I'm a lvl 43 Bloodelf mage and I love it. The spells are powerful useful and overall fun. I've tried every other classes and I disliked all of them. Plus when you raid there is nothing better because you can take out more than other classes because of the area and ranged area attacks like blizzard and arcane explosion.

aparently theres a table of classes that show which class has an advantage over which class.

if 2 players are equal locks prob would rule but then hunters own locks.. apparently paladins are on top since they bubble heal etc.

but dps wise with burst dmg, mages rule. pyro in ur face

The table of classes at infoceptor is about stupid.  advantages of mages is backwards imo.  my lvl 70 mage one on one pwns just about all classes except warlocks and hunters, and if I come accross someone less skilled, i can take them too.  However, the table says that the only one that I have advantage on is a hunter, where did they get their info?!?! I am sure as all characters are fun to play in their own way, but mages being the least fun to play out of all classes are you kidding?  Out of all the classes that I have played, mage is the most challenging and quick thinking class there is. Im sure that some enjoy it I just dont see the the long term fun of standing there trading hacks with monsters (i know there is more to it). Tanking allows you to see the foot of some monster in intances, oooo, that sounds like fun.  again this is MY opionion. 

YES i completely agree mages are a very expansive, adaptable, overall bueatiful class in WoW. About the tree thing... I don't see why it says such nonsense im a lvl 53 mage and i can own all classes so idk about that =/

mages do rule and yes i haveplayed a prot pally too but i prefer mages for all the cool things they can do also they way they don't have evil moves like locks but only the noob mages use pyroblast the good mages use blizzard and cone of cold and polymorph so it all depends on the mages skill that is also why i like the mage it is in my opinion the most challenging and skilful class mostly because they are so squishy but the best thing about them being so squishy is they are so tactical and good at escaping i mean imagine this what would happen if you are a rogue or a warrior and a mage goes into iceblock while its elemental (which hits 40% of the mages spell damage or something like that) is hitting you for lets say 500 every 2.5 or something seconds for 10 seconds then the mage blinks away and hits you with a frostbolt (the pet is still attacking) then mabye if it procs the freeze thing then they hit you with mabye 2 more before you get close (i'm talking about a frost mage because they are better for pvp 17/0/44) then they use cone of cold and then because you are within striking distance they run INTO you (this is a great trick because they can cone of cold then arcane blast mabye twice because arcane blast hits you when you are behind them as well as in front of them then frost nova) and if you have survived this long you are lucky ( also if you say you stunned them or slowed them i am a gnome mage so i have escape artist)then the mage can keep running then turn and frostbolt (to remind you the elemental is attacking you this whole time and has a special frost nova that works from a range) the mage might need to pop a manastone then you should be dead but if your not they can frostbolt you for a while then if you get up close they should be able to blink then nuke you then if you get close up coldsnap and ice barriar or whatever that is so you can't touch them and you really should be dead unless you are a gm and then thats cheating oh and i know this doesn't always work so yeah oh and that shouldn't even happen because the warrior or rougue would be lucky bcause the second i go into ice block i call my team in and in 2 seconds u got a whole lot of shit on you

yeah i tend to have trouble with shamans too, but over all, mages dominate

yea shammies r hard because of their damn earth shock thingy but about what frostbite said about only noby mages use pyro in instances im a 38 UD fire mage and u just need to kno wen and wen not to use pyro if ur gonna i usually start off something like this: scorch,scorch,scorch(to let tank get aggro in the beginning)pyroblast(if threat meter says tank has alot of aggro) fireballX2,fireblast. so yes many mages use pyro and pull tanks aggro but if u start off with a couple scorches to get fire vulnerability debuff if u got improved scorch than u pyro u do massive damage and if ur tank has plenty aggro this is a great way to start out but i only reccomend using pyro if ur positive ur tank has aggro cuz if u crit too high and pull ur tank is gonna have a hard time chasing after u while u run and jump in circles trying not to die

If a shaman has 10.000hp you can use water elemental and trinket.
Shatter combo that does 4500dmg and a fire blast for 1000dmg.
Then there's only 4500hp left. When they are trying to heal just use counterspell and then you can blink, frost nova, ice lance and cone of cold. If they use grounding totem do a ice lance on it and then nuke.

you forgot that we can earthshock, and purge, and purge you a okay sham can beat a mage easily

You can't do Earth Shock if we are more then 20 yards away and frostbolt and ice lance have 30-36 yards range. And even if you purge you still can't reach us.
