I have a NE Druid and before I reach a high level I need to know if Balance or Feral talent is best. I like turning into animals alot but I also like the Moonkin form and how powerful it is. Can someone please tell me wich is better?

I want to use it for soloing. I heard that Moonkins are better than feral talents. I also heard that feral talents are better than Moonkins. Can someone that is an experienced Druid please tell me wich is better? I need to know quickly.
           

the answer is: feral is a bit better for party/solo and balance is more solo/pvp and as far as soloing goes you get more from feral if you are well geared and I mean well geared. but if you have lots of greens use balance for your leveling. Balance gear is also cheaper then feral so yout can save money while fast leveling with balance.

Dont switch to balance at all. (not yet atleast) Stay Balance until 20 (when u get cat). You pretty much MUST be in a group to level as a boomkin(balance). Feral is for soloing, quick DPS, ext. Plus you don't have to drink after every mob. At 60-70ish switch back to Balance if you want. Otherwise stay feral. Trust me, i learned the hard way. (spent about 100g going back and forth o.o)

Hmmm, people say that Feral is better for soloing, but as a Balance Druid since lv30, I've never had a problem with it really. I'd say it's more fun than being Feral, but you should probably experiment by yourself.
NOTE: I also levelled up BEFORE TBC, when Moonkins were often laughed at "for sucking". Even then I had no problem soloing stuff, and I wasn't particularly well geared (I only really equipped what dropped, and drop rates for greens/blues from mobs were lower back then too). :)

to solo... yeah moonkin is probably the best to solo, because it uses spells from a distance then use any over time damage attacks (moonfire, insect swarm) and go cat form and use rake and as a finish use that finishing move I forget it.... but that always works for me!

You still have to drink after every few (if not every) mob. The drinks can be expensive as well. It gets much harder to level up as Balance at 40-50+.

im lvl 24 and have been balance since lvl 1 i have had no problem lvling. I think it really depends on how and where you train

Feral straight up no contest until lvl 70...period.

While questing in outlands, pick up Balance tuned gear from your quest rewards.

Once you hit 70, spec full balance WoWWiki for several talent builds.

Balance is faster than feral in farming and dailys. You can bandage in moonkin form, you can't in feral form. You can drink pots in moonkin form, you can't in feral form.

Why feral until 70? I dont think its faster kills, I liked being able to stealth in to mobs to get the quest kills. I liked the speed of travel form and cat form. Bear form for those "oh chit" situations.

But I speced balance one day just playing around (I BG resto in S1 gear and wear resto gear in balance). I loved the speed and DPS, I'll never turn back to feral unless I decide to play a BG or two with it.


Nuff said, spec balance and rake in some gold doing dailys (once your 70 of course).

I personally think that (for leveling) Feral is the successor.

With Feral you take down monsters faster, and have practically no downtime. If you get low on health, just cast some HoTs and go back into Cat. The energy bar is also more useful than a mana bar, as it is superior in the fact that it replenishes fully every few seconds.

With a Balance build, you do moderate damage and have a lot of armor. There is a lot of downtime, however, because you will need to drink often, as Balance druids have high-mana-cost spells. There is a reason they are nicknamed 'Oomkin'.

I have tried both the Balance and Feral specializations, and I find Feral leveling much more to my liking. End-game, though, Balance are for DPS and Ferals are for tanking. The Balance specialization also becomes very viable end-game because (guess what) you're no longer OoM! Your damage also gets much better at levels 60-70 because the gear in Outland is much better for Moonkin than in Azeroth.

I'd say just to go with what fits you, though. If you prefer melee, go Feral. If you prefer spell casting, go Balance. You'll have more fun this way. :)

how dumb can u get, "feral is for soloing". While boomkin u can take extremely much dmg (400% increased armor) while still entagle another enemy and in the balance spec u get 70% decreased interruption while casting wrath. Tip: entagle,moonfire and insect swarm and the enemy will loose loads with dmg on only that. Boomkins owns Soloing! And if u get a crit and u are low on life u gain nature's grace which decreases the next spell by 0,5secs and then its just chill to use a regrowth and a rejuvention and u r back on top again. Or just put them in a cyclone and run away in travel form...

well it kinda depends on what u wanna use ur druid for if u want high kitty damage or if u plan on soloing alot go feral because feral has almost no need for drinks or mana time but if u want a tad lower damage and more of a mage type toon go with balance
