As a balance druid I have heard many arguments about the Moonkin. Some people say its great others, say it will only get you killed ( my friend says you might as well paint a target on your forehead if you have moonkin) I would like to hear eveyones opinions on this argument, so I ask again MOONKIN:BOOMKIN or DOOMKIN?
Thottbot > Forums > Classes > Druid > General > MOONKIN: BOOMK...
whats the diff??? This post is faded because it has a negative score.
im pretty sure that by boomkin he means you pwn, and doomkin= you get pwnd. if thats what you meant
yes thats what I mean, pleez just answer the question
I have heard that Moonkins are great. I have a feral talent but I am thinking about switching over to Balance for the Moonkin form. I have asked alot of high level druids about Moonkin form and they all said that it is very useful. So I think that the Moonkin would work out for you.
yeah I think moonkin should be useful but my friend says you might as well paint a target on your chest in moonkin form, im still gonna stick to balance no matter what i just want to see what other people think
I meant in talents..
O then theres no diff
Boomkin and Doomkin are just Moonkin nicknames
Or how about OOMKIN?
whats that? Out-Of-Mana-kin?
That works too
Anyone else gonna comment??
Well as a tank I very much like having a balanced druid in the party.
Good caster aura: all party members within 30 yards have their spell critical chance increased by 5% Can pop out of moonkin to provide backup heal :) always good for tanks, and has saved my but on tough bosses Provide some CC; hibernate and cyclone Solid single target spell dps. Great armor in moonkin form, can survive nicely on their own. Plus I'm always happy to see three trees rush in with the other melee dpsers EDIT: And battle res is sweet as well, fight still going on, and mage is dead? BR, hello mr mage, nice to see you again. Innervate mage for mana regen... win the fight
Now those are my feelings exactly, I wonder what reasons people would have for not liking moonkin form?
they hate moonkin/boomkin/doomkin/OOMkin form (rofl OOMkin) because there jealous that the moonkin has the most badass dance in the game =D
<(^-^<) kirby! d(^-^d) kirby giving you a thumbs up! t(^-^t) kirby giving you the finger!
lol
interesting theory PS: <("<) (>")> <(")> Kirby dancing
Any more comments?
well being balance myself moonkin is pretty awsome even when u control those trees and moonkin has armer and use your normal mana moves! I mean its a dire bear and normal form combo! Basecly its amazing with most of the guild mates hugging me lol =D
Now what is this Im always hearing about Moonkin/Boomkin/Doomkin/OOMkin armour??
Also known as panzerkin, lol, this basically means the moonkin form has a rather nice amount of armor..
oh, well thats simpler than i thott. Back to the debate! Moonkin/Boomkin/Doomkin/OOMkin/Panzerkin, good or bad???
My friend is a balance spec druid, im enhance spec shaman..must say we pwn quite hard in 2v2 arena
i just tryed the arena today. i had no idea what i was doing. i lost so bad. now i know though, hopefully i will do better next time. oh well im only lvl 24. cant wait for moonkin. or travel form
First of all it depends of your talent tree. Second if you ask me Moonkin is the best but as i said it depend from your build. I mean if all your talents are in balance you would definitely have problems in pvp(except if your aren`t very* skillful whith the druid)and mostly you`ll be doomnik in this case :). And for those who are afraid to become OoMkin well you shoul get some gear which restore mana + the talents: dreamstate,intensity...But if you want to be successful in pvp i think that the best build is :
Required Talent Points: 61 Balance Talents - 46 point(s) # Starlight Wrath - rank 5/5 # Nature's Grasp - rank 1/1 # Improved Nature's Grasp - rank 2/4 # Focused Starlight - rank 2/2 # Improved Moonfire - rank 2/2 # Insect Swarm - rank 1/1 # Nature's Reach - rank 2/2 # Vengeance - rank 5/5 # Celestial Focus - rank 3/3 # Lunar Guidance - rank 3/3 # Nature's Grace - rank 1/1 # Moonglow - rank 3/3 # Moonfury - rank 5/5 # Balance of Power - rank 2/2 # Dreamstate - rank 2/3 # Moonkin Form - rank 1/1 # Wrath of Cenarius - rank 5/5 # Force of Nature - rank 1/1 Feral Combat Talents - 11 point(s) # Ferocity - rank 5/5 # Brutal Impact - rank 2/2 # Thick Hide - rank 3/3 # Feral Charge - rank 1/1 Restoration Talents - 4 point(s) # Furor - rank 4/5 It`s not the easiest build but i think it give`s a lot of opportunities, and that makes it useful in pvp ;)
I actually beg to diifer. I have been very successful in PvP, even at lvl 24. Most of the time i end up going against lvl29s
and i have no problem killing a lvl 29 rogue without anyone elses help. Warriors are no problem no matter what lvl as you can entangle them and then they cant do poo! Hunters are a little more tricky but i have still killed a lvl29 hunter + his pet with enough extra time to claim the stables in Arathi Basin before reinforcements came. I am also very skilled in cat form which comes in handy against some other classes. My point is that i am full balance and have no problem in PvP
You know, lots of people say that balance druids have a hard time in PvP and that you should be feral if you want to PvP. I am a balance druid and i LOVE PvP. What kind of comments can we get as far as balanced PvP goes?
A 24 Balance drood 'pwning' a 29 warrior? That a sad, sad warrior. Your not even a Boomkin yet...
Boomkins can rock the BGs, if they are smart. For one, your a target. I don't know why, but when I see a giant freaking owl spamming that moonfire crap, I just have to kill it. The smart ones stay somewhat behind the scene, you don't know they are there untill giant columns of light start raining down on you. By the time you locate the offender, its too late.
OK maybe that warrior wasn't lvl 29, but the rogue and hunter were, I SWEAR! .oh well, thats beside the point. Yes a smart druid can be very powerful. I dont think you really meen moonfire because only noobs spam moonfire, maybe starfire but hats less mana efficient that wrath, then agin wrath would give away your location too quickly. Also a smart druid would probably root anyone who tried to find him/her so you have an even better chance at staying "behind the scene"
As lon as we're on the subject lets get some new conversation going. Druid tactics, ideas, strategies, questions, anything to keep a lively forum going
I was wondering if someone could help me with finding twink gear for a 29. I had a 19 that was the BOMB! But i can't find the gear for a 29? Or know what gear to get?
Well as long as we're on the forum I might as well recomend looking it up on Thottbot, not much else i can think of... OH a site called WOWhead.com is pretty good too, there's also a guy on the Rogue forun who wrote an article called "Lvl 1 twink", he is the ubertwink master! ask him about armour for a druid twink, he'll probably know something
anything else?
www.wowhead.com?
Are you allowed to advertise the competition here? :)
Moonkin can come in handy but, my 70 warrior will chew them apart. I hate Feral Druids. Good luck all :)
OooooK...thaty was kinda random. Feral Droods R kinda powerful, but the whole point of this conversation is to discuss Moonkin/Doomkin/Boomkin/OoMkin/Panzerkin/etc./etc./etc. which would generally be Balance...Generally (T.T)
I dont think Thottbot would have to much of a problem with me mentioning WOWhead.com here since everyone who plays WoW already knows about Thottbot and will generally go here first. that and WOWhead is seriously lacking in certain areas, I have yet to check out the whole site but I already know that there are some big gaps in that site that Thottbot could fill in.
PS: If you happen to be a Thottbot admin:R U happy now!?..GOSH!
Moonkins Rock!! I have a lvl 70 moonkin and love the way it works out. 1st of all your a casters best friend,2nd you can pop out of moonkin form and back up heal if need be.
Mistshroomy
There we go! Score for Boomkin! I always wonder what people complain about them for, maybe their just jealous? lol
I got a lel 55 balance druid and i have to say that i love it.. the only thing i dont like about them is that they got no kind of stun, silence or spell interrupt (i know they gain 1 at lel 70 but that makes then immune to all other attacks too =/ (and that doesnt help me in this lel))
A few lels ago i dueled a warrior 3 lels higher than myself and he was like butter to me, he didnt even stand a chance. 2 DoTs and roots so he couldnt move i had him down in a few secs without even breaking a mana =P I dueled a holy paladin 3 or 4 lels lower than myself too at that time and i had him down only haveing DoTs on him, with like 80% hp left. ofc he healed himself so i had to wrath him a few times to but he was no probs. But when i dueled him is his healing gear (It was a GOOD set of healing gear) i really felt a lag of spell interrupt. in the first duel i was only spamming wrath and he was only healing (had 4k mana and 86+ spell damage or something like that) and then i was a OOMkin and he had a lot of mana to spare. We both got to full hp and mana and tryed again. this thime i used DoTs and my trents too, and in the end this was to much for him so i got him down. Good things about balance druids: - Nice DPS - Can support healer in case - Mana regain abillity - Good armour - Shapeshift to break slow/bind - Can stealth even tho they are casters Bad things about balance druids: - No spell interrupt - Only got root to bind enemy and got no slows (had time keeping ppl away from u) Considering everything, i really like having my balance druid. - Sizo level 55 balance druid - Darkspear server
Very interesting (kinda lengthy though T.T)
i have a level 65 balance spec druid and i'm definitely enjoying the druid, and its moonkin.
i love the versatility, especially when you have different sets of gear. i use 1 set for PVP, one for questing/dungeons, and one for healing. the pvp set is basically mostly 'eagle' stuff, loaded up on stamina and intellect. i'm working to build enough points, however, to buy the special purple pvp gear with heavy resilience support as well as spell crit. but in the meantime eagle is good.. on the pvp battleground, when in pods of my team i often just sit on the edges of mass fights and entangling root the heck out of everyone. i will literally toggle enemy and root, toggle, root, toggle, root, toggle, root. everyone once in awhile i'll starfire, moon, and wrath if necessary, but in these instances i just root the heck out of everything in a support sort of role. it's highly effective and most of the time i get by far the most honorable kills on the battleground. for quests/dungeons, i bust out a full set of invoker gear. it gives me a spell crit chance of near 30%, and when i use a starfire and moon fire spell (while you're waiting for the star to cast, be hitting the moon, it will instantly hit after star), i can get 2800 and round 800 points damage. thats 3600 spell crit. not bad for level 65. throw a swarm in there, and then blast away with wrath, or just keep doing the star moon combo: works great. i usually get in the top of the damage meter standings in the dungeons i'm in, unless of course i'm with a level 70 rogue with all purples... :) the lack of stamina with invoker gear works good in the dungeon context, or while questing, because in dungeons you have healers who support you and while questing you do enough dps to take out pretty much everyone before exhausting your health. and with the good self-healing skills of druid, as well as innerverate or treants if necessary, you can get out of pretty much any situation. as a healer, i throw on physician/healer gear, with heavy intellect, stamina, as well as healing bonuses. with a sweet full set of gear you can get an extra healing bonus of near 1000 and even though you are spec'd DPS balance, i've been able to heal in lots of dungeons for major groups. i use my innerverate a lot, of course, and always have an extra huge set of major mana potions to back myself up in case. i also make sure to use elixirs, both battle and guardian, as well as scrolls to buff up. anyways, moonkins rock. find a potent staff and keep building your staff skill up, so that when you're farming you can use it, especially at the end of the battle a few times. it helps to conserve your mana, and it also awards you bonus mana, cuz moonkin melee absorbs mana. just some thoughts... mug
Yup, it's all about the gear. For now, as i am only lvl27 i go for gear increasing Intellect and Stamina, i have a lot of health and mana this way and the extra mana is really helping me out when fighting large groups in PvP or high lvl monsters in PvE. Today i faught a monster three lvls above me by standing at edge of my range, casting SF IS and MF then spamming wrath untill it died, i was amazed to find that i still had half mana (i cant say the same for my health) Intellect really pays off, which is good because im currently broke after spending all my money to re-gear. Can't wait till higher lvl when i start getting the good, spec-specific gear that helps so much
I have a 70 Balance drood and I have to say that at lvl 70, a lot of warriors and ppl who know how to spec right can break out of your roots, so don't count on them. Cyclone btw owns them all! But, since the new patch, they did decrease our range on it from 30 yrds down to 20 I think it was. I love my boomkin, she kicks butt and with the right gear, you will own. I'm not even halfway pvp geared and I crit well over 3500 lately. And when you hit 70 and have 4/5 of your glad wyrmhide pvp gears, your wrath casts have a chance to get your starfire cast to be like 1.5 sec faster or something, you just gotta watch for the buff to come up and bam, there's your crit and your stun. I use this all the time in instances. Also, I have ran with feral druids, shamans, and warriors in instances and I have to say my boomkin can out dps/dmg all of them (yay dps/dmg meters). I love to see that halfway through an instance I get over 1,000,000 dmg. So, in my opinion, feral 70's are a waste of gear, when boomkins own when gear'd and spec'd correctly. Also, once you do get your glad war staff, get the enchant - major spellpower on it, the mats might be a bit expensive, but +40 spell damage is worth it!
Being a 70 druid must rock, my friend says that "70 is when druids start getting fun" i disagree, i think that druids are fun on almost any lvl (except below 10) still i cant wait till 70. Ok. new topic: what is the best gear for a 70 drood? on PvP? on PvE? soloing?
BOOMKIN for sure! i've got a Boomkin with a 41/20 spec Bal/Resto. i have several toons, a few level 70 hunters fully geared in s1 sets, a mid level shammy, a 70 rogue and of course my druid. none of them comes close to the dps i can dish out in an instance, or the fact that i can bounce out to heal and rez when needed. although i love a ton of different classes, my hunter was my main for quite along time. i used to own druids in PVP, with the exception of afull resto which suck to deal with, but it was always a long, slow grind of a fight.
i started my druid because i grouped up with a 63 Boomkin and helped him run Blood Furnace one day. what i saw was impressive as hell. average hits were anywhere in the 1500 range, criting constantly and heavy dmg of a good 25-3500. although i topped the dps meters by a large margin, it was impressive to see this guy beat out our fury warrior and our rogue in dmg. ever since then, i've been a huge fan, leveled my druid very quickly, and although you def do have a huge target on your back in PVP, i can drop most classes in a good 10 seconds. my HoT are awesome for instances, my dps is always tops or close to it in every bg or instance. i've tried feral a few times and respecced every time back to balance. if geared prperly, with either a full set of glad armor or better, a druid can be the most dominating class in the game hands down. enough said, i don't want to keep rambling, Boomkin all the way!

That sounds awesome, and i am glad you chose a Druid over all thoses other classes. One thing though: The question was "What GEAR is best for a Druid" Even so i enjoyed reading your comment.
