Best hunter weapon in game atm.

But why do i have a srange feeling when i look at the stats? Damn, what's the heck's wrong with its damage? 140.4 DPS for hunter who doesn't do melee?

How about other classes and the raid utility of this baby? Let's take an example of retribution pally with BoK and Divine strength talents with Cataclism's Edge and compare it with Shivering Felspine in terms of pure DPS contribution from stats (i took an example of one of the classic weapons for retribution. it has the same speed too, so it's easier to compare):

    Cataclism's Edge
    138 DPS
    75 str
    +10% from Divine strength
    +10% from BoK
    means +21% str combined
    means 90.75 str, let's say 91
    91 str=182 ap
    14 ap=1 DPS
    182/14=13
    138+13=151
151 DPS from Cataclism's Edge. 335 armor ignore is useless against heavy armored targets and have limited contribution unless it's stacked with other pieces of gear and a warrior is keeping stacked sunder armor against a cloth wearer.

    Shivering Felspine:
    140.4 DPS
    52 agi
    53 haste
    120 ap
    yellow socket bonus: 5 ap
let's say: Inscribed Pyrestone with 5 str and 5 crit  (6 str with talents=12 ap)
    total ap: 120+5+12=137
    137/14=9.78 let's say 9.8
    140.4+9.8=150.2
150.2 DPS is 0.8 less than Cataclism Edge, BUT!!!
Crit: Pallys need 35 agi for 1% crit at lvl 70, means 52/35=1.48 % crit +5/22.1 from gem=1.7% crit (the same as Torch of the damned)
Haste: 53 haste rating. Well about haste i'm not really sure. Different sourses give me different info about speed and dps modifications. It's either 5% dps increase or 3.2% dps increase. So just pick the one that you judge correct. Anyway, it's either 157.7 or 155 DPS.

Now what was that?!! Is this weapon "hunter only"?
Every1 see agility, haste and ap on any sword or polearm and scream "HUNTER WEAPON!". Think again.
Best hunter weapon? Yes! But does the hunter have the priority to take this weapon first? My opinion, it's THE best retro pally weapon as well. Good thing this weapon drops from trash mobs, so every1 could get it (not only hunters).

    And couple of last things.
I analysed this weapon from RAID DPS point of view, where sta doesn't have much importance for dps classes (except warlocks who life tap to replenish their mana).
Personally, i'll leave this weapon to hunter if he/she doesn't have Hallberd of Desolation, if hunter has it, than i'll roll without hesitation.
For PvP the situation it's a bit different.
I also analysed it from retribution paladin's point of view only. Would be great if some1 could do the math for warriors and hunters, cause the stats and weapon type contribution is different for those classes. I could do it, but i'm already too tired to type.

EDIT: i made a little mistake with crit calculations. Actually it's  25 agi per 1% crit for pally, so the actual crit is 52/25=2.08%. With BoK its 57/25=2.28%. And a little sweet bonus of dodge. It's the same agility per 1% of dodge.

Apolyon the Soul-Render is the best ret-paladin weapon in the game. Coincidentaly, it has stats that benefit a hunter, despite not having agility. I bet you would shit your pants if a Hunter outrolled your ret pally on that, wouldn't you.

Taking an entire class of players (more than one million people) and calling them "faggots, all of them" makes you sound like a complete and total idiot. Please refrain.

Of course he would. Hunters want everything they can get their hands on. Taking a melee weapon that is a direct upgrade and will actually be used by a melee class is a-ok to them. Faggots, all of them.[/quote]

First of all, nice job on the misquote dumbass.

Second, this is easily the best hunter 2hander in the game.  Nobody cries when we take Halberd of Desolation, whats wrong with wanting this?

I personally think the armour ignore is at least -1 to 2% damage mitigation on your average target factor that in and the sword is better

This is a very smart post and this guy is hella right.

THEY BOTH CAN ROLL ON FUCKING TRASHMOB LOOT. IT'S NOT A 5% DROP FROM A BOSS WHO YOU CAN KILL ONCE A WEEK!

and also is this weapon rather fast in comparisation with others, which means that you'll do more dps with Seal of Blood (horde only, it owns the alliance version tbh)
