Certainly, I would be happy to.....if I had absolutely any idea of what you wanted. My little elf came into the world fluent in two languages. Unfortunately Keyboardese was not one of those that WOW give her any skills in.

When one has been playing for a while, there are abreviations that can be puzzled out by context.

After a few days of bewilderment, mats suddenly became obvious as materials. AFK was pretty self explanatory. Many of the others.......well, sorry, still not a clue. The little WOW booklet gives a few dozen abreviations, but not enough.

Day after day, as I have to look to this site for information, it's generously being provided. The problem is, that it is in a language that I still do not speak, and I am unable to find a comprehensive dictionary that would help me translate what I am reading.

A search here for abreviations does not help. Nothing under jargon either. Somewhere, someone must have run into this and started compiling a list for the noobs. (See, I have learned a few of the most basic terms in the vocabulary)

Ofc(Of course) a great deal of this word chopping is a result of text messaging. The economics of words, just like donuts minus the ugh will cost less in advertising.

A few common ones:

PuG - A group comprised of random players, ie not from same guild
noob - This isn't an abbreviation
OL - Outland

UC/Org/SW/TB/IF - Abbreviations of cities (nobody goes to Darnassus or Exodar, for obvious reasons. Probably not UC either).

LFG - Looking for Group
WTB/WTS - Want to buy/sell

My draenei priest hasn't set foot on Exodar ever since I last trained my JC (below level 300), like a million years ago.

UC is pretty central tbh- its the connection hub between silvermoon city and kalimdor for any level, you can take fairly short travels to all level group areas (-10duh, 10-20 silverpine, 20-30hillsbrad, 30-35 alterac 35-40 hinterlands, 40-45 arathi then a bit (ok a lot) further south 40-50 and you can come back to plaguelands)
from a horde point of view

once you're past 55 and can safely get all the surrounding flight paths, you can fly from quel'danas to uc, catch the zep and annoy some people in the barrens /..

(just making a slightly off topic point here.. no worries, no hard feelings :P )

(on horde yes, only died twice and got all the allied coins, (granted it was on a pve realm at 5 in the morning ;) ))

Yes, you are right. I did make up that series of 3 sets of letters, but when YOU look at it, you will see what I am often seeing when I try to read the messages in the game. Something that much of the time only appears to be frustrating gibberish.

I'm afraid I am a few generations to early to have be raised with text message lingo. (Yes, phones had been invented but they had cords, dials, an operator....and a party line if you lived in the countyside. Reality shows are nothing today, compared to eavesdropping then on your neighbor's real life drama) 

With any luck, I will now be able to figure out what someone wants and even get an abreviated response typed back to them before they've finished their quest, leveled up their character and moved on to the next region. :)

yes, there were people working in a phone company in the early days that actually took up the phone, asked who you were dialing and connected the cord of your phone into another outlet to reach the person you wanted to reach
