I recently Created a arcane mage, just for a reason of using in AV battlegrounds, i know it sounds kind of stupid but i wanted to see if great to have what i call suicide arcane bombs.

I need a bit of help deciding what kind of stats to have, and armor to have.

I have a 70 rogue so im really noobish to using magic using toons.

My objective is to have my mage to hit high arcane explosions in them big crowds that seem to build in AV.

Right now i am at level 25 so far my arcane explosions are hitting 60-70's with 100 criticals.

My base mana is at 1960 or so about 2100 with my buffs.
Hp is around 950-1k

now i am really confused about the amplify magic on my friends mage toon when i seen him do BG it seems with that on it did more damage, but when i was using i noticed it does more damage against you, so its not a damage amplifier with your spells im guessing.

which is my next question should i use amp or dampen magic 80% of the time pvping and pve?

so to sum this up..

Arcane mage:
-What should my Mana and HP be at when i geto Requirement lvl of AV?
-Should i be using amplify or dampen magic
-and what kind of instances drop the gear i will need for my mage.

would apprieciate any help from skilled mages

There are only two uses I've found for dampen and amplify magic(I'm sure there are more).  When you are in a group, put amplify on your tank IF they are going up against melee mobs.  This will increase the healing done to the tank, and preserve mana for your healer.  For dampen, I use it on myself in PVE when going up against caster mobs.  It decreases the damage I take.  Other than that, I never use them.  If anyone has another good use, please join in.
