blade flurry', seem Bliz did too and fixed it in yesterdays patch. No more guilt trips from the wife for slaying innocent rabbits :)
So THAT'S why there are so many rats at the Warlock trainers in Stormwind!
It seems the designers thought it'd be fun to try new spells on them.
well you see i have superior knowledge about the squirrel near the AH in darnassus.....its illidans spy....so i kill it before it can gather too much information about darnassus.
also, the frog thats on the way t the AH frm the bank in darnassus is really lady vashj so if you kill it you kill her.
ahh you see. nothing is quite what it seems in the wondrous world of warcraft
