I happy with my Scorpid pet. I just tamed the Death Flayer in Durotar at lvl 11. How well a Scorpid pet stacks up in pvp and tanking in instances?

I misstimed my entry into PVP or I would have played with a scorpid a little bit. As a hunter in PVP I find and stun or movment restrictor very handy, lord know I died plenty of times while under someones stun.

Scorpid poison is supposed to stack up to 5 times, but since it is not a focus dump like claw or gore you will never get a stack of five in pvp, probably anywhere, I doubt you would land it more than once. and since scorpids can learn claw that is probably the most useful.

The problem with pet tanking in instances is, can a pet generate enough agro to hold the mob withough the dps'ers having to throttle back or having the healers too busy

That death flayer is a great low level pet. the issue will be if claw is on auto cast, I don't think the sting will ever fire. you will have to play with what is on autocast, if you a fighting mobs that do the low life run maybe turn off claw and only do the sting could help keep the anchored.

At 16-17 I would stable the scorpid and get claw 3 from this pet

that should have you covered till lvl 25, and a quick trip to ashenvale gets you claw 4.

etc. :)

You don't see alot of scorpids as pets, they are probably under rated.

I'm a level 70 hunter myself, full BM with 20 poins in MM. Scorpions, at least at a high level are one of the best, if not, the best pet you can get. they're armor rating is very good, and although they're physical melee attack falls short of a cat, they're poison DOES defintiely stack up 5 times. the main issue hunters have, is that they teach their scorpions bite and claw, not realizing that each of those atatcks as well as stacking poison uses energy. if he's constantly using energy for biting and clawing, there's not enough left to keep the poison active. keep that in mind.

in any event, i find them to be the best in PVP, especially since rouges are such a problem. once a scorpids poison is inflicted, the rogue can hop around all he wants and try and use vanish... not gonna happen. once the effect stacks, 55 every few seconds adds up very fast. just my opinion of course

As far as instances, i think cats tend to do the best job overall, they out dps basically everything, and they tend to hold aggro much better than other pets because their attacks are more frequent. plus, having dash and stealth on a cat is a great bonus for a night elf hunter like me as i can sit in PVP by a flag, and stealth out completely and wait for an unsuspecting horde player to approach.

You do get it to stack, thats interesting, the boys and I have a lvl 41 hunter in the character list, looks a trip to tanaris is in order :)

x2 for stealth the hunter I have been pvp'ing latly is a NE and with a kitty that knows prowl, very useful defending flags. It would be hard to give that up, though the other night a high level rogue go a hold of be not only could I not get get distance from him. I could not get him in front of me to scatter shot, it was stab then stun till I was dead. that guy could fight, usually you get those bunny rogues in front of you, but the tab key works for them. The scorpid would have slowed him down some though I would have only died slower :(
