I've been 70 for a few weeks now and have been grinding out rep for a few factions to get access to a few things for my professions...but im starting to get ready to head out to kara with my guild.  I was wondering how much i need in each stat to be ready and effective in kara.  the stats that im concern with are the base stats (unbuffed) like stamina, agility, int, AP, crit, and resilence (if needed).  Im really interested in some good and honest advice with as little bashing as possible.  Thank you for ur help.  Below is a link to my hunter so that u cant check out what i have so far.  I would have asked for specific gear but there is so many different items out there that it would be easier to ask for stats...plus it would be a pain to check out tons of links that would prolly go up.  thanks again.

All depends on your guild imo man. Mine lets me raid in my pvp gear because i've only been 70 for a while also, but make sure you have NO greens lol. I got my pve helm from kara my first run so it was nice lol. I've been thinking about doin more heroics but i'm not sure so this info would help me out also lol.

Not bad for just popping 70, but you still have a ways to go. Replace all those lv 68 greens (with the pvp gear like you are if you have to), upgrade your ranged weapon and put +crit scope on it(pvp crossbow if you have to) replace the Devilsaur Eye Trinket with something that adds stats when equipped and not just when used, and put +35 agility on your melee weapon.

the only reason i have that green gun is b/c of my racial bonus.  As a dwarf i get a crit bonus with guns, and its significant enough for me to pass on a lot of other ranged weps since most other weps ive come across dont have agi or their dps is the same as what i have (or very close).  I dont think it would be wise for me to give up 2 or 3% crit for 2 more dps on a couple of the boss drops ive seen.  as for the rest of my greens, im working on the rest of my pvp gear to replace those green.  but im not sure where to get a better trinket.  i think im gonna work on getting marks of HH to get the trinket from the vendor in zanga to hold me off for a while.

thank for ur help.  i would appreciate anything else anyone has to say.  thank you again and take care.

oh and about the 35 agi.....tho i understand why u say to get agi to wep, b/c that is a hunters main stat.  but if i were to replace the 30 int i have right now, i will lose a bigger chunk of mana (450 mana).  wouldnt losing that mana have a huge affect on the longer fights?  just curious and trying to get has much clarification as possible....thnx again

when i was sv/bm spec for kara i tried to be put in some party as a mm hunter for the aura. also a shamans mana totem and ne other mana spells - wisdom is a big help.
i usually put on mana aura unless i get buffs cos when i run outta mana autoshot sux, i try to pace it out so i dont aggro with burst damage.

most people dont care as long as you have mostly epic gear then they wont kick you out of the raid, also the pressure to cc ( espec during moroes fight) is big. as SV hunter its very manageable but if your trap breaks and its still on cd your screwed, as well as raid.

i hate to boast but i am an awesome trapper.  i actually take pride in my CC abilities b/c ive gotten to the point of being just as good at CC as a mage and most times better.  the only difference is that i can trap everything not just humans.  but back to the stats...

i have a few epics, a few blues, and a few greens, yet when i check out the armory of other hunters with more epics and no greens, we have pretty much the same amount of stats. they have a lil more but not much.  my biggest concern is agi and int.  again i hate to boast but my game play is flawless.  the only time i cause any problems is when i lag....lol LAG, the hardest boss to beat in all of WOW.  but could i get a bit more insight on agi and int for mana.  whats a decent sized mana pool for raid.

thnx again to those that respond.  everything is helping in someway or another. here is my armory link (i changed a few gems to get more AP).  yeah i know i need a better ranged wep, but im saving up to get the gyro gun (the eng made one).  i dont use bows cuz as a dwarf i get a very good increase in crit if i use guns.

i opted for more dps on the bow than the gun but im saving up for the epic arena gun. gyro balanced khorium destroyer is nice but isnt it more of a tank weapon with +30 satmina on it? jus saying that because its around 1000g on the AH

yeah the gyro gun is more of a tank wep but its a better hold over wep than the adamanite rifle i have right now.  besides i just made enough money right now and can buy it.  but another reason im going for the gyro is b/c there arent very many good guns available to me at this point since my guild is barely getting rdy for raiding.  I know there are good bows out there in 5 man dungeons drops but with being a dwarf i get a increase in crit with guns and its enough for me to pass over some of the bows that have dropped while ive been in dungeons.  lol i have made many warriors very happy

Ur passing up doing more damage with a bow or crossbow because you are worried about losing a little crit??  You could easily make up that small amount of crit loss with a new trinket like Skyguard silver cross, a +35 crit scope, +35 agility to 2H, or cobrahide leg armor, (the scope, +35 agility, and leg armor you should have anyways).  And your crit will increase as you get more pvp gear.  The scope and silver cross trinket alone will give you 3% increase.
#1 rule as a hunter, never pass up a better ranged weapon.

when u ask for advice, probably not the best thing to shoot down other peoples ideas they give u. just shutup and read the posts people are providing. obviously u are a new hunter to this game and need help. i suggest going to wowwiki.com and reading about hunters. while ur on that site u can read about kara and what to do for boss fights and stuff. as for base stats for a hunter...

AP - around 1400
Crit - 25%-30%
    * Strength: 65
    * Agility: 530
    * Stamina: 535
    * Intellect: 213
    * Spirit: 84
    * Armor: 5683

    * Weapon Skill: 350
    * Damage: 546 - 680
    * Speed: 2.43
    * Power: 1420
    * Hit Rating: 71
    * Crit Chance: 26.01%

thats one of my buddies that runs kara.. he does decent dmg output and is a good cc addition.

thnx hunt for the numbers.  but i dont see how i shot down anyones advice. but anyways.....i have been on wowwiki, ive just been looking for some answers from other ppl.  cuz u never know if there is another way to set up ur hunter to make him just as effective.  most of the things that have been posted here, i already know.  Im just trying to look for that lil bit of information that i dont know and try to imporve from where i stand right now.  and yes i am relatively new to the game, however i have a better understanding of hunters than most other ppl.  It doesnt hurt to ask more questions....its better to ask than to look like an idiot later.  i love how so many ppl have gotten upset b/c i ask legitimate questions and also when i explain why i have a certain item or spec a certain way.  btw im not shooting u down....im just stating what ive been going thru the past few days.

and about the crit post....i kept the gun over the other bows that i have come across so far b/c even tho they give out more dmg, its not much.  the gun that i have has 60 dps and from the drops that i have seen for ranged, the highest i have seen is 67, i think.  thats a 7 dps difference....sure i can do more dmg, but by switching to a bow i will lose 3% crit by just not using a gun.  and with my current build (43/0/18), i already have a lil lower crit rate than other hunters.  so right now if i drop my gun for a bow, i will go from 16% crit to 13%.  yes i know thats low for a hunter but im trying to fix that by asking questions.  most other hunters are at least 20% and up, so i feel that sacrificing a lil more dmg for crit chance is worth it.  and again im not shooting anyone down....just stating why i did what i did.  but thank you all for ur advice.  i really dont want to start any arguements but i feel i should explain what im doing so that ppl can get a lil better understanding of where i stand.  but i really appreciate everyone's advice, its really helping me a lot.  thanks

to be honest u dont need crit..ya its cool to c in big yellow nubers 2k, 3k, 5k or whatever it is...but u will do way more damage if u look for gear that has hit/AP/agil/int in that order...crit is nice but not needed..the more RAP u have the bigger crits u'll have!

what "ztinger" said is along the lines of what u should do....go BG till u cant BG anymore!!!! get a FULL set of pvp s1 and with full epics "pvp" u will be set for instances like kara and gruuls...maybe Mag..but thats ur best op...get pvp gear then work to getting pve from there

yea i just armoried you (thats what it seems to be called these days. I agree you will need to switch those greens with blues, and as for kara, just get soem more stats, nice stam, but i hate that blizz makes crappy guns. the best in the game is the vengeful one, which will be a bitch to get the rating. i personally like SV for raiding and arena, jsut because while rading you can trap anything forever (with spec for it, duration is 26 sec, CD is 24) and if you screw up the trap jsut wyvern sting it and kite it...ive gotten thanks in raid because sumone messed up my trap and i kited for a few, in kara, CC = not many wipes at all.

yeah i love the improved traps....ive got 18 in SV for the traps.  and i have been practicing since i was a lvl 50 so that i can CC effectively at high end runs.  and as soon as i get my agility a lil higher (at 500 right now), im gonna switch to full SV with some MM.  But yeah i agree with everyone saying that I need to get rid of the greens but im a chanter and have been farming for the rare formula drops so that i can help out my guild since we a small and fairly new guild who is just about ready to run kara.

but yes i am grinding BGs in the down time between farming so that i can get gear to replace my greens.  i have quite a bit of money now and ill prolly buy some upgrades thru AH and a LWer for stuff to hold me over til i can get some better drops and/or pvp gear.

again thnx to all

The advice is good and all but pvp is not a good step to getting into pve raids. pvp gear is mainly stam and crit, which the crit is nice but the stam is for the most part useless(unless your against an AoE boss). If your trying to gear up for kara i would go with grinding out instances for full blues (get atlasloot and check which ones) than heading into heroics to get your first epics. I started kara with almost full epics from crafted and heroics. mind you kara is a very easy raid and if the groups well geared doesnt matter if you have greens even (have taken a 69 shamy through before on a PuG ><).

So go do instances for full blues, than heroics for first epics, than move onto kara.

Mustain. BM Hunter

check me on armory to see what a kara hunter is like :)

p.s. the gun buff racial for dwarves is little enough to be ignored until you get into endgame because for the most part raid ranged weapons will be bows and they will be the best you can get. switching to a higher dps bow will add more than just the dps difference between the weapons.
switched to sunfury off of prince and gained over 100dps so it makes a big difference
