So I am 144 and need to lockpick at 175.  Where can I practice?  There are lowlevel locks in the lumbermill in Redridge but does that work at this skill lvl?

screw it im to lazy to sit and read a long explanation im stuck at 170 heard a few things on where to go off the Desolace coast, easy enough long breath cause im an Undead, but problem is i dont know where to go.

These are all crap answers so far, although pick pocket is a very important part.

You say your at 144 now? I'm trying to remember the exact levels and my memory is fuzzy, so don't quote me but here's my best recollection of when I did it:

You COULD, technically get to 150 from the poisons quest box in the barrens, however after 125 it's very slow, so my initial answer is Desolace.

Your goal in Desolace should be to get high enough for the SM doors, which I want to say require 175, althought I could be wrong. Go to the SM doors and try them, it will tell you what minimum skill you need. Once you know that number, that is your goal. The far northwest part of Desolace (above Mauradon) has a coast area with Naga's swimming around. Unless your undead (like me ;P ) pick up some underwater breathing potions from the AH. Swim the shallow parts of the water up and down the coast, there are lots of boxes here that will level you. Your going to have to deal with the annoying Nagas, and it's not a quick skill up process. Kind of frustrating, but I'm now at level 350 lockpicking and let me tell you this is the worst part so just keep in mind that it gets better. Continue to farm boxes here until you hit the minimum for the SM doors.

Once you get 175 (or whatever it is) go back to SM. Destroy your SM key, you will never need it again. There are four doors that are viable options for you now. The two outside that access Arm and Cath, and the ones inside arm and cath. Unfortunately, the ones outside are on timers, and you can only open them every so often (in my experience it was roughly 10 minutes). Ideally at this point you are a much higher level than the elites inside so you can walk past them, if not then you will stealth past them. Begin by picking both doors outside, and then enter either instance. Run up to the door inside, pick it, leave the instance, and reset it. Some people don't want to fuck with Arm because it's a far trip, this is up to you. Every time you leave the instance and reset, try the two outside doors again - sometimes they will go, sometimes they wont. Keep in mind you can only reset the instance five times and then you must wait an hour, for this reason I feel going into Arm is a good idea too.

If you follow these steps, I believe the SM doors can take you all the way to 250, although at around 240 you only get a skill up some times. Now you need to pick pocket to around skill level 270 or so and then you can pick the BRD doors. Theres three of them right in the beginning so you just pick em, run out and rest. Quick 15 skill ups every hour.

OK I'm tired of typing, but this should take you a good ways. You can also spam up the trade channel in major cities that your opening for free, but I recommend you wait till at least 225 for that, and even then it's not reliable IMO. Anyone who happens to be on Aegwynn can in game message me (Mohawksftw) for any more help. Hope all this time I just wasted to kill time at work helps someone!
